What's the average school class size in the States? When I was a kid, here in Portugal 30 students per class was fairly common. In the 50s and 60s, however, 40 students per classroom was normal.
  2. How do you know the actual crime rate in China? Are there any reliable statistics on the subject?

You'd be surprised how many 'bad teachers' I've run across. But it's not just a matter of how good or bad the teacher - no matter what their answer, it's likely to sound like "It just does" to me. My brain is very visual and I just can't visualize abstract formulas & explanations. It takes an exceptional teacher to make me do that. Most don't have the time, even if they have the know-how. Luckily, higher math isn't a requirement for social survival. I wouldn't be surprised. Teachers are, more often than not, incompetent. What annoys me is the amount of people that blame mathematics for the teacher's failings.

I've always hated that explainaton! I'm tempted to say that your bad relationship with math was a result of the way you were taught instead of a consequence of any fundamental lack of affinity on your part with the subject.

    That's a pretty bad teacher.
  6. Perhaps you should say the same thing about all killers. Like the guys who condemn other people to death, for example.
  7. And we all know we can't have more "vrimes."
  8. Harvesting is the only thing that kills them. They're invincible during the course of normal gameplay. Example: You're fighting a Big Daddy and a Little Sister. If she gets in the way of a rocket launched by you, she will survive the explosion unscathed. However, if you go up to her after offing the Big Daddy, and do the harvest action, she instantly falls over dead.
  9. This guy says it's revenge.
  10. I listened to this a while ago. Apparently Little Sisters will be invincible, mostly to avoid controversy. So this is why the little sister wouldn't die in the "Hunting The Big Daddy" video. Edit:I don't think they mutated. The sea slug was just an early idea for a "little sister" type creature.
  11. No. It seems to me that most prison sentences would exist regardless of public opinion. It's mostly a practical issue having to do with keeping the order in any given country. The death penalty, on the other hand is a huge money sink with no return on investment other than increased popularity.
  12. The goal of prison is detterence and reform. The death penalty is meant as deterrence. I'm making no comment on its effectiveness. I'll have to disagree there. The death penalty exists in the US because it's popular with a large part of the electorate. And it's popular with those people because they want revenge.
  13. So it's revenge then.
  14. So you're suggesting killing him for what he *might* do? @Tale:My comment was a jab at the ethics of revenge, which I think is the main reason for the existence of the death penalty. However, I don't think revenge is the goal of emprisonment.
  15. Because killing the guy will unrape the little girl.

  18. sarry, but that just dosn't make sense. Why would somone want thier desktop icons to be invisivible? What purpose would it serve? I havn't had a chance to make a new user yet so I don't know if it will work yet. It doesn't make sense, but it's still true. Only in XP, though. And perhaps Vista, too.
  19. I'm waiting for my Sam & Max payment to be processed.
  20. You both (Oerwinde and Taks) missed the point of the ending. It's about hope. To continue after that point would have ruined the film. Children Of Man was beautiful to me, and a lot of that came from the ending.
  21. India is surprisingly well lit.

Not understanding differential calculus, while at the same time not having problems with Physics is kind of contradictory.

I can't believe what I'm hearing. Linear Algebra is easy. In fact it's, by far, the easiest math course I took in university.
  24. I wouldn't put BG1 ahead of BG2.
