  1. > More lies. I don't defend them at every turn. SEWince when is 'KOTOR is overrated' defending them? ONCE AGAIN, I am referring to nwn1 comments by you ONLY. I do NOT own any of these other game you keep bringing up. And let me be very specific since you keep trying to bundle my comments to these other games. You have defended THE NWN1 OC at every turn anytime someone is critical of it. I do not believe that is a 'lie' by any means. > Since when is syaing that I have doubts about ME's dialogue system 'cause I pefer to know what my character says defending them? Don't care, as none of my comments were in reference to any other game except nwn1. > Why are you making stuff up? In the proper context, no I am not. > You obviously don't read nwn2news all that much since I've both agreed and disgareed with you on stuff dealing with both BIO and Obsidian. I have yet to see you NOT defend the nwn1 OC every chance you get. Which was my point to my comments. > You seem to do just fine stalking/harassing him him just fine. And you cal ME a fanboi? Please QUOTE me where I *started* ANYTHING with him. PLEASE. I can however produce several posts where he out the blue, even in threads I was never a part of, flamed and posted disparaging remarks to and about me. And you say I am making thinks up? *chuckle* One should know the topic before commenting on it. I know it shatters your world that certain bio devs are arse clowns but come on V. He was plainly in the wrong. in our PM's even Chris P didn't try defend his actions. > The bottom line is you bash BIO BIO at evwery turn, and mostly because of your personal beef with them, and it's like pulling teeth for you to make an honest assessment of Obsidian or BIO's work without bias. hhhmmmm see here: http://www.nwn2worlds.net/Articles/Reviews...83/Default.aspx And I quote: "But overall this game is in no worse shape then when NWN 1 was released and we all have seen how that turned out. I have little doubt Obsidian will continue this great tradition of support that Bioware forged and this game will be on all our drives for years to come." Looks like one of the several times I have given bioware kudos on my site past and present. Have I been critical? Yes. I think the nwn1 OC was a after thought/laughable and I do not like the direction they are going CRPG wise. Sue me for not joining Vol's bioware cult. *grin*
  2. > No, I didn't. Why do people need to make stuff up? Since when is 75% = 'da bomb'? WOW! You defend it every time I turn around and say it is on par quality wise. So while you did not say it was 'the bomb' your constant defense of it pretty much makes that a accurate comment. And don't dispute all the positive comments you have made about it or I'll go wading into the forum archives on various sites... > I calls them as I see them. As do I. I am sorry if in your eyes I have to be critical of OEI as much as Bio or else I am a fanboi. which seems to be what you are implying. sorry but Bio has much longer history (thus far) and more games under its belt to be pro/con about. I have *ONE* game from OEI that I can talk about. If you do the math... > It shoiuld be pointed out that this 'BIO tool' criticizes them A LOT. Just check out my comments on KOTOR, SOU, my rating for the NWN1 OC (omg, 75%!), and my nagging doubt of ME's dialogue system. Yet you defend them at every turn whenever someone else says something negative about them. You have spoken up MANY times when I have been critical of the nwn1 OC and other design choices. However I never saw you once run to Obsidians defense when I have been critical of them on nwn2news (which was several times over the past 3 yrs)... Mixed messages if you ask me. Be consistent at least. heh. I also see how you conveniently skipped over the part in my OP of Georg stalking me/harassing me on their own forums yet I take the fall. Not going to spin that as pro-bio as well? and lollipops rules! Well maybe not rule... but are kinda cool in a sweet, sugary, messy way. Sorta like you.
  3. > Are they Actually good, or do you just like them because they're NWN2? I've tried to play about a half dozen NWN2 modules. None of them imporessed, including and espicially a certain much hyped one. *I* like them but what you like and I like is subjective. For example you thought the nwn1 OC was the bomb, I thought it was little more then 2 giant fed-ex quests taped together. But either way much love and effort went into both and I enjoyed my time playing them so far. As I said before; If you strip away all the 'made over a weekend' quality modules from the nwn1 vault what are you really left with? Not much better, quantity wise then what we have with nwn2 during the same time period. > I've tried a few PWs, and only one seems like it'll have potential later on when it is more developed. I don't recall many highly rated PWs the first 6 months of nwn1's life. This is especially going to be true when 1 area can take x4 longer or more vs. nwn1 to create. So some patience is going to be required. > I'll try your suggestions, however. I think you'll appreciate the new toolset if you do. > Why are you such an obsidian tool R? How quickly we forget all my public comments critical of certain OEI choices I made on nwn2news... Seems unless I praise Toxicware at every turn I am a Obsid fanboi... heh
  4. I'd certainly like to join if possible I am EST
  5. Palace of the silver princess and dark waters, and thats off the top of my head. Why are you such a bioware tool V?
  6. The NWN toolset is simple to use. Seriously, that's it. A smoother learning curve means more people finishing their first module. This means less people trying to make their first module but getting frustrated and giving up. Once you have that first module out there, you get the positive feedback and you 'feel' like part of the community, and you're more likely to make a second one that's a bit more polished, and uses a bit more features. I agree and to add to this, as I said 18 months ago, with the new toolset it is going to be a quality vs. quantity issue. Which would the nwn2 community rather have? The new tooset ensures we are going to have less modules but those that do make them more quality as you can't easily slap 15 areas down and link them all in a afternoon. This DOES exclude the 'weekend warrior module builders' and thus we won't see many of those kinds of modules. As the people who did that for nwn1 I doubt will have the patience/time investment for nwn2. If you strip away all the 'made over a weekend' quality modules from the nwn1 vault what are you really left with? Not much better, quantity wise then what we have with nwn2 during the same time period.
  7. RE: later chapter better then chap 1 in the OC Well thats true for most works of literature. The first chapter is char development and back story filler to get you up to speed. The later chapters didn't have to do such and just fully thrust you into the plot full speed. RE: the screens quality (or lack of) erm.. seems to me (for whatever reason) AA has been turned down or off completely. The jaggies seems very noticeable and thus seems not all the FX options are on.
  8. Lets see V... Georg their employee stalks me to flame/harass me, after 12+ months of on and off snide comments I tell the guy off and then I get banned. Yes, I'd say I have a right to at the very least call them Toxicware. Considering thats the atmosphere they run their forums its fitting IMO. As long as you kiss their arse or get into bed with them (DLA) or/and do not speak ill of their products you can get away with a fair amount for the most part. You don't, like myself, and the rules do happen to apply strictly no matter the circumstances. That aside, yes I certainly agree NEW content should be first and foremost. If you think about it really whats left to do with the NPCs being talked about? Rehash the same old quotes and cliches? Sure it's cute for the first 15 mins but the entire game? I don't think so.
  9. I knew I'd heard it somewhere. Boo cameo! Someone correct me if I recall incorrectly, but I believe since Boo and all the other NPCs were created by Toxicware only they can use them under the D&D license. I thought I read something along those lines a while back from a Toxicware dev. I may be mistaken however. That aside I feel OEI has shown in nwn2 they can make VERY interesting and entertaining NPCs, no need to dredge up old NPCs. I'd prefer to deal with the unknown rather then get a XP1 that consists of recycled ideas. Perhaps that just me. Like Sand I am not huge on epic levels but I understand why, from a meatball counters POV, why they need to throw them in. Aside from that in general everything mentioned piques my interest. I certainly look forward to more details. BTW we have a NWN2 XP1 interview in the works, if you'd like to submit a question post here: http://www.nwn2worlds.net/MessageForum/tab...efault.aspx#244
  10. > P.S. I'm not bashing Obsidian or their Aliens RPG by the way. I have no problem like some people when it comes to using existing IPS,a nd I think the game will be fun. I just find it hypocritical to bash BIO, and DA for being 'unoriginal' yet praise Obsidian for using an existing IP. I hope that wasn't direct to me. I am 0 interest in the aliens IP thus prob going to skip over OEI's alien offering. I am sure it will be a overall good game but the mythos/setting does not interest me. A few aspects of DA interest me but overall I see nothing to get excited about. Doubt I will pick it up either. I have a feeling It will be another bioware all fluff/PR and little substance game like their nwn1 OC. And with the comments (last I heard) a toolset/cc ability may not be possible/very difficult that just kills the lifespan/interest of the game for me.
  11. Been there, done that with the Ultima series and in PnP. You seem to forget that I have been doing CRPGs back in the days of Vic 20. I have seen all sorts of shapes and sizes of CRPGs. Wizard's Crown, Eternal Dagger, the Phantasie and Ultima series, and the like. Bioware is not doing anything new. hell, as for armor giving damage reduction, I have used that in my PnP campaigns and DnD has rules for that as a variant. Rolemaster and Shadowrun come right to mind as 2 PnP /CRPGs that used armor as damage reduction rather then factor in hit/miss. I agree with sand nothing new here with DA.
  12. I am putting some questions together for a monthly feature we here at NWN 2 Worlds will be having with the Obsidian Devs. This will be a Q/A from you the community to ask our friends at Obsidian. This months topic is: NWN 2 Multi-Player Please do post your on-topic questions in this thread and we will take what we feel are the top, most pressing/interesting and send them off. http://www.nwn2worlds.net/MessageForum/tab...ic/Default.aspx Cut off date for submissions is: April 14th
  13. I've heard differently. I've heard a lot of content was cut for NWN2 around the time when Ferret left the project. About half is what I've heard, although that could be a tad hyperbolic. And Obsidian devs have repeatedly told us about stuff that did get cut, so there were definitely some scissors involved (like basically all of Casavirs stuff). Not always. Stalker certainly was allowed to take it's time. As for NWN2, Atari was (is?) in dire financial straits. If they would have allowed Obsidian another 6 months to complete the game, we may not have had a game to begin with. HALF?! If half the content got axed then yes that pretty significant. But one NPC sidequest, a few monster models and some DM client functions <> "half" of all the nwn2 content they did ship.... IMO at least. I am *NOT* saying nothing got cut, indeed in any proof of concept to final version things in s/w get cut in EVERY project. But I think you are making this out to be a larger deal then it is. My 2 coppers
  14. We have a great new interview with custom content guru Adam Miller aka PipBoy3000 about Pirates, ship-to-ship combat and his latest module in development called Dark Waters. It is located under Articles -> Community Interviews; here is a snip: Can you give us an over view of the story of this module and your goals as to the length of playing time you are shooting for? The first module introduces the game world and the main characters. One of the challenges of going with a non-standard setting is that it's totally new to the players. In a sense, it's like System Shock, where the player discovers what happened and their place in the world as they go from level to level. There's a lot of interplay between the past and the present and even cases where events played out in the past can affect the current adventure. Total play time is around 5 hours. I finally did several full walkthroughs and came up with that estimate. The absolute fastest, skipping the prologue, using every possible shortcut, and zipping through every dialog, the game can be finished in two hours. For people who want to explore and complete every option, it can easily be six or more hours. What kind of role play options will PC
  15. I am not into SW hence never bought either of those games. So cant comment on that level. However NWN2... I don't think your comment "leaving Sawyer to remove alot of content again to meet their deadline" is accurate of the situation. He took over from when Ferretand Obsidian parted ways, however I do not recall any of JE's comments saying anything along the lines you state. He did say he was re-prioritizing and trying to made heads/tail of where Ferret left off, but it was more a clean loose ends up rather then a 'OMG we needs to cut a. b. and c. or we'll never ship'. PERHAPS that did happen behind the scenes, however from JE's post that was not the impression I was left with. And for what its worth, before we go throwing Ferret under the bus even more then others have already in other threads, if it was not for Ferret and one of the scripters (the name eludes me right now) the crafting system would have been on the chopping block. Ferret fought VERY hard for it and due to a lot of after hrs work he and one of his scripters saved that aspect of the OC. FYI
  16. I am hoping so. It has a great deal of potential I feel for the community. Already a few module/custom content peeps have posted blogs/news about their project and as more people do I feel its a great way for people to meet other like minded players/module devs.
  17. The article has been moved here under my blog section: http://www.nwn2worlds.net/MyProfile/tabid/.../1/Default.aspx
  18. I just wanted to point out this profile, VERY cool custom content being developed by the community even without a granny solution. http://www.nwn2worlds.net/MyProfile/tabid/...56/Default.aspx
  19. I see us PC gamers are getting screwed again... a good 6+ months for a port no doubt. :/
  20. NWN 2 Worlds is proud to announce the opening of our 'My Profile' section to our site. With this new section one care create a profile on the NWN 2 Worlds site that has such info as personal/contact info, a blog, gallery, friends list and much more. You also have the option to select images and upload wall paper to personalize it. Very similar to the features of MySpace yet without being spammed with ads! I am hoping this becomes a great tool and resource for the community on several levels. One it brings like minded players, DM's and server admins together they may not have had a chance to meet otherwise. Also for those that want a easy, no fuss way to advertise, announce and promote their server, game or custom content project to many others. I look forward to browsing your profiles http://www.nwn2worlds.net/MyProfile/tabid/80/Default.aspx
  21. > Things changed, and DLA has done a lot. A lot more than either of us that's for sure. Just because they don't release things on YOUR schedule, or things don't go exactly as they intially planned doesn't mean they didn't do anuthing.I think they must have beat up your family as you seem to hate them with a passion. R00fles! Things didn't change, DLA choose to go the money making route. Which before the 'they have a right to do' people jump all over me, I as a whole have no issue with their involvement with the DD module project or selling themselves out on the corner for $5. for all I care. I take issue with them advertising and claiming all this community altruism for YEARS and producing a small fraction with the excuse 'opps we JUST discovered after 4 yrs the nwn1 engine cant hand a 8 party module... btw we hadnt been working on it either for 18+ months because of the work with bioware... our bad for not saying so and leading you on!' And V, they have not done ANY community altruism (intentionally) for years. So saying they have done 'a lot' is not quite accurate. 'a lot' from making things? Sure. 'a lot' as giving to the community? Not quite. If this was 2002-2004 and they released the 3Dmax plugin, sewer and their handful of monsters they put out then sure, I'd agree. However they have not for the last several years of nwn1 life. I am not sure why of all people you are trying to sugar coat this. I'd have ZERO problem with Robert if he would have produced or released something close to what they strung the community along on for years then did the DD thing. Even if they were HONEST and UPFRONT from the start when they dropped all free content for commercial, then again I'd have zero issue with Robert. However he choose to use the NDA as a excuse 'I couldn't say anything... sorry' as his excuse. Knowing if he did say 'we are dropping our DLA-1 and related CC for a undisclosed project, cant say any more' most people would have lost interest in DLA by the time the DD were released. So he strung everyone along bordering (at best) on deception IMO to keep interest and visibility high on DLA. When people stop coming to your site and you become irrelevant in a community by going 'dark' for 18 months it does not work in your favor when you try to sign a contract with other license owners/developers. Which in the end this mess was at the expense of the community long term in my view. > Anyways, this outfit's interview is cool. Hoepfully, they do soemthing as user made stuff for NWN2 has not been impressive thus far. I tried one of the so called greta ,modules, and quite after 10 minutes 'cause of agrbage. And, found one PW that might have potential in the future. Still have to try out the POR Remake though. Well I think many in the CC field are having a issue making certain things awaiting plugins from OEI. Hopefully this gets corrected soon for all the CC and PW peeps out there. I have a feeling RW is the real deal. As I said before I get a good feeling about them and the fact they are no so large to move at the pace of molasses in winter uphill as we have seen other groups. I think bodes well for them and us as a community. Certainly, time will tell. I personally cant wait to check out the deep halls!
  22. Glad you liked it, perhaps this outfit will actually put out what they advertise unlike DLA. From the impression I got this certainly does seem to be the case. Yay for us!
  23. We had a great interview with Robinson Workshop co-founder Baron. We discuss their up coming tilesets for NWN 2, their thoughts on the custom content community and what lies in their future. Here is a snip: Q:You are currently working on some very impressive tile sets from the screen captures you released. What made you choose these specific tile sets as your first priority? A:Thanks for the kind words. Our choice was made back before nwn2 was even released. We started on Deep Halls for nwn1 (then it was called dwarven halls), but kinda lost interest and decided we would wait to do it for nwn2. Deep Chasms was inspired simply because of the lack of pit tiles in the cave tileset. Once we solved a few technical issues we became able to provide pit tiles not only to the caveset, but have also added them to the Deep Halls set. Sewers is a natural choice, I'm a huge fan of city based adventures and sewers just seem a natural source of adventure in that environment. --- You can read the entire article here: http://www.nwn2worlds.net/Articles/Communi...74/Default.aspx Our many thanks to RW for taking the time to talk to us. We look forward to testing out their releases once completed.
  24. And to add to this WotC don't give a lot of leeway. For exmaple, the Owlbear got scrapped because Obsidian was under the impression it normally stood/walked on hind legs. WotC said otherwise. So Mr. Owlbear got snipped from the game as they didnt have the zots to re-do it. The license owner has all the power and ultimately has the veto stamp it can use at any time. Thus the concept art says elves look like this, then thats what the artists at OEI have to make them look like. If you do not like the art direction of NWN2 then it would be much more productive to go yell at the owners of the license how 'ugly' they imaged the elves (or what not) as.
  25. IIRC, there are currently no repercussions for a failed pickpocket check in NWN2, even if the target Spots your attempt. BTW, Gamefaqs has a detailed pickpocketing guide in its NWN2 section. oohh thanks for the linky. Very interesting list. Surprisingly only a few peeps really have items worth pilfering. hhhmmm... by lvl 8 or 9 having a rogue is moot as there are other ways to open chests and traps don't do enough by then to kill your PC
