  1. Oh yes, I rescued jerro and as was hinted to myself above he did stick about until I entered the city of the dead. he said this is where we part, however he said he would rejoin me later. thats the last I heard from him either in the game or the ending sequence. Did anyone get something of a ending with him rather then him just walking into the sunset? He shows up with a personal demon army if you choose to defend the gates, first. He binded a bunch of demons to his will... AGAIN?! I love this guy!! We need NX2 with him as a central NPC!
  2. The 'good' ending forces you to live in the city of the dead however, neither of my chars were up for that. what happens if you choose that path?

  4. Ok I finished my game with my Conan char. (For those interested/that read my Conan thread he ended up as a lvl 21 barb, 6 rogue, the rest in fighter class) Wow great story, kudos to Obsidian! I replayed the ending twice making some different choices (once declaring my love for sofiya and other saying my heart belongs to the druid). When saying I love her yet choosing not to host the betrayer entity (which I think is in conans personality) the ending seemed contradictory?? she says she loves me but cant stay with me as she must find the 'cure' for the betrayer curse and leaves back to the red wizards academy to do that, then in a scene or two later says her and I got married back in/near neverwinter with khelgar, aldanon and the like. So which is it? did she leave me to spend the rest of her days in the vaults of the academy seeking to end his curse or did she come with me/marry me? When I said my heart belongs to elenee (but still chose to not be stuck with the curse) got the same ending of her taking over the academy and seeking a cure for the curse. And I ended up doing more travels and making a name for myself. Sadly that ending didn't produce a ending WITH elenee?! What happens if I choose to be stuck with the curse?
  5. I got 100 influence w/ her... Shes not pouncing my Conan yet...? :/
  6. Has anyone played SR 4E here? Was wondering what you thought of the changes vs/ the previous core rules? Were the changes worthwhile? I only play sporadicly with 2E and 3E myself was wondering if 4E was worth getting.
  7. I don't know if I agree with the spellcaster bit. While yes hes somewhat fearful of magics he had the mage along with him in both movies, and if I recall in a book or two didn't he have some casters as allies?
  8. Wedding? Who were you supposed to marry? and how could you, you were taken right after the cave in...? I assume its a accurate assumption ammon won't be around after this red wizards part of the story is finished? I find it sad, but understandable to a degree, that hes been demoted to a minor NPC cameo role. He would have been one NPC I'd love to have him tag along for the long term as he did in the OC.
  9. I spent half the game with that demon, built up all this influence and she STILL turned on me! The 2 copper sl*t! So in my game at least, I knew she didn't live as she was killed in the first part of the battle. If she did stay by you PCs side what does he say happened to her? And yes the grobnar death was too funny and even ammon seemed to find it a bit fitting for the guy. You always knew that gnome was a few fries short of a happy meal to start with. So it certainly seemed fitting. LOL
  10. It's really up to you... It's kinda hard to integrate Conan in the FR... Conan's world (at least in the movies) seemed like one where magic was rare and not as developed as in D&D. Swords and fists were likely more commonplace and more useful... Sp. there isn't anything to plan about except from the feats you can take and the weapons you want to specialize with... Oh I agree with all your points. However one can still trying to get inside the head of this fictional char and try to RP him and his actions to the best one can in this setting. All I am saying
  11. anyone? :~(
  12. Well I escaped the underwater city, and laid a beat down on the hag spawns mother. Interesting back story and fairly tragic to be honest. While I felt bad for the had spawn and his plight playing my PC IC he was indifferent more or less. As he felt it wasn't his business nor concern. So after that we made our way up to the slumbering coven and entered a very enlightening dream state. Bishop got what he deserved as he is now part of the wall of the faithless. And I am playing the part of a 'betrayer'? I didn't sabotage my keep gate... My issues with this arse clown aside, moving on... Now after a few waking dream encounters all the puzzle parts are stating to fall into place to create the big picture. Seems everything i spointing back to the wall of the faithless and it, attempted, destruction. According to the dream entities I spoke with this seems to be leading to the dead god of death myrkul whom I must communicate with as he apparently has the key to cure me of this cures as he is the one who created it. Possibly as a punishment for the attacks on the wall by the 'betrayer'. The trail now leads to sofiya's red wizard academy to find some clues hopefully left by her mother as she was involved in my initial abduction to some degree. After taking care of some red wizards who performed the coup against her mother I stumbled upon ammon jerro! He was in a state where his soul was ripped from him, I made some deals with some bound demons and restored it. He was a changed man and not the angry, bitter man whos focus was crystal clear. He had some self doubts now about himself and his purpose. I pulled the 'you owe me' card and he agreed to join my group, if just for a time. Seems after this red wizards school quest he intents to part ways, for good. He did state however about the others in my original party and their fate. Seems the only ones to survive was him, khelgar and possibly ellene (he states he did not see her killed in the chaos like the others, however nor did he see her in the aftermath either) everyone else he saw was killed by the falling ceiling or sacrificed themselves to allow others a chance. On a side note, hes now part of my party, however he is not controllable in any way. I can not command him nor have access to his inventory. So now we are searching for a way to enter a sealed warded door in sofiya mothers room which we beleive has some clues to further our mission. Our journey continues.
  13. From blues news: ATARI Ceases Game Development Atari CEO Resigns as Company Withdraws from Production has word that David Pierce has stepped down from his position as CEO of the troubled gaming company, which has also announced its exit from the production end of the business. Here's a bit: Amidst concerns about the company's lack of funds and ability to continue its business, Atari officials announced today that the publisher will "re-focus its operations on publishing and distribution in North America, completing its withdrawal from the production business." According to the release, Atari's operations going forward "will involve title acquisition, sales and marketing, and physical distribution of products from [infogrames] IESA, its 51% shareholder, and other selected partners." Atari has agreed in principle to terminate its Production Services Agreement with IESA in the near future. The company is planning to transfer certain employees and contract other staff on a project basis for a limited period of time. Unfortunately for Atari's employees, this restructuring initiative will also reduce the company's current workforce "in order to re-align the Company's cost structure with its on-going business base." Along with the withdrawal from production, Atari CEO David Pierce has also announced his resignation. Curtis G. Solsvig III, Chief Restructuring Officer, has been appointed interim CEO and will assume Pierce's responsibilities for now. Atari said that an executive search for a new CEO has already been started.
  14. I find this discussion fascinating! From the NPCs available who would the book Conan take to travel with him in your estimation? Here are the choices I have made my version take with his mindset for each, I'd appreciate any input: I felt Conan would not have felt comfortable with the bear spirit, just its raw nature in his mind would have been a threat to him as 'unnatural'. Thus I had Conan kill the bear in combat. The Red Wizard, while I get the impression he is not a magic lover she is useful to finding a cure and did help him escape from the barrow. Plus her story about how/why she rescued him needs to be looking into more as he feels her mother is linked to his plight. Thus feels he can trust her to a degree. The spirit shaman, hes on the fence about this one. Not sure of his motivations but he has yet to do anything to betray him so Conan is keeping him around for the time being and taking a wait and see approach. The celestial cleric, while he feels she is not as hardened as she needs to be to survive in this land she is wise council and has skills that is useful on his quest. Thus feels she is a reasonable choice to be part of the party. The One spirit - Conan does not feel dark spirits would be a good choice at all as they are a ill omen and he has enough problems with this curse as it is, left the spirit in the crypt. Is the above a fair rationale for him?
  15. If several of the canuk bio peeps didn't hate me with a passion I'd apply, heh.
  16. Did he have a primary sword in the howard books like the movies? (Been so long that I read one I cant recall) Or did he not have any attachment to a specific weapon and just used whatever happened to be around at the time? I had the impression he was using a two-handed sword in the movies... ah, it's a shame there isn't a feat that grants a bonus for using an extra hand when fighting with single-handed weapons... Did he have a specific sword in the books or did he not have a attachment to any one weapon unlike the movies?
  17. Intelligence isn't measured by the number of books you read. Howard was a deeply troubled character who resented his own position as a self made literati among uncouth traders and professional men who had no interest in such things. Locked in an environment that was completely anathema to his nature he sought freedom in his characters, chief among them Conan. This is why he took such great care in centering his narrative in the contrast between the unflinching, unconquerable nature of the barbarian (his own personal ticket to freedom) and the inherent oppressive condition of civilization. In this sense Conan becomes a reflection of the author, and that translates in a personage of relatively great intelligence. Many of the most insightful quotes regarding this contrast of barbarism vs. civilized men come from Conan himself, and he always displays a great deal of facility in the way he learns the languages and lore of his ever changing surroundings. Remember once he was released as a gladiator he was taken in by those monks and taught to read/write as well as tactics and combat. I'd say he certainly has more education then a typical commoner and I believe most of the Conan writings back up that opinion as well from what I recall. Nonsense. The gladiator deal is an invention brought forth by the film that has no relation to the original character. Howard's Conan would have cracked the skull of anybody trying to put a yoke around his neck (or died trying) without the faintest hesitation. The idea that he was a slave, taught and raised in the ways of civilization by a master is to miss the point to such a degree i'm still not sure if John Milius actually read any of Howard's stories at all. The original Conan was raised as a free man, hunting wild animals in the dark hills of Cimmeria and (by age 15) fighting along side his clan's men in their raiding and war parties. Even regarding Conan's martial proficiency Howard obsessively focus on his wild and barbaric traits as opposed to any specific skill. In the The Pool of the Black One, when Conan duels the pirate's captain to take control of his ship, Howard writes very explicitly that it was only thanks to his superior martial training that the latter stood toe to toe with the barbarian, at least for a time. In all of his stories, he never mentions any particular skill or technique but he often compares Conan to a wild animal against which no civilized man can stand, regardless of any special training or expertise. It's only late in his career that he begins to pick up on real military training, and i think any D&D translation should probably take this into consideration by picking fighter levels late into the build. hhmmm I stand corrected it seems, thank you for the input certainly interesting. However with the discrepancy between the movie version and book version one would have settle on which version s/he is modeling the D&D PC after. Since I am more familiar with the movie version I would have to lean to that. No offense to the books or Howard's work but the few books I read was so long ago its all foggy at best to be honest. But it seems we are in agreement he is 'smart' to the degree hes not running around with a 8 int. Either the movie or book version he does not seem to be a fool or generally ignorant. Thus I think a 12 int is reasonable.

  20. Why do you say that? His sword in the movies was a bastard sword (sword and a half) from the size, grip..?
  21. How I started MotB: Conan human barbarion: 14; Rogue: 4 learned feat, thug, power attack, cleave, great cleave, extra critical bastard sword str: 16 dex: 14 con:16 int: 12 wis: 10 chr: 12 primary skills (over 14 points): appraise, intimidate, bluff, tumbling, search, spot, listen minor skills (no more then 14 points): diplomacy, armorer, survival, heal Sound pretty fair?
  22. The ending is like that of fallout. It shows still images of the various places you traveled and how those places/people fared due to your actions during the game.
  23. hhhmmm you peeps make good points. Perhaps give him the learned feat (since he was ej-u-ma-cated by that band of monks when he escaped from being a gladiator/slave) and that would make easier to give him some points in thief like abilities.
  24. ACK! No talking about something I have not gotten to yet! (Please use one of the general motb threads for such, thanks!) As a reminder, I am just about to leave the underwater city I am trapped in.
  25. Shouldn't it be easier to fight in no armor? LOL... On a serious note, while Conan was a bit into the rogue profession he wasn't all pro from what I recall (in either the books, comics or movies). How many times did he get caught trying to sneak? And I do not believe he ever tried to disarm a trap or pick a lock in any story I read... So perhaps lvl4 rogue would be fitting for him.
