That's one thing I thought was pretty silly about that star trek show... here they had an enemy that could adapt to any energy weapon... ...I don't see them adapting to a rapid fire sub machinegun or slug rounds.

lol, no kidding. this is just plain wrong.

As much as I didn't like it, it does make sense. Over on gamefaqs, the boards that are split due to the games being in multiple formats tend to dry up quickly despite success... but those with a single format tend to have better staying power. The same principle applies here with this setup too.

So? How does it compare to Civ 2 or 3? And how does it stack up against the all time champ Alpha Centauri?

If by "western" you mean "yeehaw cowpokes"... then the answer is no. There was a game based on the deadlands setting (western/horror) being made.. but I'm not sure if it's being produced still. There is a game called Gun soon to be released.. but I think it's a GTA-style western if I'm not mistaken.
