Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
It's funny but, as much as I dislike Greece as a team, I still feel sorry for the individual Greek player when he misses.

That's it Keyrock, if Costa Rica loses it's all on you. Now, if you had wanted to really help Costa Rica you'd have threatened to make them listen to that if they didn't win.

On Dutch television it is remarked the game developing as it does is a good thing as, so they imagine, it will cause whatever team we are up against to be tired. I think that's a load of nonsense. The next game is in six days, I am sure that is enough rest to shake off an extra 30 minutes of overtime.

Yes! The by far more sympathetic side scored!- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
So, Dutch airline KLM apparently pissed off world famous Mexican Gael Garcia Bernal by tweeting an "adios amigos" to the Mexican team. Yeah, I don't know who that is either, but he's threatened never to fly with KLM again. And apparently a lot of other Mexicans who are also sour losers with no sense of humour have been complaining about the tweet. After which KLM quickly removed the tweet. Gutless move by KLM, the Dutch queen should promptly take the royal predicate away from the airline. https://twitter.com/yoyen/status/483324954323472387/photo/1- Is there still no world cup thread? The penalty was correctly given. Yes, Robben went to the ground in a theatrical fashion, but he was quite clearly fouled. There are quite a few people who have it in for Robben, and certainly based on his play throughout his career there is cause for displeasure at his whinging and diving. However, the last couple of years he's been a lot less prone to this sort of behaviour and he's really grown as a player. I think people should give him more credit. At the moment he is one of the best, if not the best, player in the tournament. That being said... Boy, I was anxious watching this game. The orange team looked absolutely dreadful at the start. De Jong getting injured really put a dent in our defense, and the new defender that replaced Janmaat was horrid. No offense to him, but I hope this was his last game in the orange jersey. Things really turned around when the team started to play 4-3-3 and we got rid of the dead wood. It helped of course that Mexico had completely given up on trying to play football and their coach had his team go into ultra defensive mode the moment they were in the lead. Awful decision by the Mexican coach. And then Sneijder, of all people, scoring the equalizer, and Huntelaar who hadn't played even a minute previously scoring the winning goal. Love it.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
My fears for today: Netherlands-Mexico 1-1, penalty shoot-outs: Sneijder misses, Netherlands out of the tournament.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
Columbia really is three sizes too big for a Uruguay without Suarez, it seems. Not much excitement left in this game.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
I feel so, so sorry for Jara, that must be the most awful feeling.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
Wow, that Hulk is annoying. Such unsportsmanlike behaviour.- What you did today

So the guy who got bitten by Suarez actually thinks the punishment is excessive. http://ht.ly/yvRp6 Go figure.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
I guess in France people are used to it and consider this a normal way of celebration for the Algerians.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
http://www.demotix.com/news/5111111/clashes-between-algeria-football-supporters-and-riot-police-lyon The thing is that French Algerians have a better chance to play in the Algerian team than in the French team, unless like Zidane they are really really good.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
So in France people of Algerian origin have been celebrating the fact that their country is through by torching other people's cars and motorcycles. Yep, given the choice I think I prefer U.S. football fans.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
I haven't seen any Algerian women among the fans either. Then again, that might be because I am watching the South-Korea - Belgium game. South-Korea should really work on getting a better keeper. This one's dreadful.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
I am not sure who to support here. On the one hand eleven hardworking, passionate, plucky representatives of a nation that is in every respect a dwarf among football giants and who try to make up for their lack of individual talent by giving it their very best, and on the other hand there's South-Korea. Just kidding, neighbours! Your team is actually quite decent. On paper.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
Can't imagine many clubs having an interest in buying him from Liverpool anymore now. Then again, you never know.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)
Ah, he is also suspended from all football activities for four months. That's more like it.- Is there still no world cup thread? (the sequel)

I think we should send Cesar Milan to have a look at him...- What you did today
Its good that you moved so swiftly to prevent said murder, what would happen later when kitty gets older and reflects on its life. Imagine the guilt Cats hunt - its what they do. They're obligate carnivores and as they can't produce etinol, taurine, and arachidonic acid IIRC and they have to get it from the flesh, organs and/or bones or prey. Or cat food. But while you can take the animal hunting out of the cat food, you can't take the animal hunting instinct out of the cat. But murder is murder, and what about the long term psychological consequences when Kitty realizes all the lives that he/she has ended? Just because Kitty is an animal this needs to be considered...don't you think? So you're suggesting that cats abstain from hunting... ...and thus go blind and die because they can't synthesize proteins they need from eating plants? And what about plant murder? Why is that bird okay to save, but not the grass. WON'T ANYONE THINK OF THE GRASS? I am quite sure Bruce was joking. I certainly hope so!- Music... must go on...
