  1. Given the choice between Belgium progressing and Argentina progressing, it's an easy choice. Belgium all the way. They've been far more fun to watch.
  2. Congratulations to Belgium, see you in the semi-finals
  3. How could the Belgians have missed that chance? Oh my, and another. How many 100% chances can you miss, Belgium?
  4. Is it too late to send these two teams home and give the quarter finals spot to Algeria?
  5. Hey, there's always Bacchus. He's cool with debauchery.
  6. This is basically what the SCOUTS said, the government could provide the contraception themselves and still fulfill their goal of giving access to everyone. There is no need to force an employer to do it. I am butting into something here that I don't claim to understand and that isn't my business, but... If the claim by businesses is that because of their religious value system they feel they cannot -and should not- in any way be forced to help their employees to get contraceptives, wouldn't they still be in the same position if the government did it with money funded from taxes that were in part raised from these businesses?
  7. What Keyrock said, but then the exact opposite. Argentina to steamroll all over Switzerland, Belgium to struggle but eventually win against USA
  8. The South Korean football team on coming home was pelted with toffees to show disapproval at their showing during the world cup. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-28095829 Oh, those rowdy Koreans.
  9. For those who are not Belgian but still want to cheer on Belgium tomorrow: http://belgiumizeme.be/
  10. At least the French Algerians have a reason to cheer for France now.
  11. Germans will be Germans. First they allow the other team to hope, then they crush all hope at the last moment.
  12. Don't worry, they're Germans. No matter what happens the first 89 minutes, they will score as many as needed in the 90th minute + extra time.
  13. American based Waffle House is calling for a boycot on Belgian waffles in the run up to the game between the U.S. football team and Belgium. True blooded Americans should buy American waffles instead. http://www.tmz.com/2014/06/28/team-usa-soccer-belgium-boycott-belgian-waffles-waffle-house/ Funny, me and my girlfriend were wondering exactly what American waffles would look like, and I joked that they probably included bacon. So I googled it, and it seems I was right. The all American way, put lots of bacon on everything. Not that I have anything against bacon. I love bacon on my pancakes. Hmmmmm. And even funnier is that apparently the waffle known as the Belgian waffle in the U.S. is a North-American variety of what is known in Belgium as the Brussels waffle, and thus is not actually Belgian. So Waffle House is calling for a boycot on an American dish in favour of another American dish in order to spite Belgium? I think not, they just want to line their own pockets.
  14. It's funny but, as much as I dislike Greece as a team, I still feel sorry for the individual Greek player when he misses.
  15. That's it Keyrock, if Costa Rica loses it's all on you. Now, if you had wanted to really help Costa Rica you'd have threatened to make them listen to that if they didn't win.
  16. On Dutch television it is remarked the game developing as it does is a good thing as, so they imagine, it will cause whatever team we are up against to be tired. I think that's a load of nonsense. The next game is in six days, I am sure that is enough rest to shake off an extra 30 minutes of overtime.
  17. Yes! The by far more sympathetic side scored!
  18. So, Dutch airline KLM apparently pissed off world famous Mexican Gael Garcia Bernal by tweeting an "adios amigos" to the Mexican team. Yeah, I don't know who that is either, but he's threatened never to fly with KLM again. And apparently a lot of other Mexicans who are also sour losers with no sense of humour have been complaining about the tweet. After which KLM quickly removed the tweet. Gutless move by KLM, the Dutch queen should promptly take the royal predicate away from the airline. https://twitter.com/yoyen/status/483324954323472387/photo/1
  19. The penalty was correctly given. Yes, Robben went to the ground in a theatrical fashion, but he was quite clearly fouled. There are quite a few people who have it in for Robben, and certainly based on his play throughout his career there is cause for displeasure at his whinging and diving. However, the last couple of years he's been a lot less prone to this sort of behaviour and he's really grown as a player. I think people should give him more credit. At the moment he is one of the best, if not the best, player in the tournament. That being said... Boy, I was anxious watching this game. The orange team looked absolutely dreadful at the start. De Jong getting injured really put a dent in our defense, and the new defender that replaced Janmaat was horrid. No offense to him, but I hope this was his last game in the orange jersey. Things really turned around when the team started to play 4-3-3 and we got rid of the dead wood. It helped of course that Mexico had completely given up on trying to play football and their coach had his team go into ultra defensive mode the moment they were in the lead. Awful decision by the Mexican coach. And then Sneijder, of all people, scoring the equalizer, and Huntelaar who hadn't played even a minute previously scoring the winning goal. Love it.
  20. My fears for today: Netherlands-Mexico 1-1, penalty shoot-outs: Sneijder misses, Netherlands out of the tournament.
  21. Columbia really is three sizes too big for a Uruguay without Suarez, it seems. Not much excitement left in this game.
  22. I feel so, so sorry for Jara, that must be the most awful feeling.
