you've got beach issues regarding san diego, right? odd that you post this as i was contemplating san diego the past few days. a friend/colleague lives there (working for qualcomm) and we recently touched base. suddenly, today, i get in to work with a note about a potential contract with SPAWAR in san diego. we're flying out there in two weeks for a meeting as a result. it should be fun. i agree, btw, that mission beach is a mess. completely. i went into one of the public johns and witnessed a drug trade almost immediately... on display in front of 15-20 people... amazing. coronado is beautiful, too. i've not been to the others. mark

why does it not surprise me that you hang out in coffee shops reading obscure material for kicks? taks

nor do i begrudge him the right to do so... however, the reason i mentioned this in the first place is simply that the ONLY reason anyone takes him seriously is because he is the son of a president. liberals like to parade ron jr. about saying "see, look, your great president's son doesn't think this way." kind of a conundrum they put themselves in actually. in order to lend credibility to ron jr., they have to ride on the coattails of sr. in the first place... and sorry whitemithrandir, clever wit as a comeback serves only a purpose of laughter. not really any argument. admittedly funny as it was ivan oh, and btw, i doubt he would have been quite the political activist had it not been for his father's political career in the first place. taks

i'm curious what qualifies him to make such an assessment, over anybody else, and why anybody cares? being a son of a president doesn't make him any more credible. taks

most people also get pirated games over the internet... but it's not illegal. i.e. just because the end use of a product is sometimes illegal, doesn't necessarily mean the product itself is illegal. taks

hehe, NWN2 is in development. yay, i'm the first! taks

that's odd. usually they limit uploads to prevent people from running servers. not downloads. not sure, however, how to limit it. just don't do UL and DL at the same time i guess... taks

corn is regularly used to create methanol. it has problems, however. taks

using titanium is not new. perhaps the discovery of the way the body reacts to it is, however... taks

you misunderstand me. anything can be used as a fuel as long as it burns slowly enough. i'm talking about using is as a replacement fuel. that's the stretch. taks

they regularly use titanium as hip replacements, pins in broken bones, etc. my brother has 2 titanium pins in his arm (which he broke about 4 months ago). not really a new thing... taks

uh, i think it could be pretty easy to prove the hemp as a fuel source is not true. none of us are qualified to make a statement that it is a fact, not even you, potc. and i still disagree that americans are ignorant of hemp's usefulness. we know, we just can't politically get it through the process. the point made about the alien thing, btw, goes to credibility. granted not a "sound" logical argument, but relatively valid nonetheless. taks

Okay...so an article about ice would go: ...snip... EXACTLY! you are definitely catching on. it's kinda smurfish. or marklar. taks

hey now, i am big and slow! of course, i was 6'3", 215 lbs. and under 10% body fat when i was 20... this all due to 20 hours a week pushing weights. now i spend 40 hours a week pushing the pillows to the other side of the couch because that's where i set the peanuts! taks

yes, but not well. watching val kilmer and michael keaton turn their entire body to see something at their side totally blew it for me, however. taks

thanks. hmmm... still looks stiff. of course, the primary problem with the previous incarnations was the head/neck immobility. can't really tell from a still how well that plays out, though the way the material is wrinkled around the collar area implies it might be looser. i guess we'll see. taks

they're putting big time money into production on some of these titles so a high visibility campaign is necessary. note that as much as people whine about great games, they fail to recognize that the gaming rags are typically the only place ads appear. i'm acually surprised we don't see more such ads. taks

too short... oh well. bandwidth exceeded on the pics. dang. a couple of the others looked OK so i'm going to reserve judgement. after reading the description, btw, it is supposed to be kevlar. taks
-
some of it was done to make twerpy michael keaton look bigger, i realize. that's how he got those muscles but, i think they can make some artistic license on a flexible suit that's "made of kevlar" so it doesn't have to be so thick. a little padding to add muscle and we have a bit more realism. bummer about the last bit. oh, how tall is matt damon? he's gotten pretty bulky for sure. maybe he'd be a good future fit? taks
-
i didn't say you were lean. i said batman is lean... 6'2", 210 lbs. AND lean. he is described as such. lean just means low body fat, arkan. what you get from heavy exercise and weight lifting. taks

not unusual. i've seen it done before. if they can boost sales by a few hundred k units, probably a good idea. taks

uh, maybe because the article is about hemp? oh, and yes, kanadians are allowed to call us amerikans. volourn is right, these topics always seem to be some sort of "america is stupid" theme. even if the laws against hem are unjust, it's certainly not because we are "stupid" or "ignorant." we have our foolish laws just as any other country does. most of the country would probably favor opening up hemp production due to it's obvious (and many) potential benefits. however, no matter how you slice it, this issue is a political minefield an no politician actually expecting to get elected will ever support the idea. such is life. i do think that calling hemp a solution to the nation's energy woes is pseudo-science at best, outright BS at worst. taks

what i hope they DON'T do is make the costume like the previous movies... totally ridiculous. stiff is an understatement. anybody in one of those outfits would be swimming with the fishes in only a few moments with even one competent opponent. no matter how fast you are, when you have to turn your whole body to get any kind of peripheral vision, you're in deep. literally. glug, glug. of course, maybe they never get to that point? taks
-
irrelevant for a couple reasons: 1) gromnir clearly stated "all things being equal" which means big guy is just as quick as small guy... 2) deganawida already pointed out batman's vitals. 6'2", 210 lbs. and lean is big. taks
