if not lacking... taks

uh, i never said it wasn't. fear is the goal. it is a benefit in and of itself simply because it is the means by which terrorist organizations survive. taks

most terrorists are actually just misguided, albeit fanatical, followers of some charismatic nut-job. in the case of al qaeda, that nut-job is bin laden. no, we would not. terrorist organization leaders specifically target those that are easily manipulated (for whatever reason) as their "soldiers." this is no different than any cult in the rest of the world. their actions, however, are different. true on the former statement. unfortunate, but true. however, the same sense of dignity that we may be stepping on is somehow lost when people like zarqawi ask followers to blow themselves up in the name of "the cause." funny how that works. the soldiers themselves probably are not, but the leaders are. their purpose is fear. this is how they lead. not through respect, but intimidation. the easiest way to intimidate is to commit violent acts. no. ignoring them or negotiating with them will exacerbate the situation. their publicly expressed "goals," whatever they may be, are merely facades. the leaders want fear. they may want either anarchy or total control in the end, acheived through fear. nothing different than hitler or stalin, they just disguise their true motives in a different way. this "nationalistic anger" you speak of is a myth. most people are decent enough to realize what is wrong with the picture at hand, they're just afraid of speaking out. uh, not true... i'll find some examples, but this type of thing has existed for centuries. we just didn't have mass media till the mid-20th century. that's all. taks

i've never heard a bigger bunch of BS. it is being defined as stated by kumquat above. just because you seem to think differently does not make it so. those that we are calling "terrorists" are bombing civilian settlements, taking down public buildings, blowing up public airlines and committing other acts of violence in order to reach a political goal. in the end, however, their primary goal is fear. not by me or anyone else that thinks as i do. sorry bud, but the palestinian is walking into a cafe full of civilians with a bomb strapped to his chest. the purpose of such an act is to create an atmosphere of fear. the very essence of terrorism as defined by kumquat. how you can fathom equating these things is beyond rational thought. of course, in order for such rationalizations to hold, little facts like the latter must be left out. not surprising. taks

not just left wing nut jobs (or right wing) you gotta worry about with this site, i'd say nut jobs in general. i like the "rebuttal to popular mechanics" thing regarding 9/11... pure conspiracy theorist crap. shoulda labelled it "we're just going to ignore science and claim PM is full of it!" what maroons... taks

there's an overly presumptive statement if i've ever heard one! taks

if you wanna bash the US, you'll have good company over there. most of the "politics" are focused primarily on that. there are a few crusaders defending against such talk, but they are in the minority. foul language is not really the norm, however, at least it is not nearly as acceptable as at the codex. taks

but if you want to rp as a hack-n-slash player, you get screwed with this idea. this has been debated to death, btw. taks

superman's suit was sewn by his "mother" as well... the funny part is that apparently the fabric in his suit is capable of withstanding light-speed generated friction. i'd have guessed he'd have been nekkid in just a few moments. taks

isn't lexx the one that seems to focus on various sexual perversions? i didn't like it much. taks

stealth technology already employs similar methods but with EM scattering and absorptive materials. the stealth fighter has a radar cross-section of a duck (or smaller)... taks

i'm a battlestar galactica fan... of course, i remember when the original debuted, and i remember crying (figuratively) when it was cancelled (i was 11 when it went down). the new show is pretty interesting on many levels. however, i hate how obvious they make baltar... any good leader would immediately be able to pick up on the man's obvious "breaks" from reality. but, suspension of disbelief is always required in any sci-fi show. taks

oh, you mean kinda like kevin costner!? hehe, yes, sarcasm, i know... baaaaad taks, baaaaaaaaad taks. ahem. worst. actor. ever. taks

i think the calming affect actually comes simply from the fact that you're feeding your addiction. this happens with nearly all forms of addiction. taks

huh? since when? either way, not EA's spin machine... atari's spin machine! taks

no, you can't. not without changing the firmware in the drive. however, the CRC check is there for your protection. if you get a CRC error, the corruption is possibly enough to cause massive problems with the file or program you're trying to read. corrupted data in a program can be much worse than a typical bug in a program. system stability problems could easily be expected. taks

no, that was a statement regarding either DA from bioware or Oblivion from bethesda, I can't recall which. neither of which involves the BG license. taks

nicotine has a relaxing affect after you've become fully addicted AND, you have high levels of nicotine in your system for long periods of time. if you only do it once in a while, it's more of an upper. oh, i know this from experience... i'll never be completely a non-smoker, unfortunately. taks

a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) (edit: oops, wrong definition, i'm typing ahead of my thinking)... correct definition: a CRC is generated by sending a data stream, bitwise, through a linear feedback shift register (LFSR) configured with certain tap outputs XOR'd together. once the last bit is stuffed into the pipe is the CRC value, attached to the end of the data stream as a word (two bytes, perhaps, for a 16-bit CRC). it is a very simple method of detecting, but not correcting, possible errors. CRCs have a very low probability of "missing" an error. in other words, if you have a bad bit, the CRC may not match and the data essentially gets dropped. CDs go bad over time (particularly older CDs as the materials were not of the same quality as today's), and even very small scratches may result in CRC errors. however, i have also seen rather deep scratches result in zero errors... taks

uh, actually, the free expansion, Trials of the Luremaster, was a result of a short Heart of Winter, a $30 expansion to IWD1, not IWD2, but the point is still valid. they were forced to rush both HoW and IWD2. taks

actually it's MSN einstein... they use fox sports. get a clue. mkreku unable to see past his ideology. what a suprise. perhaps you should learn to lay off the snide remarks and make sure you don't say ridiculous things like this in the future. taks
