  1. not really. certainly the phrase does not exist, only the establishment clause which was originally intended (primarily) to keep government out of religion, not the other way around. the interpretation is certainly there in precedent over the years... personally, i think that if we'd just drop the whole notion of federally funded, and required, detention camps for children, there'd be no "under god" issue at all. where in the constitution is it stated that children be required to go to state sponsored schools? taks

not till al gore came on to the scene... taks
  3. reputable boards typically frown on sock puppets... pathetic, IMO... taks
  4. ahhhh! jamie is great. odd, sure, but i love his cooking shows. of course, i spend more time on food tv than any other now... well, adult swim on toon channel (or is it noggin?). everyone needs michael moore in order to be able to claim the moral high ground... right, left, it does not matter. we all look better when he's around. shark bait? i'd say any actor/actress without a college education that thinks it's OK to call others, with said education, stupid. you kinda lose that right when you fail to make it yourself, regardless of your reasons. taks
  5. it got blipped while i was posting... i saw it, then hit "submit" and it was gone... taks
  6. they should learn to use proper terminology in such articles... one of thse days. oh, in point, the "circuits" in semiconductor devices are not limited to about 40 nm. the channels (aka features), however, are. the circuits are much larger, consisting of many channels. also, it's not really silicon that is limiting the channel size, but the mask process, which is created using UV light. taks

lots of good ideas from there for sure... ironic that greece traditionally has a a difficult time with democracy since then, however. taks
  8. ah, yes, being a "right wing ****" and all that... you're a good laugh, for sure. btw, for the record, "right wing" implies, among other things fascism and christianity. i'm a capitalist atheist so really the term "right wing" does not apply even remotely. either that or you don't understand the definitions of different political ideologies. tell me, do you base every comment you make on ad hominems? taks
  9. nice to be able to invent quotes for people out of context just to further your own cause. also nice that only liberals care about civil rights. btw, i bet you o'reilly does more for blacks and/or underpriveleged than you do. taks
  10. didn't say it was, i said it was a WWoT type board... i.e. it wasn't for stuff particularly related to BIS. i didn't post there much, as i noted, since i was primarily involved simply to get info on the BGs. around the time YoP went away, i started posting more, however, and changed my name to taks, my real-life nick (posted with my in-game <CHARNAME> before that...) i wasn't nearly as motivated by society then, either, so political/economic/philosophical things weren't on my radar. plus, i was single, even less motivation to be deep. yrkoon still grates on me and i haven't read a post of his in over a year. taks
  11. most of those names are the foundation of mistress lair. in particular, they were almost all big regulars in YOP (Ye Olde Pages) whic was the Way Way Off Topic type board. it got closed due to high levels of lunacy, as i recall, which is really where missy's lair came from. at that time, i concentrated on mostly game related (BG) topics, but ended up over at missy's until yrkoon finally grated my last nerve off. taks

it seems you guys may be arguing the merits of democracy vs. republic, which is what most democratic nations are, i.e. elect government officials to make most policy decisions for you. taks
  13. ya'll actually ought to read the whole story with the coffee lady. she did NOT want to sue, she only wanted mcdonald's to pay for her medical bills. the mcdonald's lawyers went to task with legal maneuvers, refusing to pay, and the whole thing ended up in court. in the end, the jury decided that what mcdonald's did after the fact was worth punishment. in the end, she got about $600k. taks
  14. yrkoon and i did battle, often, over at mistress' lair. i had plenty of fun wrapping him around on his own arguments until he actually began to defend my original argument. easy fodder due to poor debate skills. whether or not STB is really yrkoon is beyond me. last i heard, he was defiling my home town of st. louis, missouri (STB says norwich, UK). taks
  15. if the shoe fits... better than your flame, even if it was weak. taks
  16. or maybe, strangely, i was at work and unavailable? i regularly slam the UN. every chance i get. i have made my views more than available to anyone who asks. it was founded by communists, it's documents were forged by communists (algier hiss, anyone?), it is run by communists and has plans for communist world rule. the UN is an unelected, and therefore unrepresentative, bureaucratic cluster**** that has its own interests at heart. the UN does not care about the people of the world. it cares only for putting the powerful in their place, subservient to the "elite" leadership of the world. evidence for a pattern of abuse and corruption is not only readily available, it's blatantly out in the open. the UN is a scourge and any freedom loving individual in the entire world should openly object to continued support of such a criminal organization. taks
  17. you're right... i can't even contribute substance as great as this, an obvious flame. oh boy, you're really posting from a moral high ground, aren't you? good job, such moderating powers are obviously well earned. taks
  18. well, he did do better than kerry at yale, so i guess you guys on the left ran a bigger idiot. both of which, again, have degrees from yale... and btw, exactly where does YOUR lofty perch come from allowing you to comment as such? yet, no ideas on what he should have done. pretty good poll there. an even better argument. and let's digest your argument... hmmm, WTC hit by planes, president speaking to children, AHHHHH! run, run now, quick, hold up the towers! yes, that's it! now you're simply being a hypocrite. because it wasn't. it should be eliminated, or at least the US should withdraw. taks
  19. because that was the stupidest statement in this whole thread. otherwise, there is some good debate to be read... ok, now wait... it's NOT ok for me to comment on an ideological rant, but it's ok for commissar to make it? particularly one that has nothing to do with the thread in the first place. folks like you just need to air your gripe that such a dumb republican got elected again. you're right, there's a whole big world out there and idiotic statements dwelling on irrelevant issues need to be dropped for substantive discussion. get over yourself... taks
  20. too bad the less intelligent took it as one... taks
  21. oh there's a good one... one that has so many similar incidences for comparison, it's almost silly that you even mention it. no, wait, it is silly. about as silly as calling bush dumber than kerry... i still chuckle. taks
  22. all i know is that yrkoon is the only idiot i've EVER seen post evidence that refutes his own argument. with intelligence like that, no wonder debates don't happen anymore. taks
  23. according to askaroo, referring to the term Mebi: given that i have been a member of the IEEE, receiving the IEEE Spectrum (membership trade rag) for going on a dozen years now, i'd say i have a good insight into what they've been pushing. the new IEC standard is not one of those things, whether they like it or not. they may officially support it, but i don't hear anybody chanting "Mebi, Gibi, Tibi, RAH!"... nobody i know in the industry uses the terms, either. we are ingrained with 1 MB = 1024 kB. "Mega, Giga and Tera RAH!" and yes, b = bit, B = byte. drives me bonkerdoodles (highly technical term) to hear it used otherwise. taks
