  1. i won't buy anything major from best buy. i did buy some laptop mammaries once, and i don't mind spending money on a hard drive there, particularly the externals (like the seagate pro backup drive i had at the office). taks
  2. yeah, but being a hired political assassin doesn't really work out in the long run, IMO, so be thankful you chose another path. taks

    Baseball!

carp is 14-3 with a 2.16 era. only 2 others in the NL with 14 wins, and they have more losses (8 and 7). i'm seeing another cy young in carp's future! woohoo! taks
  4. well i NEVER! good sir my ass... um, ribbing you, dude. i mean, you do have an avatar picture that has a lipstick i heart u on it and all... taks
  5. NO! i started to watch that dungeon siege one and almost puked. i've had enough uwe for a lifetime. madsen was in something else i watched tonight... oh yeah, kill bill vol. 2. one of the dumbest but coolest movies ever. madsen wasn't very good in that but there was intentional camp going on with all the performances. watched another artsy flick tonight. literally, a movie about art, sort of. we have the MGMHD channel for a while (some promo i guess) and art school confidential was on. very strange movie with john malkovitch in it. he was a pretentious, albeit very strange, art professor at an art school. the movie was about this student that was trying to find his "style" and be a great artist while trying to get the girl played by sophia myles (quite beautiful naked.) there were some murders going on in the background that got tied into the student's story at the end. the movie was simply strange, very cynical. the acting was great, however, though the script did not often make much sense. worth a watch at least. taks
  6. you seem like the sort of guy that would be giddy... looks like the rays won it, GD, so did the cardinals. yay! taks
  7. like i said, the chick was better, and she's not really that good to begin with. i'm not a uwe boll expert, however, and i don't argue that he doesn't make actors look bad. i just thought "i've never seen anyone act this poorly except in pr0n." taks
  8. i watched some stupid movie called the forbidden warrior or something the other night. it had potential, in spite of being stupid, but then it just sort of... ended. like "what? isn't she supposed to face of with the guy that ordered her capture?" the whole story was about this "warrior" that was some how prophesied to do something, and this evil king that needed to capture her. they even had this cool book that only the warrior could read with his magic (turned out to be a chick, but they didn't know that at the time)... that whole part of the story just got dropped when she killed off the baddies that were hunting her. i hate unfinished stupid movies. must've been a uwe bolll joint or something. taks
  9. 3 of the stupidest movies i've ever seen. i liked bull durham in spite of costner's horrible acting. you're right, it's hard to be that bad, be the lead actor in so many flops, and still be considered a star. madsen has his work cut out for him if he wants to live up to that legacy. taks
  10. i haven't seen mr. brooks, but most of costner's parts are very, very stiff, almost unbearable. he's been given lots of opportunity for flops. sure, give him credit for being smart enough to know what it is that he's good at - being stiff. i agree, btw, that madsen has had several roles that require the same, and it works. this one... did not. taks

    memristors

i don't have anything to add, either - at least, nothing specific to the technology or applications that i already discussed. what i found interesting is that now the government wants in on it. they're going through the SBIR venue which is puzzling. small businesses are driving the SDR world, however, so maybe that's why. taks

    memristors

than if i put it in tech. once we have a few people commenting, maybe it should be moved. anyway, i'm browsing the SBIR list today and i notice this topic under the navy list: N093-222 Memristor Implementation in Software Defined Radio Hardware Architecture the description can be found here. a funny line from the description: indeed. taks
  13. yes, after 2004 with the prescott core, which was the first of their standard line to use the x86-64 instruction set (the itanium was 64-bit after 2001 i believe.) amd had its version out a year prior with the opteron. here's a list. ^morgoth: are games really having issues, or is it just older games? i wonder if the issues occur under proper compatibility mode settings or not? taks
  14. i used to think so, though thinking back, he's always been a little stiff. some people think costner is a good character actor, too. he's only got one character that i've ever seen. i just don't buy that as an excuse. even a good actor should be able to come across better than madsen did in that flick. the chick (kristanna) wasn't as bad as he was and she's not a very good actress to begin with. of course, i may have been overlooking her stinktitude due to my desire to get into her pants... well, this is true. i haven't the foggiest idea how someone could be lured into that trap. oerwinde is right on, the man must be a genius. either that or he's a blackmailer. taks
  15. yes. intel hasn't released a 32-bit processor since the pentium 4 chips in 2000. taks

    Baseball!

i had SD up on game day when it went down... first i was thrilled that eckstein got driven in for the tie. then i was thinking "wow, wouldn't that be cool if SD got a homer to win it?" er, yup! a chitown loss means the redbirds are 6.0 games ahead now (16 above .500, too.) taks

    Baseball!

so carp is 13-3 after a 2-run, 8-inning win against the dodgers. the redbirds have a team! taks
  19. i watched part of bloodrayne last night. man is michael madsen a bad actor. i mean, i understand the script, story, direction, filming, <insert every other possible aspect of movie making here> are all bad, but oof, how can an actor be THAT bad yet have starred in so many otherwise decent roles? heck, he's got 30 or so flicks coming out in just 2009/2010 alone. he's everywhere. i never understood why people want uwe boll to die. now i do. kristanna loken... mmmm. with kate beckinsale... mmmm. taks
  20. so they have machines now that process warranties? do you eat them, or sprinkle them on the lawn as fertilizer or something else alltogether? taks
  21. i agree, potty training sucks. hopefully i'll graduate to regular tighty whities soon. these pull-ups are chafing me something serious. taks

  23. a couple videos from the end of the backpack trip i took this summer, after about 35-40 miles of hiking over 4 days through the weminuche wilderness. some guy (wayne) took a video of us as we crossed the bridge. his wife was out of energy so we gave her some jerky and chocolate bars and he agreed to post a video of us in return. nice people, btw. we were pretty tired though we had only been hiking for a few hours that day. we had about two miles and 1500 feet to go. down is actually more difficult than up sometimes. oh, the "other guy" is kurt, and i'm sure you can figure out which one i am. standing over the waterfall at the weminuche creek "bridge" above 30-mile campground. time to leave because we wanted real food. i think i had several hot dogs and lots of potato chips. taks
  24. i remember watching this but i also seem to remember a different ending than the one they describe at imdb. maybe i'm mixing this with another movie. taks
  25. not me... soon, maybe. it's not like i have any NEW games to play these days anyway and i rarely do anything other than open a word or pdf file or browse the web. /grumble taks
