  1. Power went out last night so we wrapped presents with flashlights instead of watching Hogfather. Kids were awful today, son got all his presents taken away because he refused to stop playing to clean up his garbage. Dropped my disabled sister in law when trying to take her to the car to drive her home after nearly passing out from the exertion of carrying her down the stairs. Wife has pneumonia so I had to do all the cleaning, cooking, errand running, etc. as well. Sister sent me an amazon.com gift card instead of amazon.ca and I redeemed it without thinking. This was fixed easily last time she did this when the rep just zeroed my balance and refunded the gift card. Apparently their reps now are retarded because they couldn't figure that out and now I may be stuck with 20 bucks of Amazon.com credit that is next to useless. They can deliver your **** with drones. They can refund a goddamned gift card. Anyway. I'm burnt out from all the people and need to veg with some fallout for a bit. Once again sacrificing sleep for recharge time.
  2. Definitely the most excited I've been for a fox superhero movie
  3. Guy smoked a power pole. No power until approx. 2am. Haven't wrapped any presents. Usual Christmas eve is wrapping while watching The Hogfather.
  4. Didn't Activision reform Sierra specifically to do smaller nostalgia projects? Maybe you guys could pitch something similar in scope to PoE, or do a partial publisher partial crowdfunded deal to make something bigger.
  5. I thought the gameplay, particularly the combat, in TW2 was an order of magnitude better than in TW1, and the voice acting and dialogue were much superior too. As far as the actual story, though, I though TW1 was significantly better. Overall, though, I definitely think TW2 is better than TW1. I liked the branching story in TW2. I liked how you could play through a completely different 2nd and 3rd chapter based on your decision in chapter 1. This.
  6. Kinda wish they had a game of the year upgrade pass like a lot of other games have. So you can buy all the dlc together, because yeah, 55 bucks for the dlc or 50 for the game of the year edition is just mean to early purchasers
  7. Max Landis compared Rey to John Cena because she constantly succeeds against all odds and its boring. I like this comparison (though... rule of cool so I didn't mind her constant success because it always resulted in fun scenes)
  8. Trailer looked awesome. Nice to see it didn't disappoint.
  9. The enjoyment I get out of it is I'm a big kid. All the New Hope references had me grinning rather than complaining that it was derivative. Even the end I was like "NICE, THEY ARE FLYING THROUGH A TRENCH!" *big grin* Haters gotta hate.
  10. I can't help but notice that all of the first ones you said are all sci-fi. Now, that's not necessarily bad, but... 1. StarCraft II is a complete no go, especially in light of the campaign being ...not very good, and the multiplayer custom game system being pretty terrible compared to Warcraft 3, and myself not particularly caring for the ultra-micro-management style of the standard Blizzard RTS gameplay style, 2. Act of Aggression doesn't look that good, 3. 4X is quite possibly my least favorite strategy sub-genre, 4. Grey Goo and Planetary Annihilation look like they could be alright, and 5. I have absolutely zero love for city builders or sims, so I have little interest in your final two suggestions. Overall, I don't have much interest in any these suggestions, probably being the most open to Planetary Annihilation and Grey Goo, but both still elect a sort of "meh" response. Yeah, I don't really enjoy Far Cry, the two newer Wolfensteins look mildly interesting at least gameplay wise (although I haven't actually played them), so I'll give you that...I did not like Dying Light (and the story was laughably bad to boot), and Alien: Isolation was...just O.K., really. It started out pretty good, but the game lasted way too stinking long for its own good, and definitely outstayed its welcome. I don't know about Dirty Bomb. Don't have a PS4, otherwise I'd probably at least try Bloodborne (although I despised Dark Souls 2, even though I quite enjoyed Dark Souls 1, so I'm not sure how that would actually turn out), the more I played and tried to enjoy PoE, the more I disliked it, I thought the first Witcher was terrible in gameplay, story, and characters and have never looked back since trying to play through it. I did not like either Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas, and I did not enjoy the first two Dragon Ages, so I'm hardly likely to try new entries in either series. UnderRail, Age of Decadence, and Shadowrun all look like they might be O.K., though: unsure how much they might suffer the same issues I have with PoE. I just don't enjoy the products of the modern gaming industry very much these days. I've probably gotten too much into the mindset of if something doesn't just instantly jump out as seeming appealing to me, I'm probably not gonna like it (which probably becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy), and...hardly anything ever jumps out at me as something that I'd like. I guess my tastes are probably overdeveloped these days, which makes it hard to enjoy anything that doesn't perfectly fit one of my particular niches. I say give Witcher 2 a go sometime. Story and characters are a big improvement over Witcher 1,gameplay is entirely different, and you can usually grab it on sale at gog for like 2.50 like 6 or 7 times a year.
  11. I liked that Luke had Anakin's hair from episode 3.
  12. I loved bb-8, like R2 but with less confidence. Him and Chopper from Star Wars Rebels are amazingly the characters with most personality in each of their series
  13. From what little I saw of him when not snoozing I was similarly unimpressed, but the thought of Kreia being the antagonist instead...you know if I were Disney i'd simply make the two KotOR games into films, they're halfway there already and just need a competent hand to polish and distill. HK-47 on film... Did not know I wanted this until now.
  14. He is the McGuffin Bearer. Safe to say he will not have a major role in ep 8. His character actually really bugged me because they talked about him like he was a returning character but he wasn't. I'm wondering if he was originally Wedge but when the actor turned it down they just took out the references to his name.
  15. They spent half the movie playing up how effective Chewie's bowcaster was too. Sending stormtroopers flying from the impact and such.
  16. Two biggest problems with fo4 are the voiced protagonist, which adds nothing to the game due to its first person nature and limits dialogue. And the perk/skill overhaul which reduces gameplay depth. Since its essentially the same engine as fallout 3/new vegas I don't think it would be too hard to bring skills back, and the dialogue system is easily fixed by not having a voiced protagonist. So we could pretty easily get a game on the level of New Vegas at least
  17. Perhaps for sci-fi franchises, but not for sci-fi movies in general. There was only one notable film that wasn't part of a franchise, Martian, and it was thoroughly average (or poor, considering who was making it). Remakes of decades old films and superhero drivel is what sci-fi has been reduced to in the last, how many (?) years. Even more disturbing than that, the other highly regarded sci-fi film of 2015 is "Ex Machina" (7.7 IMDB rating??!) , a film that would have been considered passe twenty years ago. I say its more disturbing because you can expect a franchise film to get a high rating even when its mediocre because of all the fans, but a no-name effort getting so high up tells me that either the audience has lost its compass as to what makes a good sci fi film, or they artificially inflated the rating. I have yet to watch The Lobster, its supposedly good. FYI, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 also has sci-fi elements. A lot of sci-fi elements. Particularly this last one is way more sci-fi than the last one because it involves futuristic battle scenes. Ant-man also has heavy sci-fi elements even though it was based on a superhero comic books. Jurassic World is also sci-fi. The whole "recreate and splice dinosaurs with DNA" is very sci-fi. While all three are indisputably sci-fi, are we seriously considering the hunger games, ant-man and jurassic world in a best of anything discussion? Ant Man was fantastic.
  18. The SJW sideshow has become the main attraction because the outlets have largely started disclosing, adopting ethics policies, etc. and Gamergate did what feminism did, acted like the unimportant stuff was super important in order to act like the movement was still relevant.
  19. I can't tell if Sunny is supposed to be a wooden charisma-less person, or if the actor sucks.
  20. She'll be more developed in VIII. She was filming Game of thrones and probably couldn't be more involved so they put her there as introduction and a set up character. io9 just wouldn't shut up about her and how amazeballs she was going to be. I think they did like 4 articles on it or something. Saw links to other sites talking her up too.
  21. Kylo Ren is Prequel Anakin as portrayed by a good actor under the guidance of a good director. Looking forward to his character development. Really I enjoyed all the new characters except the First Order general dude. He was trying really hard to be threatening and it just didn't work. Also Phasma was like ridiculously overhyped. She really is the new Boba Fett, look really cool then get taken out really easily after doing literally nothing. Also, Luke's hair.
  22. Sounds like he wasn't creatively fulfilled. For a guy like MCA thats as good as any reason to leave. I hope we see some sort of project with him in the lead at some point.
  23. Will Smith turned it down so they wrote him out of the movie. They approached every cast member of the original that lived except the girl who played the president's daughter(who is still a working actress and headlined her own movie last year so people just assumed they didn't think she was hot enough)
