Was a reference to an actor addressing UK parliament about needing more muslims on TV otherwise they will join ISIS or something.
-
If only there were more muslims on TV, then this never would have happened.

Not surprising. He was so sick he couldn't even be interviewed for the Swamp Thing documentary that came with Justice League Dark.

I honestly don't get the complaints about Iron Fist. So far I'm enjoying it. My biggest complaint is handling Danny's origin through exposition instead of showing it.
-
I'm 9 episodes into Iron Fist. I like it. Its probably the weakest of the series so far, but thats not saying a lot since the other 3 were all fantastic. First episode was structured weird though. I actually rewound it at one point because I felt like I had missed the beginning. I also felt like it didn't make sense for Claire not to immediately put Danny in touch with Daredevil once he brought up the Hand.

It almost sounds like they wanted to avoid the white savior trope stuff so bad they largely ignored Kun-Lun and focused on boring boardroom drama with him trying to claim his company. Supposedly the dragon he punched in the heart to get his powers won't even be seen in season 1.

I loved it. The premise is silly, but its so gorgeous and I don't need my space opera to be award worthy.

The Red Pill. I think the bit that had the biggest impact on me was the bit on Boko Haram and how they had been specifically avoiding harming women in their attacks and had murdered over 2000 boys, but didn't get any media attention in the west until they kidnapped some girls.

Just read a summary on Reddit that basically half the stretch goals got cut, including like 3 or 4 companions.

I was told it was a stroke during heart surgery. Which suuuuucks.

I've only had one combat encounter so far, but my effort points were enough to handle it. As you level up I imagine increased effort points combined with edges will give you more to work with.

Paradox announcing their first convention in epic style.

It reminded me of a cross between Assassins Creed 3 and The Witcher.

Congress passed a law in the 50s giving the president the power to deny entry to any group of "aliens" if he believes them to be a detriment to US interests. The 1965 immigration act makes discrimination based on various factors illegal, but religion is not one of those factors. So my understanding is if the EO actually was a flat out ban on all muslims, it would still be legal. Its not though. Its basically just lefties opposing Trump because they hate him and Trump being a giant baby about it.

Hopefully doesn't disappoint.

Huh. Well I know humor can be subjective, but I'm a bit surprised that wasn't worth at least a chuckle for you. I mean, they nailed the makeup, CNN is wearing a diaper, she pulls out a super soaker. Honestly I thought it was pretty spot on. This is my favourite Trump impersonator. I think one of the big problems when it comes to describing something as right wing, is people have different definitions of right wing. Conservatives see the right wing as championing small government and personal liberty, "Liberals" see nationalism as the only requirement for being right wing. As much as Stephen Molyneux has some questionable arguments, he is right that you need to define terms before entering a debate, as arguing with different definitions I would say is the biggest source of political disagreement.

I don't feel like looking up all their names right now. It's the groups that have been rioting over the past couple of years, BLM, Occupy, etc. Antifa is a big one. These protesters are incredible. They destroy property, assault people, and demand the police assault their ideological enemies, all while calling the free speech and personal liberty activists fascists.

That's just outright false. Their DLC practices are the best in the industry. They were... It's gone downhill. They used to sell all sorts of little cosmetic stuff piece by piece for super cheap so you could pick and choose, and their big DLC packs were like 10-15 bucks. Now they charge 15-20 for packs not nearly as big or good, and bundle all the little stuff into 5-8 dollar packs. I'd argue that pricing and value of content can't be a deciding factor in whether a DLC policy is good or bad as every individual will have their own determination of whether the price is worth it or not. What makes Paradoc's DLC policy good is that none of it required to play, and it comes with free patches that add content as well as bug fixes for those that decide not to purchase the DLC. Well, some of it is required to play... When EU4 switched to the development system for tax and manpower, all the provinces were stuck in low values, and you needed to buy the DLC to raise it, which meant pretty much the entire new world was 1/1/1 for the entire game.

I used to really like Modesitt's work, but I guess it was about the 10th novel or so of his that I realized that every single book felt like it read exactly the same way. A main character that is a little stubborn at times, but not too stubborn that you'd call them stupid or unable to adapt, who's always mildly to moderately more intelligent than seemingly most everyone else (but no more than that), who makes all sorts of superficial mistakes and has similarly superficial character flaws, but who never really truly fails at anything or has any sort of real (and never mind fatal) flaws, who always ends up seemingly stronger than most everyone else by the end of the book or series. It plays out the same way, series after series, standalone novel after standalone novel. I like his writing, but I can't stomach reading the same basic narrative over and over like that. In Modesitt's quest for steady, logical, and realistic character and narrative progression, his books start to feel very hollow and unrealistic when it's the same story, again and again. It would be very difficult for me to differentiate between the main characters of his different series, besides very on-the-surface stuff like...whether they're a man or a woman, what kind of things do they like to drink, do they like music, whether they came from humble beginnings or whether they were born into their position, etc. These are not real character differences, Mr. Modesitt: they're just silly superficial details. I want a protagonist that doesn't actually act exactly the same way as every single one of your other protagonists acts like. Gwar. Thanks for the link, though. The thing that baffles me about Modesitt's work is how engrossed I become in the mundane. Like nothing really happens through most of the books, but for some reason I'm edge of my seat. Its like somehow he can make cleaning the sewers interesting.

been reading this: https://www.amazon.ca/Life-Times-Joseph-McPhee-Courtenays/dp/0969629117 About my Great Great Great Grandfather. I knew I was descended from a prominent family in Courtenay, but didn't realize I was descended from the founder.

That description makes me really want to watch now.

So we had Miguel Ferrer, Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Mary Tyler Moore, and now John Hurt. 2017 seems to be off to a bad start.
