Completed the OC again last week. (Last time I played it was when it released.) Played an evil character and it was fun. Don't get the hate It gets on various interenet forums. Most of the companions are a bit annoying and the story isn't Obsidian's best, but I had a lot of fun with the gameplay. Oh, and I really like the music. I've heard the camera is broken, but I played from a top down view and never had a problem. Currently playing MotB. It's very good, but handling your spirit hunger is a bit annoying. I've been doing quests in Mulsantir and am about to face a boss outside of town. So far, three people have joined me and they are all some sort of caster, so I'm happy my guy is a melee fighter. The few new musical scores they added are also really good. The writing is also improved and companions are not annoying. I do have two questions: Are there any must play modules? Kaedrin's Class Pack - Yay or nay? Seems like he put down a lot of work, but does it make the game unbalanced?

It'll be cool to see the game from this early on and see how it gradually changes to the final product.

I'm expecting the worst. This way I can't be disappointed.

Maybe they do rehire, but the people who had these positions have found a new workplace? -

Eh, no FMV movies, turn based fights and cartoony look. I'll pass -
Are the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games anything like New Vegas? (No VATS, I know that much.) The games look very interesting, but I'm not a big fan of first person perspective. Does it play more like a shooter, or can you actually survive even if you suck at FPS games?

I'm currently watching Cowboy Bebop and enjoying it despite the animations not being the best. But then again, it is an old series.

Dungeon Siege III is on a flash sale.

I was wondering why I could not recommend it on STEAM. I wanted to buy A Farewell to Dragons was also taken down, a game I had interest in.

I was going to make a joke about how grindy your games are, but then I couldn't come up with anything. I have never felt that I have had to grind in any of Obsidian's games to be honest. You gain your levels as you progress, but I have never felt that I had to respawn enemies to gain more levels. I remember in AP, when I was at the end in Russia that I was stuck at the last boss fight. I just couldn't beat it on my first playthrough. So I decided to go to other areas and become stronger. But I wouldn't call it grindy, because at the same time as I gained exp, I still progressed the story. Grinding for me is when you just run around killing enemies over and over to become stronger. -

Honestly I can describe the games as "button-mashing done right", but since you're new my advice is that the boss fights can sometimes be unforgiving, especially at higher difficulty settings so don't feel bad or anything if you end up lowering them. Also the plots are relatively self contained (though ys doesn't place heavy emphasis on them, unlike Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky) so you won't miss much starting with either-or (but if you really want to play in some chronological order: Ys Orign would be #0, Felghana is #3, you can find the rest out by looking at wikipedia). Played up to the first boss and really enjoyed it. Buttonmashy indeed, but I don't mind. It's really fun, and that's what matters. I hope there will be more platforming, I liked that too. The boss took me down on my first try. I wasn't sure what to do, so I went in for some ground 'n pound, but he lay the smack on me. I knew I shouldn't have attacked him when he took the shape of many bats or whatever it was. Killed him on my second try by not using the normal attack. I used Whirlwind and then ran to replenish mp. I guess that was how it was intended, but I'm not sure. It isn't difficult, it's more about watching the pattern at the beginning of the battle and then patiently take advantage when the boss leaves an opening. (Playing on Nornal.) The music is great. I can't believe I haven't heard about how good the music is. The story will probably not be the highlight of the game, but it seems like it will be charming. Funny dialogue at times.

Ofcourse, I would do the same. But let us say the game with good graphics is sold for $50-60 like they are now, and the one with lesser graphics would be sold for $30-40, or something like that. I'm not saying that developers shouldn't go for good graphics, be it with good tech knowledge or good design. I'm just saying that not every studio has the resources to do it, but do it anyway and then go under. How many studios has not been closed down this gen? How many more studios will get closed down? When I read that some mid tier games need to sell 2 million copies to be profitable, I start to wonder what the hell is wrong. (I blame mismanagement too, by the way.)
-
You're right, but I'm not talking about only party based rpgs. I mean that some studios have the money or know-how to produce games with great graphics and still make a profit. Other studios that don't have these resources should not focus on AAA graphics if they can't pull it off, or if they can but at the cost of maybe going under. I like playing games with great graphics, but it shouldn't be the selling point of a game. But I know better than that, good graphics is what a lot of players want these days, and frankly, I can't blame them.

I'll most likely post impressions when I start playing, but bear in mind that I'm new to the series. So I won't be able to compare it to other Ys games (yet).

Fallout: New Vegas on PC (Completed the PS3 version, but no way was I going to replay that considering the Gamebryo runs like ****. At the end of the campaign, the framerate was 10fps or something like that.) No kills playthrough. The only time I used a weapon was to shoot some bottles, but I skipped the tutorial that tells you to go kill some geckos. I'll get to see a lot of new conversation choices this way. Last time I played, I had Sneak, Energy Weapons and Repair tagged, plus lots of strength and Agility. Started Mask of the Betrayer. P laying a fighter/monk, so no spellcaster as I had initially planned. Did play around with different builds before settling on this one. I like melee, and I like the fact that I can run away quickly (coward!) when in danger.
-
Why ? Did you find it became boring ? I have never had the game myself. I used to go over to a friend and play it on his PC. I didn't even reach the halfway point, but it's one of those games I'll get from GoG and complete someday.

I see, then I'll play them in the order they came out. Planning to play an evil character all the way through. Orchomene: I played IWD2 many years ago but have never finished it. One many games in my backlog.

Just completed NWN2 OC again, playing an evil ***hole. This time I played as a Ranger/Spirit Shaman, but I did regret picking SS. Should have gone Ranger/Monk instead. I will start MotB for the first time tomorrow. Not sure what type of character I'll use. Might try a caster, because I rarely play as one. I sort of want to save MotB and play SoZ first. Do the stories connect or anything like that?
