  1. I thought the main focus was killing things with lots of blood splattering everywhere. Maybe they should call it dark romantic fantasy?
  2. After a while the hits weren't that random. Just pressing the attack button did one move, pressing a direction key while attacking did a different one etc. The combat was still pretty random, though. I guess it could have used a block or parry key. It was still a ton of fun, just force pushing the reborn masters down cliffs, getting that awesome hit only to switch to the slo-mo cam and the acrobatics were pretty sweet as well. I really liked the unscripted battles where you could finish off Desann in one lucky hit and not some unearthly 10-step quicktime event.
  3. I have a bad feeling about this. JA pretty much perfected the lightsaber combat with the dual sabers and saber staff. If they built upon that and made an AAA game today, it would be awesome. The JKII/JA style of saber combat would work pretty well with a controller too, it's sad that they went with crappy quicktime events for TFU.
  4. Bull, that's just snobbery on the part of some people who think themselves above Lego. Having played them, they're fun, witty, and, dare I mention it again, fun. I don't care about your views on Lego; I will proudly attest to still playing with it, and I see nothing wrong with that. Oh sure they're fun, but just retelling the Star Wars story with Legos isn't really on bar with Jedi Knight or Kotor. It's pretty much just mindless fun.
  5. Huh? I didnt realize discussing something = making a big deal out of it. It's just that it's such a minute part of the game. I guess Aries really started it.
  6. Im not worked up in the least. I have no pony in this race and my PC, still sporting a single core processor, would receive a Strong Forward Punch to the nads even trying to install it. I just think its weird thing to include. I agree that it's a bit weird, but why make a big deal out of it when you won't even be playing the game? They weren't the one's creating it. It came from the ESRB ratings board's summary, I'm sure they're not really happy about the buzz it generated.
  7. That's what the ESRB synopsis said. I don't care what weird fetish they put in thre, it's nothing to get worked up about. At worst it's a bad joke and you don't laugh. What do you expect to get when you go to a brothel in a fantasy world and ask them to "suprise you"? Getting a sheep is arguably better than getting turned into one, right?
  8. I didn't say it was funny. My point is that it's just a (somewhat tasteless) joke and not "zomg DA has beastiality!!".
  9. It's more of an implied joke than anything else.
  10. I think the fired last of the internal developers after TFU went gold. LA has lost all the credibility they had.
  11. No, it's not the same LA, the LA we knew and loved is dead and buried. The thing that calls itself Lucas Arts and even wears its rotting flesh over it's true form is an abomination summoned by Lucas himself to feed on the the disappointment and despair created by the various Lego titles and now The Force Unleashed. There is nothing left of the original Lucas Arts, it is but a twisted mockery of all the good that the LA of old has done. It's a bit like the zombie Goofy from Warren Spector's Epic Mickey:
  12. Day of the Tentacle Loom Fate of Atlantis Full Throttle Grim Fandango The latest of which was released 11 years ago. LA used to be awesome, but no longer.
  13. That looks horrible, even for an MMO. Even Hearts of Iron has more intuitive interface.
  14. The joke is that Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds was just Age of Empires reskinned to look like Star Wars:
  15. The Dyack debacle is like the worst case scenario, I brought it up because it's the only other case I can think of. I agree that they aren't equal.

My post is perfectly plain. If you don't understand some part of it, feel free to point it out and I'll explain. Joke post?
  17. And they could re-skin AoE III this time insted of AoE II! Oh snap! I could see potential there if they reskinned Company of Heroes or something.
  18. Has anything ever changed in a games development because of people complaining about it on the boards? He should just accept that some people have entitlement issues. By snapping back(not this incident but in general) at the trolls he is speaking for the whole company and possibly creating a PR nightmare.
  19. I don't disagree with your point, but the only thing worse than people complaining about stuff is an actual developer stooping down to the troll's level. That's what the community managers and moderators are for, the developer is only going to end up looking stupid. It can't be that difficult to understand that you can't please everyone.
  20. If you do anything public, you are open to being scrutinized, often wrongly and by crazy misguided jerks. Telling off those damn anonymous internet jerks is only going to make you look like an angry jerk as well. It only makes him look like someone who will lose his cool at the slightest provocation, normal people learn to deal with it. EDIT: I refer you to the Denis Dyack(designer of Too Human) incident on the NeoGAF forums where he made a total joke of himself.
  21. To be fair, if you are reading the forum, you should know what to expect. Everyone who's been on the internet for a while now should know that most people are jerks and love to complain about everything. Any developer who gets personally offended by some random people on the internet needs to grow a thicker skin or stop reading that stuff. Also, everyone LOVES getting a reaction out of someone, especially an angry one. He's not really helping his case by responding.
  22. No prob, your post just came out of nowhere Part of the problem with sexual content in games is the developers and publishers themselves. Everyone makes a big deal about it and the publishers make a huge selling point out of it and in the end it becomes a gimmick. The developers should take it more seriously and just let it become a normal part of the story, like in movies.
  23. Yes. They would. In Obsidian games, love interests exist to die, betray you, or be forever apart from you via the cruel machinations of fate. So it like Joss Whedon's stuff? All I want is more Jedi Knight, the lightsaber combat was awesome.
  24. Woah, dude, I don't have anything against the brothel. I made the post, because the dudes at Idle Thumbs were making fun of it and it seemed like something funny to revive the thread. I'm all for **** and brothels in my games, don't get your panties in a bunch.
