  1. But it has a funny name
  2. Call it horror with fantasy elements and you'll get 2x the sales. Or maybe an epic adventure of discovery and horror.
  3. Fahrenheit had some good ideas but the last third of the game is still a failure of hilarious proportions. If you take big risks, you risk failing epically. I don't really want to complain about Dreamfall, it's not TLJ, but it's not some horrible abomination either.
  4. Or a broke grad student. They are lost in more way than one
  5. Fantasy horror sounds super lame, can't you just call it horror?
  6. People actually agreeing with me? I must be doing something wrong! Because it was much better than most of the shooters out there including and was underrated in my opinion. It's pretty much Doom 3 with a few gimmicks like the spirit world and scripted portals that would have been cool if they weren't so scripted. It does absolutely nothing to differentiate itself from the billion other corridor shooters where you fight endless hoards of aliens.
  7. ...is a pretty fun base jumping game. Basically you jump off buildings and try not to die while doing crazy stuff. Try the demo
  8. *throws a box of TNT off the roof* NSF soldier: "Must have been the wind".
  9. Obviously anyone who's a BG fan but doesn't have a decent computer is a lost cause, for they have abandoned their roots and sold their souls to the console overlords.
  10. Jokes and weird sexist comments(SMH Boo) aside, it would be nice to get some female perspective on this.
  11. I don't even know who this Omar is, but it sounds intriguing. Maybe AP should have "romances" with the various guns? Mike could give them names and get really attached to them. It would please both the gun nuts and the Biowarians.
  12. That can't be. I haven't spotted any romance threads yet... This is but a scout, soon they'll be here in full force equipped with romance threads and more complaints.
  13. So now the Bio forum people are coming here to complain now? It's weird that I never had a problem when forced to play either of the sexes. I don't think Deus Ex or NOLF would have been better if you could choose the sex of the protagonist.
  14. Mass Effect created enough buzz to make Bioware a relevant RPG developer in the eyes of the mainstream gamers. I'd be surprised if AP sold over 1 million any time soon.
  15. It's more about magic being powerful, rare and having dire consequences(low fantasy) versus it being mundane and relatively consequence-free(high fantasy).
  16. The Wheel of Time? Knowing Tornquist, it's all going to end with a horrible cliffhanger anyway. That's even worse
  17. Hurlshot, you're not helping. We don't need another full-scale FO3 riot
  18. Kids are mean? I'm certainly not surprised.
  19. If it had been an Art Deco underwater city simulation, it would have delivered on the premise, unfortunately it was also supposed to be a game and a spiritual successor to SS2 no less. As ugly as some of the splicer models looked thanks to Unreal Engine 2.5, I don't have any complaints about the audio or the visuals, but those were not the "promises" that Bioshock was supposed to deliver on.
  20. I have expressed my dislike for Bioshock on multiple occasions and even explained it at one point in a conversation with cronicler some time ago. The setting and the audiovisual style are what gave Bioshock all the potential in the world to be the next best FPRPG and keep the spirit of SS2 alive. Instead they blatantly copied everything from the hacking and cyber mods all the way up to the damn plot twist from SS2, removed huge parts of what made SS2 the great experience that it is(such as the lack of resources, consequences for dying) and added the Big Daddy-Little Sister thing which, while an interesting idea, wore thing after the third one you kill. Basically instead of actually improving the old game, they removed what made it great, copied everything else and added a shiny new coat of paint.
  21. Lucasarts sacked the last of their in-house development after The Force Unleashed. Re-releasing old stuff is better than taking it to the grave with them, but don't think that they're doing it out of the kindness of their heart.
  22. What doesn't TVtropes have an article for? It's not very comprehensive, but it should give everyone a nice head start on finding low-fantasy games.
  23. I agree. But speakinf of Crytek, Far Cry 1 was more of a classic than Crysis will ever hope to be. Far Cry 1 had a pretty big impact with its environment graphics as well as its big horizon and jungle creeping gameplay. It also had Trigens, of course. Which deals it a serious blow. I agree, it was super special awesome until the damn Trigen showed up.
  24. I'd rather play Fallout 3, at least they didn't copy the last games down to the damn plot twist. As I have said before Bioshock is a game of limitless potential that failed to deliver on any of it.
  25. I'm not really seeing Crysis being a classic. It's a mediocre game with pretty graphics, you might just as well nominate Farcry 2, at least they tried some new stuff.
