  1. Also it had the really awesome small dot crosshair, I wonder why other games didn't use that later on?
  2. my favorite activity in Fallout 2 was looking for VS encounters and then picking up all the awesome loot.
  3. Requiem: Avenging Angel had bullet time earlier (and I think even that game wasn't the first to have it), but apparently it wasn't bulletty or time-y enough to be noticed. Maybe you need to have shoot dodge as well for it to count?
  4. IT IS. I've only played the first three chapters, but they improved about EVERYTHING. The gameplay is already more varied, tactical and fun than Max Payne could ever hope to be. The graphics, and sound are really nice even today (while I had to use a patch to even HEAR sound in Max Payne ). Writing and attention to detail seem to be improved too : When you're in a situation like me you can only think in metaphors. Playing with Mona was pretty fun. Bullet time is as lame & game breaking as VATS. You pretty much need bullet time to complete the game, it is an essential part of the gameplay. Also it was the first game to use the bullet time time mechanic AFAIK, so it was cool and fresh when it came out.
  5. I certainly didn't go to Megaton first, I just wondered around and got mauled by a radbear. Maybe that's what happened to him?

The prices are the same, but in dollars
  7. The reviewers are reviewing the game for the average gamer, not the hardcore, so one would expect them to judge the game based on that.
  8. Just get the Expert Breather perk and you're set.

Yeeees, the conversion is working slowly but surely. Soon everyone will be converted. Steam was never good for picking stuff up at release, it's all about the crazy sales and indie stuff.
  10. They talked about this a while back on the Skeptic's Guide To the Universe. Utter crap.
  11. Oh right, I didn't actually remember that. Anyway, good luck with the second one, it's really awesome.

Read A Colder War, a short story by Charles Stross that is an alternate history piece taking place after Lovecraft's At the Mountain's of Madness. Interesting stuff, but pretty depressing...
  13. Oh, right. Too bad we don't have the archives from those days.
  14. How long did it take you to figure out what to do in the final boss battle? I remember being stumped there for a while The important thing to remember with Max Payne 2 is that the whole story is told as a flashback. Might help you make a bit more sense out of it.
  15. Why did we all come here if Interplay boards were still working?

Finished Patrick Rothfuss' Name of the Wind. It's pretty good, too bad it's part one of a trilogy and the other two are yet to be released...
  17. Hmm, I never played RtCW for some reason...
  18. Yes, the internet is wonderfully horrible.
  19. That would be highly inappropriate, not to mention unhygienic. I remember why I joined, they closed the Black Isle Interplay boards...

Well, Mirror's Edge and Beyond Good And Evil are reasonably short, getting a controller is a good idea for BG&E, though.
  21. Will start? I'm sure you could find some right now...
  22. There was a 7-day free trial for WoW a while back... I tried it and didn't like it.
  23. At least you'll know that they story will suck right from the beginning.
