  1. I was talking about my personal preferences. I don't play games that I like over and over again. Just having a long checkbox list of features does not make a game any better by default. In fact, focusing on a limited list of features tends to make for a more coherent and better overall game experience. A hypothetical toolset that takes resources to develop and reaches 1/5 of the players at best is not a good investment for any publisher.
  2. Plus everyone would have a crazy accent.
  3. Like Lord of the Flies really just being Feargus Urquhart in disguise? Man, would that **** with my head. Would explain why he isn't banned yet...
  4. Oh wait this was about weed legalization? Yeah, alright cool, go for it. Awww man, she looks delicious..... Why would you use a "dat ass" picture in response to a boob picture? Does not compute.
  5. Why do you want to torture me with horrible CAD strips, kirottu?
  6. The argument that they should make a sequel to refine the gameplay is stupid. Going by that logic every game should have as many sequels as possible and eventually reach perfection. They can use what learned with AP and use it on another, hopefully more creative game, no reason it should be a new AP.
  7. Look into some indie games, plenty of creativity to go around.
  8. So it would be a modern Africa simulator?
  9. Usually when you sign a contract with a publisher you give them the rights to the IP, just how it is in the biz. Unless you're an especially big name developer, like Bungie.
  10. Also, if everyone would do it, it wouldn't really matter that much anymore.
  11. Re: Flash in the pan Steam/Gamer's Gate/Good Old Games/retail sales, bargain bin, etc? Generally I only play a game once, this has nothing to do with the quality of the game. Re: Toolsets While the polish level of a game and the presence of a toolset are not connected, it is obvious that releasing a toolset requires extra time/manpower/money that is better spent on marketing, for example. Especially for multiplatform games where only the PC version would have the toolset anyway.
  12. The better question is, how many of you would post here under your real name?
  13. There is the whole problem of 95% of mods being total crap and having to dumpster dive to find the few decent ones. It's nice for multiplayer games, especially if you can do it server-side, but your average single player game today just isn't meant to be mod-friendly. Especially with the multi-platform deal.
  14. You can't just "rip-off" combat systems 1 for 1, if you don't have the talent you'll get an inferior rip-off. A better idea would be to not do real time combat if you're obviously not up for it. The simplest rule of all is to stick with what you're good at. I concur.
  15. It's not like anyone is forcing you to post on their boards. Their boards their rules. If by "Justin Bieber fiasco" you mean epic trolling and by "havoc" you mean hilarity, then I agree wholeheartedly.
  16. In other words, another flash in the pan, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, etc. etc. etc. A flash in the pan is perfectly fine with me, there are so many games per month these days(plus the ever-present backlog) that a nice flash in the pan is better than a lackluster fizz and the potential for smaller bangs later on. What kind of an argument is that? Lots of games with toolsets lack polish as well. The "toolsets" that the devs use are more often than not command line tools with pages upon pages of technical manuals. The kind of toolsets that get released with games require a lot of extra work to at least appear user friendly.
  17. Your words are strange and foreign to me, good sir. The gameplay could have used a LOT of tightening, though.
  18. May I inquire as to the specific nature or this alleged flaw?
  19. Hellgate: London ruined a PA London for me. You could set it in D
  20. Wow, I don't even disagree with most of this. I do wonder what the one major flaw was in your opinion, for me it was more of a combination of things. Also, it's QA, quality assurance, not Q&A
  21. When did Diablo get a huge modding community? I'd rather have a nice and polished game.
  22. Better not give it to any East-European developers then The logistics would be kind of problematic as well, you can't just make a few square kilometer map and stick all of Europe's bigger cities on it...
  23. Did it make the game any better?
  24. That would persumably require OpenGL-capable programmers. How hard is it to port code from DX to OGL?
  25. Well, there is this one guy smokes a cigar...
