C&VG: Sega rules out Alpha Protocol sequel
I played both only once, can I be the independent arbiter?

Dragon Age 2
Well my point applies both ways. Either make it all voice or all text, half-assing it is just lame.

Fallout Online
So what exactly do you mean by talking heads in a modern context? How exactly is D3 going to do it?

Obsidian would like to work on Chrono Trigger
I was speaking from personal preference. I don't think the main target audience for DS3 has heard about a 5 year old PC-only IP either. At least Anachronox has a cool weird name. With enough marketing, it doesn't really matter, though.

That would certainly be better than most of the IPs they've been working on recently.

Dragon Age 2
There's nothing stopping the developers from adding comments from the PC as well, that is not a failure of full VO, but a failure on the developers' part. Same for crappy DLC. That doesn't mean you can't dislike it, I was just asking for Worst's reasons for disliking it because he hadn't commented on that yet.

Activision wishes to abolish consoles, migrate entirely to PC
OMG I shall not care about something posted on TEH INTERNET? blasphemy!!! Well, you acted like I was forcing you to subscribe at gunpoint.

Dragon Age 2
I barely see them, or go to the KotOR 2 boards, so I wouldn't know.

Right, so anyway, I see potential. You are in no way obligated to run out and subscribe, or even care.

Dragon Age 2
Alpha Protocol has also attracted some pretty... unique people, but luckily they stay in the AP section most of the time.

God bless their little hearts. Bioware boards will always remain Bioware boards.

Activision wishes to abolish consoles, migrate entirely to PC
Did I say you have to be happy with it or even take any interest in it at all? I said it has potential. Being able to play super pretty games on netbooks, tablets, HDTVs without having to mess around with a console is a pretty good concept. And as for input lag, read this article Obviously the OnLive lag comes on top of that, but to put things into perspective games already have way more than 5ms input lag.

And it is much worse than i have thought ... average latency of ~180ms on 25Mbps Fibers??? Don't make me laugh... The other guy who was talking about it (on the Exploding Barrel podcast, I think) said he was able to play the new Prince of Persia just fine. Having 25Mb doesn't give you better latency, it just removes the potential cap that a slower connection might inflict. The signal still has to move through all the connecting servers and whatnot. Also, I think the OnLive guys said that having the server farms was not a problem, they have some dedicated thing going with help from nVidia or another big hardware company.

Dragon Age 2
Well.. the song/music was okay by itself. If you just listen to the soundtrack it's fairly decent. It was just fairly horrible within the game. Mostly because of the really bizarre expressions on everyones faces during that cinematic.... Looking at the scene again on youtube(yes, I'm that masochistic), it was mostly the randomness of it, the total disconnect of the animations and the music and of course the invisible orchestra that comes out of nowhere, cringe-tastic.

It's not that I don't like voiced protagonists, it's that : 1) I like variety in my RPGs, and not having a voiced protagonist gives you a lot more variety when it comes for the player to define its character, dialogue options etc. You don't have that kind of freedom with voiced dialogues. 2) Poor voice acted dialogues can RUIN a game for some. EngShepard is almost unbearable for me (the italian voice actor in Mass Effect was good, the one in ME2, not so much, judging by the demo). Michael Thorton sounds a bit.. emotionless, especially compared to the other characters in the game. It only gives you more dialogue options of the developer decides to put them in there. On the other hand having to do a voice script makes for a more focused and natural conversation, at least in theory(either way, more natural than getting answers from a dialog vending machine). While it might help you imagine your character sounding whatever you like, in reality your character sounds like a mute I agree that poor voice acting can ruin games, but I don't have any problems with femshep or Thornton and I stay as far away from dubbing as humanly possible.

Interesting, but it's still much better than what I thought when I first heard about it. The technology has potential.

I'm honored, but that doesn't get you off the hook for not liking voiced PCs. State your reasons.

Dragon Age 2
Looks like we have enough people to form a voiced protagonist defense force. That's good to know, because having a everything but the PC voice acted feels like an anachronism at this point.

Hell is Leliana singing nonstop with vuvuzelas in the background.

I'm fine with that as long as they don't sing.
