I have to say that GTA5 does look amazing and has some new features that look very entertaining like all the sports, hunting wildlife and bounty hunting. I sincerely hope they release on the PC because I'll be missing out if they don't
-
That does look good but that game is dead to me until they confirm a PC release date !!!

Sooooooo, Sky News has just reported that Snowden has agreed to asylum in Venezuela. Now I wonder how he will get there considering the fact that certain countries he wants to fly over will detain the plane?

You see that type of saving design would just annoy me, so I won't be purchasing Dark

Which one is bad? I liked FEA enough(played every English FE release and FE4 and FE6 through translated emulators) but thought it screwed the pooch when it came to balancing skills and enemy reinforcements. DARK is the bad one, yet I can't stop playing. Think I've played it for 4 hours. I've left the game on without touching it for another 6 hours. I can forgive the game not being an amazing product but I can't forgive the awful save system. Someone needs to take a bullet in their kneecap for that one. I have read bad things about Dark generally, what is the issue with the Save system in your opinion ?

But really, several countries such as Libya, maybe Morocco and a few more really feel like potential for developing strong economies. Libya has a pretty modern government and the highest HDI in Africa, and an international school system with good English education. I'm sure they deserve more attention than they have got. Good points, I see what you mean

Believe me, "former dictatorship transitioning towards democracy open to Western businesses and investment" is a magic concept. You'll be the ass-end of nowhere in one second, and the center of attention for global investors and outsourcing the other. Just like Burma. Sure but Burma has made concrete and definitive moves towards Democratic changes and they should be rewarded. Also investors and analysts generally don't say "investing in Muslim countries is risky" as there are Muslim countries like Malaysia and Indonesia that offer excellent investment choices but they do say "investing in certain Middle East countries is risky at the moment" and I agree with that sentiment considering the tumultuous events we are witnessing due to the Arab spring and the political uncertainty we are seeing. Its the same view we see around certain African countries and what global corporations are prepared to commit to help build there economies.

Nice post JFSOCC I will play PE on normal mode but if available I will tweak the game settings so that there aren't things like flashing map pointers. I want to explore to find quest objectives and I want the combat to be challenging so area of effect around spells to be relevant and no auto-resurrect. I doubt I'll ever play the game on the very hard modes?

Yeah I think the Pakistan government and military faces a most invidious task in trying to reconcile the various religious and political factions within the country. I can completely understand any frustration around trying to deal with some of these groups and there objectives.

I kinda doubt that. I am curious as to what those counter-argumnets would be. No problem, give me some reasons why the implementation of Romance\Sex in PE is impractical or can't be done?

That's an awesome little video

I agree with these expectations but I would also add PC based so that the game benefits from PC architecture Strategic and meaningful combat so that you need to consider your actions in battle and the consequences A new fantasy franchise that is well supported by fans financially so that the world can develop and we see sequels Around the point about combat this was one of the great things I enjoyed about the earlier IE games. You needed to realize if you got turned to stone you stayed that way until Stone to Flesh was cast and there was no auto-resurrection at the end of combat. This made the major battles something you had to think about and plan what spells you needed. The last point I also think is overlooked by many. I don't just want PE to be bought by a few hundred thousand fans, I want millions of people to support this new fantasy initiative by Obsidian. This means some features and compromise need to be included in the game design that appeals to the wider fan base . So things like optional Romance should be included as we know this is a good selling point and draws in people who become almost fanatical. These types of fans are a good thing for the longevity of the PE universe ( I know I am repeating the Romance card again but these and other features that may seem unpopular do make sense ) That's funny, good one

Okay that is impressive, its like they have taken the best mod's for the game and incorporated them into one. That's some good development skills Awesome. What !!! Normally I would say its not possible but is Drowsy actually being complementary about a game without being more negative? I never thought I would live to see this day. I now believe in the Tooth Fairy again as anything is possible

No reason to. It's just opinions. Yes opinions that influence our decisions so of course we like to hear a different one if you have one? At least people respect your view enough to want to hear it

It shouldn't be, but what is their motivation? It would seem pointless when they receieve so much money from the US. As far as I know they get nothing from their (indirect) operations in Afghanistan. Also, if we all know that at least large parts of Pakistan including the ISI are either ignoring or actively working against US interests, why does the "alliance" continue? And why was the US so slow to act on their Pakistani intelligence? The report made clear that the US had good evidence already in 2010 that OBL was inside that building. It all seems so idiotic. You'd almost think the US are actively trying to create future enemies. The political situation within Pakistan is opaque and complicated. As mentioned the are several factions and groups within the Pakistan government that have ideological support for Al-Qaeda. But we also know that Pakistan has been targeted many times within its own borders by Islamic extremists so its not a clear cut situation of Pakistan supporting Al-Qaeda. The USA continues to support Pakistan financially because there is a real threat that the country may become both financially and politically destabilized and into this vacuum a more anti-western and fundamentalist political group would come to power. What would make this even worse is that Pakistan is a nuclear power so imagine the likes of the Taliban running the country, this would be a very concerning and dangerous situation. The USA knows that certain people within the Pakistan security forces are aligned with Al-Qaeda and OBL and if they had made the fact they were about to do the raid official he would have been warned and quite possibly he could have escaped again. This was a risk they couldn't take and I agree with the surreptitious operation they followed. Under the circumstances it was the best option. The USA popularity in Pakistan can't get much lower anyway

I hope it doesn't. I hope it boils down to what works for the game obsidian is designing and not a "well the masses wanted this, so lets fling it at them". Because that approach never goes down well. Also since romance is a singular emotional outlet, I think its possible to create a narrative that just doesn't sustain it. As long as the NPCs are interesting and responsive in their relationship to the PC and the remainder of the party, I don't think there has to be a romance in the game. Romance is a spice, not what you're cooking (unless you're making a romance/dating sim) so its not necessary by any means. I agree its not necessary but then we could start excluding many things that aren't necessary, who would decide what's necessary? A very important objective to Obsidian would be the overall sales figures of PE. So logically they would want to make a game that appeals to the widest audience without compromising there core principles. So by excluding Romance\Sex just because a small but vociferous group of fans object to it makes no business sense. Of course PE will still sell well without Romance\Sex but by including it you will only increase the fan base. The success of Bioware games are testament to this formula

Generally speaking, when we discussed this before, the main points - and I feel they are fair - come down to: games aren't best designed to take into account complex human interactions ("Hi, I'm so glad to meet you, is that an Amulet of Mara?" *sexy wink*) romance/sex isn't practical in most situations ("Hey baby, after 2 days in the sewer of the Unholy Underground City of Pestilence, I'm feeling a bit randy. Fancy a roll in the hay?" "Sure!" *rips off clothes*) romance tends to curtail the viability of joinable NPCs (Romance dialogue translates to 30 pages of text. Non-Romance dialogue translates to a fortune cookie) I hear you but for every point around why the implementation of Romance\Sex is impractical I can give 2-3 counter arguments why its not, so the debate goes on. This should then boil down to what the majority of fans want. And since we know the majority of fans do want it then some form of Romance\Sex should be implemented in PE, so there is no issue Its more about people just accepting the reality of the situation

You see that's where we disagree to a certain degree. Unless someone is suffering from some sort of mental ailment I think we all know that your character in a RPG is just a pixel and software code creation of developers. We all know its not real. But that's not the point or the point of RPG. We identify and see ourselves as the characters in this epic journey and we do consider the choices we make as choices that have consequence in changing this virtual world that we immerse ourselves in for dozens of hours. We "role-play" for a number of reasons like escapism and excitement. But I never presume to tell people what there RP experience should be as this is completely subjective and personal. I fail to see anything weird around the effort or time someone puts into there game and how they choose to discuss or demonstrate this effort. For some people just the thought of adults spending time on a website discussing a game that isn't even released would be considered pointless and weird so we should be careful with our judgments

We must fight the plague. Cultist remember that saying " the reed that doesn't bend in the path of hurricane will break" Consider the movement to have Romance\Sex implemented in PE to be the hurricane and the anti-Romance members the reeds

Types of romances you liked Relatioship/Romance Thread I Relationship/Romance Thread II Relationship/Romance Thread III Relationship/Romance Thread IV Romance and Friendships Romances, Yay or Nay? The Romances If Romances are Included A Suggestion for the Romances you're considering (if any) Sex and Romance Poll Its a reoccurring topic. Funny thing is despite all these discussions and evidence that the majority of people want some form of Romance\Sex I still see some of the more regular members opposed to the concept
-
Correct Excellent topic and worthy of discussion. I am a big supporter of Romance\Sex and how they add to the realism of party interaction during your travels in a RPG . I have never really considered the idea of children in a RPG so I am keen to see what others think and then I'll give my opinion.

I just watched Lincoln and I thought it was very entertaining and historically revealing. I didn't realize all the political strategizing and effort that went into passing the Thirteenth Amendment. I always thought that since the Civil War was practically over this would have been easy but this movie highlights the challengers that Lincoln faced. I recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it and is interested in American history
