If you left out certain things, map markers for example, without changing anything else, the game would almost certainly be broken...because the designers assumed you would be using those "features" and didn't provide any other way of figuring out where your objective is without using them, (that's why, wut completely revising journal entries to provide more hints, you can't just plain disable map markers in the last two Elder Scrolls games - you'd have no idea what you were supposed to be doing just from what NPCs say alone, and the vanilla journal entries are just as useless, if not worse). Too hard? Yes, because the game wasn't designed (sensibly) for it...which is what his complaint is derived from, if I'm not mistaken. That's some good points Barti darling, that's some good points As you mentioned without some systemic changes to features like the Journal entries I think the game around questing would be unfairly difficult

Nice story "I figured I'd pick a NWN NPC and tell everyone they named that NPC after me just to get a laugh" that made me laugh as I can just imagine how upset people would have got I always thought your forum sobriquet was because of your love of dogs so its interesting to see the real history Bet you can't guess where my forum name comes from? -

Gromnir you understand that just because someone says something on the Internet it doesn't necessarily make it true. We have a responsibility to question the veracity of statements if we want more information around a particular comment. So its nothing personal, its just the Internet But saying all that there are several members who have corroborated your story so I believe it . Its a fascinating little history around the name Gromnir. I am particularly interested in the fact that Gaider would have been influenced or enjoyed your forum personality that he named a character after you, kudos to you There are a couple of forum members whose screen name made it into games. Gromnir was the most famous, but I can think of one in NWN and one in SoU. This was a big thing that caused a lot of flames I remember on either the BIS or Bioware boards, I forget which exactly. Maybe it was both. Ironically this whole incident is where my current screen name (that I use on 5 different forums no less) came from. Interesting, do you remember the names that made it onto NWN and SoU? Also what is the history and the incident around your name? -
Well that certainly won't hurt. For me personally, I couldn't get over the crappy controls, they felt so imprecise and sluggish. Yes it reminded me of Deathtrap Dungeon and the early Tomb Raider so I played it for about an hour and gave up. May come back to it though Deathtrap Dungeon and the sequel, Trial of the Champions, were 2 of my favourite books in the Fighting Fantasy series. They should remake the game because from what I understand the first one made for PC was an abysmal failure.

Whaa?? When did he do that? Only time I witnessed him break character was on the old Interplay boards circa 2003 when he called out Feargus for the downfall of Black Isle. I have had him respond "normally" on these forums once or twice since I have been active in the last 18 months or so. The one time was when I said " I wasn't clear on his point " and he explained -

His Obsidian forum persona is based on the half-Orc Gromnir, a character from Baldur's Gate 2 who would refer to himself in third person. this is incorrect. is there Anything you has been correct about in this thread? maybe we will review. no doubt there is some stuff you got right, but... HA! Good Fun! Isn't it the reverse? A character was named after you? I can't remember, I'm getting old and my memory isn't what it used to be. essentially, yes. Gaider made the tob character a half-orc 'cause most folks on the old bg2 boards assumed that the Gromnir persona were 'posed to be half-orc-- were kinda a joke. HA! Good Fun! Its not that I don't believe you Gromnir but I don't suppose you have any links that support what you are saying around where the Gromnir name comes from? -
I know about Amway, we also have them in South Africa. What is your primary issue with there business model?

I don't know Nonek but everything you have mentioned that doesn't exist in your version of Deus Ex exists in the latest version I am busy with, you don't think the game will be too hard if you leave out some of those things in a modern game like the latest Deus Ex? You also don't want to ignore practicality with misplaced nostalgia

Welcome, remember to always support discussions for the inclusion of Romance. This release of PoE won't have Romance but the promancer army is preparing and training for the verbal battles around Romance in the sequel to PoE where Obsidian takes the time to ask "how can we make PoE even better" -
dude...you seriously make laugh I see everyone disagrees with me so I'm prepared to concede the item wipe doesn't sound like a good idea. It also failed the much respected " Hurlshot Good Idea Barometer Test" so that only reinforces the bad concept

Yes, it is. Economy is how you utilize what you have, Sarex, and what you do with what you create. Production and R&D may be cheaper, but that doesn't translate into a real edge without a lot of other factors that prevent Russia from being a leading technological innovator. A very valid point, those are some of the economic challangers that face the South African economy. We don't innovate anything, nothing. And we waste loads of money. The auditor general found $3 billion of wasteful or unaccountable expenditure last year in the various government departments and municipalities. That's money that should be spent on investments in basically transforming the more previously disadvantaged rural communities

We live in an age where technology allows us to spy on anyone anytime, I don't see why it would be difficult to have one organization directed at major corporations. Technically there should be one but they thread as if stepping on a glass floor. I thought you didn't support big brother watching as its an erosion of our privacy? -
Heh, I feel exactly like that a lot! Last night I called my former business partners and thanked them profusely for their consideration and declined their invitation. I love this house, this spot in the woods on Cold Creek. Then I slept through the night for the first night this week. I think you made the right decision. You do love where you live and person can be defined in some ways by where he lives. We find a sense of contentment. And no amount of money can necessarily bring you that same feeling. So even a better new job but in a different city doesn't mean you will be automatically happier. I imagine Steph is happy ?

I don't know that anybody expected TESO to be bug free and now we have evidence why: Bethesda are hacks. This is a very interesting article and has serious future consequences if not addressed I have solution. You wipe every item and all currency from every player, you leave each player with a few basic items and 100 coin. This applies to every player, no exceptions. This may sound draconian as the obvious argument is " why should a player who hasn't exploited the system be punished ". But to be honest you can gain the items again. The reality is I don't know now how they are going to fix this imbalance. Its much harder to address then people may think And if they just leave it then it will start utterly destroying the game economy as time goes on, so rather do something now that may sounds drastic but will fix the problem And do this every time something like this happens? Because, trust me, this is the first, but it won't be the last time (and no, not because it's Zenimax, but because MMOs are complex software, even EVE has had it's fair share of similar issues and they take their in-game economy *very* seriously). If you can't detect it after it's happened you're stuck with it imho and you need to find a more creative way to deal with it. And Zenimax should probably do some serious auditing as to why such a game-breaking bug that was apparently *known* made it into production. Wouldn't be surprised if heads are gonna roll on this one (whether it's the right heads that will roll is another matter entirely). If they do go ahead and roll back *all* accounts (which I think would be a big mistake) they should at the very least compensate all players with a free extension of their subscription for their (Zenimax') ****up. If they follow my idea they need to fix the issue and then publically apologize to the players for the loss of items. A month or 2 free subscription may be offered due to the inconvenience. Some players may resign in protest but end of the day the issue would be resolved. I could live with that knowing the economy of the MMO was working properly

The next great war like any other will be resolved by the boots on the ground, like all the wars before it. I think you bought too much in to the American war propaganda or Discovery shows as they are called. You simply cannot win a war from the air. That has been shown time and time again in the 21st century wars conflicts. Also you presume too much about the capabilities of either Russia or the US, people here seem to think that the whole war capabilities of a country can be found out on the internet. That is either precious or stupid, I can't decide yet. Strange how did the West defeat Gaddafi? They used no boots on the ground and provided only air support.

I thought we already knew that lobbyists have influence on certain government decisions, also if you don't agree with the ideas of any political party you can just spoil your vote or not vote at all? I don't really see how the influence of big business on politics means a country can't say its not a Democracy ? -
Please confirm you aren't serious. I doubt he is joking
