The Iraq war was a disgrace, but sometimes we forget just how much
BruceVC replied to Humodour's topic in Way Off-Topic
It is if you don't take responsibility for managing your own government 3 years after the invading force pulled out. Maliki was advised what he needed to do, it wasn't complicated.... " integrate the Sunni minority into your new government ". But he failed to do this, can't blame the invading force for that. -

I agree, I can accept that there are some cases of historical bad planning by Western countries in some places in the world but I long for the day where people stop blaming "colonialism and Western intervention" for the state of there countries when in fact the main culprit for many dysfunctional countries is corruption and lack of good governance -
It's the most tragic thing. People are wasting human resources on doing exactly the same **** in video games industry, instead of concentrating on making my life better. Biggest waste of our time. Bester I know you have no issue with Pirating but what's your view around hackers and people that exploit some lax security like this CDPR incident?

Real-time first-person AI exploiter. Or maybe enemy circler...probably should add tile-based, as otherwise that would describe Dark Souls, as well (though supposedly Dark Souls 2 is better about this.) Regardless, one of many examples of why turn-based is the superior system. Yeah the definition gets confusing But you right, the game is really entertaining and that's all that matters

This weekend I got into Legends of Grimrock, and I'm really enjoying it. I am only on level 5 so its still early days. This is the first time I have played this type of RPG, what do you classify it as? 3D with tile based movement ? I never played games like M&M before, anyway it look me an hour or two to get into it as the gameplay is obviously very different to other RPG like NWN, Gothic or DA But now I am loving it, I enjoy the tactical aspect to combat and how you use the grid movement to attack certain enemies in a strategic manner. Its funny but in the beginning of the game I was battling to find 2 keys, I went onto the Steam forums and saw several posts with people also battling to find these particular keys, The suggested help was that the one key was in this room where 3 skeletons come out of these alcoves. So I went back to this room and searched it thoroughly and still no key, I was about to stop playing the game because I thought "this is a bug and I'm not going to start again" but then I went back to the map and saw an area I hadn't explored. I subsequently went there and found the key. So the moral of the story is "don't always believe what people say on Steam"

I find the objective of ISIS almost completely fanciful, maybe they got inspired by the developments in Crimea but there is absolutely no way they will ever be allowed to create an independent state in the region. I wonder if there leaders actually believe they can do this or do you think these types of campaigns are more about fund raising and gaining new volunteers for there cause? Allowed by whom? The only people who can effectively stop them are the people in the way. Because the great British public just cannot be bothered. Well there is a long list of people who won't allow them to create an independent state in the region, these include Syria\Iran, Iraq\Iran and most Western countries correctly see the creation of an ISIS state as a destabilizing factor for the entire region -
I generally don't read anything he posts, but sometimes I take a cursory glace over his topics. But no influence whatsoever

Best Steam sale is always the first one. Btw. I still have a copy of KotOR2, Alan Wake, Portal and Deus Ex: GotY. Let me know if someone is interested in. (Only for regular forum members). Can I have KotOR2, I've never played those RPG before

Same here! I have no choice but to bite the bullet, go to sleep and read all about it tomorrow morning. I'm lucky in that regard, my first appointment is only at 10 am so I can leave home at 9 am. Do you think I should stay awake?

European Parliamentary Elections results, major concern?
BruceVC replied to BruceVC's topic in Way Off-Topic
Ah yes, independent rule would be horrible. Are you evil? The worst end result, and the most probable unless the EU is largely voluntarily dismantled by members via them leaving it is this: The EU continues as it is, becoming an ever increasing fascist socialist state run . Check your reality sensors, as usual, they're a bit off Bruce, but actually implying that independent rule would be 'an egregious mistake' is a new low for you (or high for you on the evil meter). Hi Vals Where have you been? I have missed your rhetoric. I really thought you had been arrested by the FBI for some iniquitous and treasonous plot against the government. Good to have you posting again -
I love your trips, I always find them so informative and I get a vicarious enjoyment from your photos. Where exactly will you be going this year?

http://kotaku.com/one-brave-reporter-went-inside-americas-first-video-gam-1593430390 So folks in the USA the first gaming rehab centre has been opened. Any of our American members feel the need to maybe book in for short spell of rest and recuperation? Keyrock...Shady....Barti....anyone else want to tell us something, they say its best to share a burden a life

I always knew you two kids would get hitched. You're a lucky man Ace. WE DEMAND WEDDING PICS! And I would have won the Miss America but I screwed up the Q&A. Oh lol! That's hilarious! I'm almost embarrassed for her. Yeah well there is a wedding pic floating around somewhere, heck if I know where it got to now. Yeah I feel for sorry and embarrassed for her, I know my next point may sound extreme but there should be some sort of screening process for ladies that compete at pageantries at this level. Just so the girls don't humiliate themselves. Nowadays I know these beauty competitions are about beauty and brain and I think that's important. Surely her parents would be aware of her lack of general knowledge and politely and diplomatically explained that it may not be in her best interest to partake?

Redbull has been quite long time in esports which is probably lead that their general interest towards games has grown. I thinks its great how the influence of gaming has spread to websites like Red Bull that 5 years ago would never have considered posting gaming reviews, it bodes well for the future. Gaming is no longer the domain of "geeks "

Not really, this isn't question of them placating there detractors through lip service. They will either offer female characters or they won't. And only the former will be acceptable for the issue at hand. So its not lip service but a design change Ubisoft needs to make

I was more curious about what "wait for a few hours" would accomplish. I already know Im choosing that option. I was thinking that picturesque setting would be the perfect place to have a dialogue option similar to "Spend time courting attractive female party member".....but then I realized that there is no Romance in PoE and despite promising myself I wouldn't get sad again I did

Fair enough, it was probably nerves. Because I do agree for a technical position basic arithmetic needs to be important

Part of the issue with the old Eclipse engine is that there was no real concept of level streaming (some aspects could be prefetched and streamed in as whatnot), meaning that for the most part every entity in the level needed to be loaded into memory and that places a pretty large burden (especially on the older consoles) in terms of load times and so forth. I can't speak much to the overall length of the game (I'd expect that Mike's estimate includes some degree of additional buffer for exploring, given that aspects of exploration feed into the critical path - and that it's also a best guess "average" among the entire gamer base rather than an absolute hardline minimum amount of time required). I can say that the amount of traversable space is higher than DAO because of the Frostbite engine. Granted, many (most?) people will probably be taking a "straight line" approach and won't traverse every single square foot, but the levels are pretty big. Mounts aren't going to be a particularly huge part of the game. They can be a rabbit hole (they've been explored for virtually all of the games) and exist more for a degree of fantasy fulfillment and a way to quickly travel. Don't expect things like mounted combat and stuff like that. There are some small snippets of the Tactical Camera/Pause and Play system in various E3 videos. It likely won't look too different on the different platforms, but yes it will be available on all platforms. The only place I might see differences is in how high/low the camera can go on older consoles, although this would be scene specific (i.e. would happen on places that are a perfect storm of potential performance issues) and while paused performance thresholds can be higher so it may not be an issue. The system involves the usual "give orders" though it doesn't have a queue (wanted it, but opted to focus on getting the base implementation working. Could be expanded on in future games), although your character will move to targets for melee abilities. It differs from DA2 in that you can use an "engage" mode which has the time move forward, but keeps the camera detached from any particular party member. It has pretty decent range, though is tethered to the party (for level streaming reasons). Hi Alan "waves" Nice to have you posting again
