Journalism and sexism in the games industry
I thought the point about the word " feminism " been taken out the poll was answered ? It was taken out because it would have skewered the result, if you had the word "ISIS " in the poll surly they should receive more negativity ? But people who are active on the Internet vote on emotion and somehow "feminism " becomes the worst word ever. But that doesn't reflect the reality....just people who can influence the poll I'm not sure what else I didn't answer?

Journalism and sexism in the games industry
That Aurini guy is the most disgusting ****heel I ever listened to on youtube ("we should be absolutely furious with the n***ers... not the blacks, but the f***ing n***ers"; "whites have been working for the past several hundred years to eliminate slavery throughout the globe - and even when we bought the black slaves, we treated them extremely well"; "women in our culture have become the most decadent sluts since the fall of Rome" etc. etc.). The other guy I'm also unfamiliar with. He sounds like someone who should align himself with GG, his perspective will fit in very well there Bruce how about you go **** yourself and again: get out of this thread until you're interested in productive debate? Seriously, the last page or two brought up rather good and relevant points, such as the counter to your "we can't have people thinking feminism is bad" already being a sailed ship if it was infamous enough to win TIME's poll, or how censoring those results is literally implying feminism is more important than truth, not to mention such a tactic is something not unheard of from totalitarian regimes. But do you respond to that? No, you make some horrendously off-color remark likening all of us who support GG with some guy who's blatantly and disgustingly bigoted, both towards other races and sexes. Your remark just now - as far as I'm concerned - is right up there with that article calling gamers fascists. You know why I'm always preaching about productive debate? Because if you get two sides both stating their cases while both are capable of admitting when they're wrong, then you can do fantastic work to figure out who's right and who's wrong, as well as figure out the best course of action. But I've never seen that from you. I've seen some sad little man who is too simple-minded to realize that yes, a woman claiming to be an oppressed victim is also capable of being a bully, a liar and a fight instigator. And yet when there's an entire page filled with counter-points to highlight this, what do you do? You look over them and just make an incredibly insulting remark, likening your debate opposition to racists and sexists. As I've said, kindly get the **** out, cause it's clear you have no interest in productive debate, nor do you have anything to offer any productive discussion. No, no I'll continue to post in this thread, I do sometimes enjoy the debate And I was just joking with my comment, hence the You GG people are very sensitive and defensive, it seems you can't take a joke

The Official Romance Thread
Best post of the week, good and accurate analysis of the reality of how companies really operate Of course they not immutable. Ask anyone who works for large corporations, like me, and they will tell you how processes and strategies seem to almost change on a 2-3 month basis That's the nature of business, you adopt and change or you become redundant

Now where I have seen these sort of accusations before? They removed it from the poll? Cowards. I know, right? I'd call for freedom of speech and tell them to go F... themselves because I am not remoing any word. No its probably the right thing to do because it may create the wrong impression that feminism is a bad thing And these polls are really based on peoples emotional response, like saying EA was the worst company in the USA..even worse than cigarette companies, so the results don't always paint an accurate picture

Dragon Age: Inquisition
How exactly is he pushing a gay agenda, its not like you are confronted by homosexuality all over the game. Its only in Romance and one or two lines of dialogue that allude to it Don't be afraid of gay people Volo, they are just like you and me. They aren't big monsters who are now going to eat you just because there is some attention paid to them in Bioware games
- What are you playing now?
-
Dragon Age: Inquisition
You are missing something fundamental about the strategic business direction that Bioware has now taken and I can understand why you would miss this because you don't seem to follow SJ issues Gaider isn't pushing a homosexual agenda , he is simply including certain minority groups in some gameplay components that previously they wouldn't have been able to identify with I believe Bioware was the first mainstream development company to offer Romance outside of the normal heterosexual type and it was a watershed moment, I truly salute Bioware for taking this risk. 10 years ago this type of implementation may have backfired on them. Its a brave new world of inclusivity but I will say there are definitely extremist elements in the SJ movement. But I distance myself from them

Yes that image is considered racist in South Africa as its likened to the Blackface caricature, I don't agree with it but that's the sentiment amongst many people

Here you make an assumption about what kind of person would wear that clothing. In fairness, those examples are fairly petty, and, like I wrote, I'm too lazy to pour over 200 or so pages of this discussion to look for better, more meaningful examples and reading back through what came before it for proper context. More importantly, my comment was more aimed at SJWs in general and less at you specifically. I certainly didn't make that clear, which is my mistake, apologies for that. I found that funny, hence the snark and the joke, since putting words into people's mouths is the modus operandi of SJWs. To borrow one of anti-GGs terms (it's only fitting), SJWs have weaponized putting words into people's mouths and making assumptions about their intent. So I'm glad you have given me some concrete examples, its important that I respond I have already said I was wrong to suggest he shouldn't have cried in the interview, now we don't need to dwell on a mistake of judgement I made And that cowboy shirt, its definitely a gay themed shirt. I have gay friends and I go to gay clubs. The reason why we know this is not just a normal cowboy shirt is that the guys are buff and not wearing shirts. There is nothing wrong with the shirt but it is not something that most straight men would wear because it sends a certain image. If you disagree with me ask yourself one question ..." would you wear shirt like that " and if not, why wouldn't you wear it? So I go to my original point, what assumptions am I making ? I don't expect you to read all my posts in this thread but my view has been based on real events and has been consistent. Always, people thrive on it

What's on the idiot box... Part 3
Really? Well, I'm going to have to check that one out at least once. Over the last month, thanks to Netflix, I have become addicted to the CW's Supernatural. the 1st season was so-so then it picked up. Has it's ups and downs but I find it highly entertaining overall, and often funny. Also, the super-hot angel dude doesn't hurt. OMG !!! Where have you been???? You can't just pop back in and not explain the absence, good to have you back

I like how you expertly avoid giving anything resembling an answer to my question. Because you answer a question with a question. "Why is it morally good to judge the clothing on some people and not on others?" No, you aren't making sense. I agree with Alum You make a statement like that without explaining the context or giving an example. And then you get surprised when no one answers

Dude wears fap material at work in office. People tell him it's not appropriate for that office. Scumbags whine "censorship" and declare him a hero. Same people are now calling the women (scientists and non) that objected to the shirt "****" "bitches", inviting them to kill themselves and shut up. Sounds familiar enough? Oh right, why GG is involved? Because they made themselves involved. Oh, are you saying that i am calling the journalist who wrote that vicious article, who happened to be male, a bitch, to kill himself and to shut up? This is because we cannot have nice things. Imbecilles find anything they deem as "problematic" and do everything to do destroy and undermine the human spirit. THAT's the issue. "Fap material". Jesus ****ing Christ Ironically you are undermining Dr Taylor " human spirit" when you are suggesting that the apology from him wasn't his own idea and he was forced to make it by others You still haven't answered my original question. Why is it morally good to question his clothing but not others? Of course he was forced by other people to do it. How emotionally stunted can someone be not to realize that? I thought I did answer that question? Who said we can never question other peoples clothing, you need to be more specific and give me an example ? That's it. I have to follow Trueneutral's advice when you're being so disingenuous. We have nothing more to discuss. I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, I asked you to give me an example about where people are judging only his clothing and not others and you refuse to answer? Okay that's fine

And I'm sorry, but it probably has pretty little to do with "SJW pressure". I'm pretty sure if he was wearing a tacky T-shirt with pink unicorns instead of one with half-naked women, his superiors also would have had a serious discussion with him about what is appropriate to wear on occasions like this. Yes also if the pressure was from his work it would have been done in a much more professional and official way than the spontaneous way he did apologize during the interview You can see this was something that was obviously bothering and he wanted to say a few words about it
-
Journalism and sexism in the games industry
If you feel that harassement and pressure have no impact on a person psyche, then why get up in arms when a women gets harassed? According to you, people can't be pressured/bullied. I think it's you who are looking for a reason that would justify this redicolous "shirtgate" affair. And frankly that offends me. Now apologize. This thread is full of bizarre and unsubstantiated assumptions, no wonder GG lacks meaningful cohesion and results When did I ever say that harassment can't cause people to be bullied or pressured? When did I say that harassment can't be hurtful? My point again is that you cannot assume he apologized because he was pressured from nameless feminists and SJW, he apologized because he felt he had offended people. That's his words, not mine. And these people are not the nameless people on twitter who expressed the initial outrage but rather his work colleagues who he obviously respects Its not hard to understand

So lets be clear on this, you think its impossible that he felt he had offended women he works with and he wanted to set the record straight? You say this cannot be the case? Lets be clear indeed. He's not sexist for any reason you list. He was likely asked to issue an apology so men like you wouldn't get your panties in a twist. When did I ever say he was sexist? I believe I have said several times that I don't believe he meant to offend anyone. But that doesn't change the fact he did offend people You guys really need to stop putting words in peoples mouths and stop making assumptions around what people say Irony Level: Plaid Sure, where did I make assumptions about what people are saying? I have said I disagree that pressure from feminists and SJW made Dr Taylor apologize, this is exactly what you guys are saying is the reason he apologized I have said Dr Taylor made the apology because he felt he offended people, that's exactly what he said in the interview. Where am I making assumptions?

Ukraine discussion
Wow. Where to begin? What possible motive could Russia have for shooting down a civilian airline? To manically laugh as they strangle kittens and invite The West to finally get WWIII started? First of all you have quite readily shown your colours by making no distinction between the Separatists and Russia. Secondly, you obviously haven't heard of a little something called "Hanlon's Razor". I like Occams Razor as far as this tragedy is concerned, the plane was indeed shot down mistakenly by the separatists thinking it was a Ukrainian plane. And the military armament was supplied by Russia
