It's Obola and Zoraptor who said the police are too militarized, not me. And Obola cancelled transferring surplus military equipment to police, a local police department can only afford so much. Okay I see your point, I dont think the US Police are too militarized because that is a relevant term and its very subjective But this is a reality of US society, basically anyone in most states can get access to an automatic weapon....I dont think in this type of reality we can ever say " the Police are too militarized " because lets consider the current dynamics of Police murders You have many highly trained ex-military people in the US, some of them will be suffering from forms of PTSD and some of them will respond like the last two shootings where these guys actually think the police are trying to kill African Americans In Dallas one ex-marine was able to snipe 12 police officers....thats a serious amount of damage one person can cause So I dont think the Police can have too few resources But WOD, and I know this gets annoying, but better gun control would reduce these incidents

Its a distraction for the Republicans during there convention when they would rather be debating other issues with the media I feel sorry for Melania because she did across as sincere and I doubt she created most of that speech herself or that she personally knew she was plagiarizing Michelle's speech It is a media talking point but its not a big deal

Meshugger would you consider yourself an objective commentator on what society should deem as trivial ?

Not sure what a blog about painted 25mm miniatures entitled More Medieval Muslims and Halflings. etc. has to do with Turkish warships disappearing but I'm sure Oby sees some direct connection. Oby .....please dont ever leave these forums ....

May be if they had a little more of that military hardware that you and Obola say they shouldn't have, a few more would've survived in Dallas. Like what? Body armour may not have helped. And police already have access to rifles. Maybe they could have received tactical training or something but just seems unfortunate. I agree with Malc on this WOD what could you realistically ask for to make the police better equipped because I agree they should have excellent resources but I dont think they lacking in this field ?

You mean besides reviving Geralt, changing a few key characteristics for Triss (the most apparent one being her refusing to ever show her cleavage), seemingly completely ignoring original portrayal of Aen Elle (Avallac'h, Eredin - these elves), massively exaggerating Ithilinne's Prophecy ... ... CDP is reasonably faithful, but they're not particularly bothered by making significant changes to the lore if it suits them. Interesting post, I have no knowledge of any Witcher lore. I haven't read any of the books so I only know what the game tells me I want to read the books now

The FBI has little to do with BLM. You misunderstanding me. The thought that the FBI cant be trusted adds additional concern, distrust, anger , invective and other forms of angst to what some Americans are already grappling with like ...BLM So BLM and not trusting the FBI are two separate issues people could grapple with ...why add something to the general state of worry that isn't true And it isn't true that the FBI cant be trusted to protect the USA as best they can

If that were true they'd still be pushing hard against gay marriage. They seem to be mostly backing off on that front. The sooner they get off that hill the better they'll be. But you were the one who correctly pointed a while ago that no serious US politician will openly be against something like gay marriage, that political horse has thankfully left the barn ages ago So I wouldn't expect even the most hardcore Republican populist to raise gay marriage as a serious issue at the Republican Convention but why bring up again this whole " Clinton is a criminal and should be in jail " when we have just recently had the FBI findings and they found no reason to charge her...its a really strange and concerning form of pandering because it suggests, amongst other things, certain Republicans dont trust the FBI and there ability to act impartially ? The suggestion the FBI is corrupt and incompetent is really the last thing the USA needs to now debate, especially when its untrue, considering all the current social and political issues the psyche of the USA is grappling with like BLM, homegrown terrorism and police getting killed To still go on about something like this surly is just disingenuous and divisive ?

I am not crazy about the whole Cyberpunk genre but because its from CDPR I will play the game and support CDPR financially

I have been watching some of the highlights of Republican convention and I have noticed several Republican spokesman saying things like " Hilary Clinton needs to go to jail " , " Hilary Clinton is guilty " I am worried I am living in a parallel universe, in the world I believe I live in the FBI decided Hilary and her aides were careless but there is no case for criminal charges Why are some Republicans still going on about something where there is no evidence to support it and the FBI has fully investigated this? http://edition.cnn.com/2016/07/05/politics/fbi-director-doesnt-recommend-charges-against-hillary-clinton/index.html http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2016/07/05/james-comey-fbi-hillary-clinton/86702072/

So it turns out the guy was another war veteran.. like in the other shooting. I suppose, by the logic of many here- that this should put all veterans under scrutiny right? Don't you know, every person who joins the military is a Saint for Defending Our Country from the Evils of Non-America! They Can Do No Wrong and don't look at their homeless numbers please?!That's a concerning point, do many Veterans end up on the street? Unfortuantly so. It does seem a travesty of civil society that Veterans end up on the street....anyone ending up on the street is a terrible reality but for Veterans it seems worse

http://edition.cnn.com/videos/world/2016/07/18/pakistan-honor-killing-field.cnn Honor killings still happen in Pakistan where women are generally appallingly treated, this story upset me for some reason....more than these stories normally do I just think "how mentally dysfunctional and ignorant do you have to be to feel you have to kill your own sister "

There are lots of people in Turkey that seem to hope that Turkey can someday join in EU, which is why both EU and Turkey use membership negotiation as tool in other negotiations like for example in negotiations about refugee crisis. Current Turkish regime don't want join in EU but they know that they have easier time to keep people happy if people see that there is hope in future when regime changes. And lots of politician in EU wanted to keep open door for Turkey because they saw it way to build bridge in Middle East. So currently Turkey's membership negotiations are in freeze and they most likely will be in freeze at least until Erdogan leaves the office (because he clearly don't want Turkey to join in EU). But if Turkey introduces death penalty it means that Turkey's membership negotiations will end, and then if Turkey wants to negotiate about membership they need seek to start new process for membership negotiations which need to be accepted by all the EU members. and I see changes for such thing to be nearly non existent, it was already difficult in 1999 when there was will to expand EU and less members. Elerond has summarized my point nicely Turkey can join and should join the EU and the intention to join the EU is a real one But the EU needs to ensure Turkey implements the rules and social policies that the EU stands for, the EU absolutely cannot compromise on rules and standards for any new country that wants to join So the ball is in Turkeys court but we also cannot deny at the moment with all the political instability in the ME Turkey has become an important buffer between the EU and the ME ...so we wouldnt want Turkey suddenly joining the EU now but rather at a later stage

Shani for the first game Triss for all the sequels. Next game better have a new main character...preferably another white male. Shani for the first game, and never Triss. She sexually assaulted my Geralt in the first game after I decided to be faithful with Shani. Never forgive, never forget. The first game might as well not be canon. We can include many relevant SJ issues in the Witcher series but I still want Geralt as the main character We dont want to deviate from the books too much or the lore of the game world

Erdogan wants to go one step further and introduce the death penalty. Makes it a lot easier to get rid of all opposition to his plans for an all powerful executive presidency. He even built the palace where he plans to spend the rest of his days... Introduction of death penalty would mean that Turkey have decided to throw all their plans to join EU away. Not allowed to have death penalty if part of EU? Correct, its about the belief in human rights http://www.eeas.europa.eu/human_rights/adp/index_en.htm And Elerond is right, if Erdogan starts executing people he can forget joining the EU. The Germans have warned him about this

Guys Turkey is not a good example of a functional and healthy Democracy Yes they do follow certain Democratic rules but they have a strategic purpose in the region that is of greater consequence than " does Erdogan believe and implement all the principles of a Democracy " So it surprises me when people compare the purge ongoing in Turkey at the moment as "an example of the failure of a Democracy " These are two separate social and political realities and should not be seen as similar

Damn my character made the mistake of thinking he could have a relationship and threesome with Yen and Triss.....it ended in disaster and being chained to a bed at the Kingfisher So I need to make a choice between who is my true love, Triss or Yen

Why are you entertaining Oby's posts and assessments as factual or based on the reality of any global conflict ? Are you that bored? Now don't you worry now. My attention for you will not diminish despite me reaching out to other people. My concern has always been about people believing misinformation about the West, the EU and the future of the lifestyles we are use to and cherish. And those lifestyles are based and grounded on Western ideology which just means things like Governments elected by the people and accountable to the people Effective governments that maintain institutions Governments that respect the rule of law and order Governments that respect human rights Economies that are driven and sustained by the free market These are part of the structures that basically all Western countries and Western societies adhere to and these systems work !!!! Thats why the citizens of Western countries have the best quality of life and in most cases also have the happiest citizens in the world

I see some residents of Baton Rouge are saying the violence against the Police is being perpetuated by people who have there own "BLM agenda " and come from outside the state I can believe this as this aligns to the whole " the movement of BLM does not stand for violence against Police " And yes of course some members of BLM do believe in violence but that doesn't represent what the whole movement actually stands for

Vals for me is one of the most exasperating posters I have ever met, he seems to truly operate in his own world of pseudo-intellectualism and constantly claims " other people on these forums have no idea what they say or there sources of information are obviously biased " when in fact he is constantly wrong or misinformed on a majority of topics And no I dont miss debating with him
