Ah the British. Please don't make us kick your asses a third time. Its a terrible thought, your niece working in the sex industry. The reality is much worse than you can possibly imagine WARNING : Guys I started writing this and I realized I have never written all this down. I had to complete this but this story is not a positive story. Dont read this if you want to have a laugh One of my nieces ended up in the sex industry. Her name was Nicole and she was my favorite by far, she was 10 years younger than me but we got on so well. She was intelligent and kind and sweet and always had time to chat to me for hours . She had these distinctive blue eyes and cared for things that no one else seemed to care about. She always reminded me her older uncle " one day us girls will be truly equal in society...you never known there may even be a female as the leader of the free world " ...and the reality was 12 years ago this was inconceivable and I never considered it possible She experimented with drugs at the normal age 16-18 but it was all innocent, then when she finished school and went to Pretoria to go to Varsity she had a new boyfriend who was 7 years older and a tattoo artist and a real lowlife. She fell for him and he got her into heroine...none of us knew but her life came apart. 8 months later I tried to get her to stop the heroine and leave her scum of a boyfriend who she claimed " really loved her " But the addiction of heroin is inhuman and I had never encountered or understood what I was suppose to do to help her, she dropped out of varsity and even stole from her very wealthy parents to support her habit. Her boyfriend became a drug dealer working for a particular Nigerian syndicate. Her family basically cut her off and everyone avoided her....her mother did say " I will pray for her safety " ....like that helped I have never forgiven her family for how they reacted , I suppose its hard to address this kind of failure I never turned my back on her and tried ineffectively to help her but heroine controls you and it takes everything that resembles your humanity. It wasn't a few months before the inevitable happened, her boyfriend convinced to work for Nigerians as a street hooker ....of course he got free drugs. Over the next 6 months I must have received 10-12 late night phone calls and it was always the same ritual and outcome I would drive into JHB, into the slums where the NIgerians and other criminals lived and find her on some dirty corner crying.. She use to come back to my house and always promised to go to rehad and how this "time she would stop " and after 1-2 days her withdraw symptoms would become too much and she would leave my place, it was always a different excuse " let me see him one more time ". It may seem like I could have forced her to stay but its not like that, the third time I did try force her and physically restrain and she burst into tears and told me " men must never use violence against women " ....she left my house as usual I didnt hear from her for about 6 weeks but I had a friendship with her friend another young heroine addict who had no one caring for her but somehow respected what I was trying to do and told me she was now working in a strip club owned by the Nigerians But this wasnt your normal strip club. this was in the apartments and had no official address. No white person would ever know this place existed. Only the Nigerians, there guests and the girls worked there. It was dark and desolate, this awful techo playing with the odd Nigerian in some corner and maybe 6-8 girls all addicts walking around high on smack and having to service multiple customers. Everyone was so sad yet no one had cared for her the last year, I was appalled by the hypocrisy and since then I dont go to funerals Thats the story, its not all bad because I made several changes to things going forward I have never forgotten that life of how some girls end up on heroin, most hookers dont do Heroin so dont think what I saw is the inevitable outcome for all hookers. I have helped several ladies through the years when relevant and I am always prepared to try to help. Some girls do really leave the sex industry but most women dont need people like me saving them I have learnt you can reason with most addicts on drugs like crystal, coke and even rocks but I walk away from heroin.
