Why you learning Russian?

I think that is definitely a real possibility and has some really unique advantages but it could be lonely unless you are fine travelling alone at times which many of us are. Also you wouldn't be a hobo at all ...thats a negative definition of what you would be doing on retirement. I would define it as " a traveler, unburdened by state borders and cumbersome definitions of what we call a home "...the whole of the USA could be your home ....think of all the amazing things you will witness that you have always wanted to see in the USA? And you could rent space in many caravan parks\national parks which could be exactly like a home, that you could return to if you feel like you need to reconnect with people , and you would meet other people who have similar views like you who prefer the open road lifestyle. Also if you have revenue stream, which you will have, you would have a great quality of life and using an RV you will save money generally ? There are people I have met who live this life and they very happy ..but what about the dogs ?

There are some examples of the Senate voting against what Trump wanted, like I mentioned Trump wanted to remove the sanctions imposed on Russia due to its illegal annexation of Crimea in Ukraine The Senate didnt agree to this and it shouldn't matter what year this occurred in because we are reflecting on his entire presidency. But yes it was in 2017 https://www.reuters.com/article/us-USA-trump-russia-sanctions-idUSKBN1AC1U8 There were good intentions around some of Trumps political strategies but the policy decisions were problematic. You have a real problem in the USA and other countries around illegal immigration so the concept of " The Wall " was about addressing this ....intention was good as illegal immigration cannot be just accepted in any country but the way the Trump presidency went about it was controversial and illegal in certain cases But I do agree that there was no pushback initially from Republicans but from about last week several Republicans did speak out against what Trump was doing by refusing to accept Bidens victory, like Romney https://www.towleroad.com/2020/11/ben-sasse-mitt-romney/

https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/11/coronavirus-vaccine-russia-says-its-vaccine-is-92percent-effective.html Russia is saying its vaccine is about 90 % effective, I am not convinced this is true but I hope it is There vaccine is also cheaper than Pizer but not Oxford. Any vaccine that helps stop the pandemic spread is good news for me irrespective where it comes from

Its hyperbole to suggest that the Trump presidency was nothing short of a civil war....there are many things Trump wasnt able to implement due to legal challengers and his own Republican party pushback. He was a disruptor and he also tried to implement policies that you personally may find problematic but there was a good intention to them or many US citizens supported. This is far from the idea of the seriousness of "Trump has broken the US" and yes the US has survived the risk of a Trump unintentional meltdown For example he was not able to remove the Russian sanctions and the Senate, Republican controlled , refused to entertain this. Also he tried very hard to dismiss the legitimate election results, straight away this is something that answers your question. It could have been much worse if Trump had succeeded in this and I can give you other examples if required

Yes, I hear you. I cant add anything else to your post. I am extremely disappointed with some of the views from countries like the USA, and media houses like FOX, from people who seem to dismiss the science ....its a good topic and one worth trying to understand and worthy of a detailed discussion to get peoples perspectives I plan to create a topic specifically around this but not at the moment as sometimes I need to take breaks from important but frustrating debates

Informative post but I definitely wont be supporting the " anti-vaxxers " because if you reject the proven science behind vaccinations, in the case of Corona, you are indirectly and directly not helping to address the virus spread and infection rate People throughout the world are dying from this virus and the most effective strategy to allow our lives to return to normal requires acceptance of the vaccine and initially continuing to follow "best virus prevention " like wearing masks and avoiding indoor crowded places like clubs and bars

Fair enough, one cannot argue that bad leadership in any example feeds down and inculcates a real outcome of bad decisions on the ground. I would say this is irrefutable and indubitable Sorry for repeating myself but I will add as my last point on this particular discussion is sometimes " bad apple " behavior is used to vilify the entire institution and its not fair or constructive in the long term

What Are You Playing Now: The meaning of life
BruceVC replied to Gorth's topic in Computer and Console
I enjoyed Vampyr, you should use a Controller as once you start understanding the combat mechanics the game grows on you Also I normally always play a good character and I would never go around drinking peoples blood, unless its by agreement, but you have to in Vampyr to progress and win certain battles ....I did enjoy that part of it and only felt a little guilty killing the occasional innocent -
https://www.mid-day.com/articles/donald-trump-virtually-concedes-defeat-agrees-to-joe-biden-transition/23106205 Great news, belated news but great news. Trump has finally accepted the Biden victory and will accept the transition period This is good for the world and the fight against the virus

Interesting post, I am not sure its fair or reasonable to allow the patent of any Corona vaccine globally to be made available? In the case of SA we dont have the resources and intuitions to create any vaccine so I am not sure what we expect I understand this is positioned as a case of " in interest of humanity " but there are over 200 vaccines trials ongoing and there will be many choices around different costing models available Also the global pharmaceutical companies have on several occasions explained that the initial vaccines will be made available on " zero percent profit ". Countries can and will negotiate competitive prices for the vaccines for there citizens Here is a good link that highlights how governments should and can negotiate vaccine prices https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/07/22/894184607/u-s-to-get-100-million-doses-of-pfizer-coronavirus-vaccine-in-1-95-billion-deal

He is a good guy, highly intelligent and cogent and I thoroughly enjoy his show as well as Don Lemon afterwards....I assume you realized he is the brother of the Governor of NY and there dad was a very famous Civil Rights lawyer ? Also he contacted the virus in the early days of the initial NY pandemic and I am glad he survived

I appreciate that link but I have the same issue with that type of reaction or perhaps " overreaction " if they had disbanded the entire KSK unit but in the example of Germany they disbanded a company not the entire unit as the link mentions To quote the article you posted In May 2020, police raided the home of one soldier in the 2nd company and found explosives and ammunition stashed underground. The KSK has around 300 soldiers and several hundred additional staff. Some soldiers will be transferred to other KSK companies, according to the ministry. MAD noted that 20 of the suspected right-wing extremism cases currently being processed were within the KSK. In relation to the number of personnel, this was five times the proportion in the rest of the Bundeswehr So in other words 20 soldiers which represent 4 % of the total number of KSK ( 300 soldiers plus the several hundred staff so 500 is probably less than the total number ) shouldn't be a reason to shut down an entire unit that has been around since 1996 I am not saying soldiers shouldn't be prosecuted if they guilty of war crimes or criminality but its not reasonable to think you can disband an entire unit unless its truly widespread ...and that isnt what happened in Germany but I am commenting on your broader point around an adequate response to this type of military conduct

Gorthfuscious I dont want to undermine the important point you raising about real and alleged war crimes committed by the Australia military in any military campaign but I always get concerned with most generalizations as they ostensibly can create unfair perceptions about the broader reality of a particular group, in this case its about the Oz public perception that exists about there own armies professionalism For example you mention 19 cases. I am sure you are aware that Australia has committed thousands of troops since 2001 to numerous military missions and in most cases the Australian forces have conducted themselves with honor and are not linked to war crimes and illegal killings All I am suggesting is we should always try to not use the the behavior of " bad apples " to malign an entire institution as if everyone is the same

I can understand that sentiment and it can easily appear that there are double standards which can create frustration as it appears " Western countries are not held to the same standards " But its much more nuanced and complex than that. For example if you look at the worlds autocratic leaders and countries, that include Russia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia , you will see there is valid global criticism towards certain policies their leaders have implemented but end of the day these are sovereign countries and they play an important role in current geopolitical realties and it doesn't make sense to try to remove these leaders even if other countries had the appetite to do this which understandably they dont But Trump is not in the same league as these other leaders because despite some of his attempts to undermine or bypass the US Constitution he is still accountable and restrained by the laws of the USA and legitimate legal challengers The difference is in these other countries these leaders influence or control there own domestic legal systems so within there own countries their is very little accountability So the " double standards " concern is really just about the cosmetic view we have of Trump as is he really the same as Putin or Erdogan? He isnt because he is not above the laws of the USA. We can see evidence of this throughout his presidency especially how he lost basically every single challenge around all this baseless corruption allegations in the 2020 US election I do believe Trump would love to be able to operate in a more autocratic way around certain US policies but the good news is he has been legally prevented from doing so by the independence of the US courts...and this is a good thing that exists in most first world Democrat countries

This morning during my early walk I saw something really heartwarming, there was a man walking with his 2 dogs and one of the dogs only had 3 legs but was absolutely happy and content as it hobbled along with its owner and other normal dog It reminded me how fortunate we are to be living in such a progressive and advanced time of amazing science where maybe 30 years ago if " mans best friend" had lost one of its legs I am sure the normal suggestion and approach would be to have the animal put down because people would have believed the dog couldnt have a normal and happy life But nowadays this doesnt mean that anymore...and what I witnessed this morning is an example of this

No we dont know that at all, many things can change globally under Biden as the US has such an impact around Geopolitics and the US foreign and domestic policies are directly influenced by the president. We have been through 4 years of the most disruptive era, due to US politics, in living memory of exactly the opposite of what you suggesting ...." things can change and they do " if the US president wants to change things Zora's cynicism doesn't surprise me at all but try not to believe it as its demonstrably and patently untrue

Once again I have to disagree with your views on certain topics. For example you dismiss " Internet Forums " as the domain of irrelevant old timers .....just for the record do you consider SM a better medium for the exchange of valid and informative information? But my main point is there are many types of Internet Forums and many of them discuss topics that are not subjective but based on facts and data and they very relevant and yes you need " old timers " to contribute if you want to educate and inform people because of what is known as institutional\work experience and life experience. Young people and people without this experience quite simply wouldn't be able to constructively contribute towards topics that require this. So I think your cynicism towards Internet Forums is based on the forums you clearly frequent and that has lead to you being misinformed about the real benefits anyone can gain from the Internet and mediums like forums -

Excellent post Gorthfuscious and these types of questions I always find pertinent when we reflect on certain societal questions like " why do people enjoy and participate in Internet forums and what is the most effective role social media should play in civil society " Anyway the answers to these types of questions matter in different ways and sometimes the work we do requires us to understand general " Internet behavior " for marketing, sales and ideological influence But going back to your question, why this forum? Several reasons for me that include I like the Moderation policy and think the moderators are very fair and encourage a culture of robust debate. I was use to being " banned " from most casual forums I use to frequent yet I have been active on this forum for more or less 10 years which is a record for me Due to limited available time in RL I decided several years ago to only participate in 1-2 non-work related Internet forums and this is one of them primarily due to relevant posts around certain topics that matter to me I enjoy the various anecdotal stories and posts that people share around real lived experiences and peoples personal views on many topics . Irrespective if I agree with them I do find many debates both interesting and entertaining. For example when you shared that link around the Oz banks it allowed me to understand ,from an Oz perspective, this global view around unfair, at times , " bank bashing " which cannot be ignored as public sentiment can drive political change which can lead to government overreach And then the general gaming feedback is excellent and informative. Its always interesting to get views on games and get peoples opinions on gaming mechanics and the reviews of games -
This is a reality many of us grapple with and need to be cognizant of, its also one of the many advantages of living in the 21st century but also can be a problem. And that is a world where we are generally surrounded by numerous places to get takeaways and sometimes they cheaper, and mostly more convenient, than buying food from supermarkets and cooking. And its a real consideration around our diet which is a huge factor in our health The way I deal with this temptation is I try very hard to stick to my " gastronomic rules " which basically translates to where I dont get takeaways during the week but on the weekends I allow myself that luxury. I have to have these rules because I lack restraint to " not get takeaways " during the week if I was allowed

Yay for the weekend where I can cook my famous English Breakfast This time Im having eggs, bacon, toast , hashbrowns and fried banana

I dont want people to misunderstand me, I am not saying the CCP doesnt pose a threat to a Democratic world but its a different threat than what Russia presents and should be dealt with differently But your post really made me laugh and also highlights how sometimes countries like China misunderstand Western culture , why would you ever want to infiltrate a country like NZ and spy on them ? What would be the benefit....I can only imagine the Chinese feedback being being sent to Beijing by the local NZ " spymaster " Report 1 : November 23 2019 : " Very busy day in NZ, local farmer upset with how his neighbors sheep ran amok in the town square and upset his chickens ability to lay eggs at important framers market. Army deployed to address rogue sheep. Maximum restraint has been called for as sheep is an understandable beloved member of family "

I am having delicious, unctuous lamb chops..I fried them which is best for inside cooking I looooooove lamb....its just very expensive relative to beef and pork
