  1. I am joking because it has been raised before and I remember how volo and Malc responded
  2. Sorry I added something afterwards, the USA is one of the worlds top immigration destinations. People dont immigrate to countries where the quality of life is terrible...so it cant be so bad
  3. No ? Millions of people are desperate to immigrate to the USA....more than Canada so it cant be so bad ?
  4. I still dont understand why Canada hasnt become part of the USA....you guys are almost part of the USA and the USA has a proud history, outside some bad things like slavery, that I am sure Canadians would embrace anyway ? You lose nothing and gain so much and things like gun violence will be addressed so dont see that as a negative
  5. Gromnir have you ever been pulled over while driving by the Police and if so how were you treated ?
  6. No its not funny at all, this was just a case of a legitimate shooting so the Police wanted to set the record straight
  7. Yes, this was the link I posted earlier about people immediately protesting and making demands without waiting if the shooting was legitimate
  8. Oh sorry I thought you were joking when you said you didnt know him, Carlson is a very famous Fox News commentator and is well known for many controversial comments and often is involved in opinion journalism
  9. Yes some good news as unnecessary tension over a country like Ukraine is never helpful for a stable and prosperous world But I always support dialogue and compromise as the best way forward under most circumstances related to these types of geopolitical issues
  10. I do think sometimes Carlson raises debatable points but he was way out of line in this interview, he clearly only wanted to hear one thing which was basically " the verdict was unfair and Chauvin wasnt really at fault as he was just doing his job under difficult circumstances " which is not accurate at all And I agree, police understanding basic EMT training makes sense in all our countries
  11. I tend to agree but when people immediately take to the streets after any shooting, irrespective of the validity of the shooting, you often seen violence and looting So I have no issue with people peacefully protesting about any issue but this knee-jerk type of " immediate protesting " is often not peaceful and its not called out and condemned enough by liberals and very few people on the Democrat side seemed concerned This lack of consistency around how people publicly respond was one of the reasons we saw the rise of Trump and still gets raised both fairly and unfairly in commentary nowadays. And I am sure we all agree we dont want another Trump Australia doesnt seem to have this issue? I see this in USA, SA and the UK mostly
  12. https://news.yahoo.com/fact-check-makhia-bryant-holding-204126487.html I am still concerned with the standard response that often when an African American is killed by the police it automatically leads to people protesting and BLM activism and an assumption " the Police acted unlawfully and murdered someone " This story is an example of this overreaction and this incident occurred the same day as the verdict around George Floyd. Is this view that the police are always at fault not a real concern to other people ?
  13. Find some good "old school" Romance games
  14. Thats a good read, a little negative around war being inevitable as that is something I definitely dont believe due to mutually assured destruction by each side having nukes. As I keep saying Red China, the USSR, the USA, the EU and its allies like Australia didnt go to war officially in a traditional sense during the 45 years of the Cold War when they really disliked each other so its not going to happen now. And its a good thing Oz has chosen the USA over China, its always good to be on the winning side https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_assured_destruction But yes trade wars, state sponsored cyber-warfare , sanctions and new economic relationships is the best way forward to deal with episodes of recalcitrance and unwarranted aggression from the likes of China and Russia. And of course you always must be prepared to discuss and engage on issues and compromise on some geopolitical developments as we want all countries to be a productive and legitimate member of the global community
  15. This is a good post and I appreciate the fact you have done research and you aware of the economic precedent like the sales of commodities to China as its a easy market to sell to due to demand. We do the same in SA The last paragraph would be my suggestion and it can happen. It just requires both private sector support and political will. But end of the day the less dependent Australia is on the economic relationship with China the better for making political decisions that are in the best interests of Australian citizens and not being impacted by Chinese anger and possible Chinese trade embargos
  16. Gorthfuscious since you live in Oz and have raised both real and perceived issues with the whole China\Australia geopolitical relationship what are you suggesting you would like to see going forward around this relationship In the link you posted its says " China is Australia's largest trading partner and before the pandemic, its biggest source of overseas university students " so for example one reasonable change would be to not make China your largest trading partner, you need to diversify your exports and import market But what is the general sentiment on the ground in Oz and what is your government doing both proactively and reasonably about its dependence on China around your economy?
  17. So you suggesting if their are 5 corrupt cops in a station of 30 cops you must shut down the whole station and fire everyone or defund everyone. That makes no sense ?
  18. Lambs chops with mash potato, man I love Lamb. I fry these chops on very high heat for maybe 2 minutes on each side and make sure the fat is crispy Oh I also add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce to the chops at the end I just wish Lamb wasnt so expensive
  19. I am at that exciting phase of gaming where I decide " what next to play " ? I am vacillating between Morrowind, ELEX or Arx Fatalis with some Mods of course ...such choices, such choices
  20. Well their does seem to be a general sense of surprise that he was found guilty on all 3 charges. Many people were unsure if he would be found guilty at all from what I saw on CNN
  21. Wow the George Floyd verdict is in...very exciting, I think he will be found guilty of the second charge, I think it was third degree manslaughter, 25 years he should get ?
  22. https://news.yahoo.com/table-mountain-fire-residents-evacuated-112654316.html I have had the most torrid few days since Sunday when arsonists set fire to bush in Table Mountain and started a massive and sweeping fire , I didnt sleep on Sunday night as I was helping transport family friends from the UCT, University of Cape Town, to my sisters place as the university was evacuated due to the fire and the damage it caused Where I live is near Table Mountain but my flat wasn't threatened but their was this constant smell of burning bush for the last 48 hours. Anyway the fires have been mostly contained and thankfully no one was killed but the main library at UCT was burned to the ground and much of the books and irreplaceable study material has been destroyed
  23. Its a good question and one I can provide some answers. Many companies and investment firms have studied this reality to understand why southern Africa is one of the only regions where people living in extreme poverty has not dropped and in some cases its has increased Its also not a racist question and should be discussed and understood to assist the economic growth of the region The good news is I already studied several reports and confirmed actual issues in certain countries that have lead to the different degrees of economic failure, these can be fixed but it would require the actual AU and the residents to work together I am just going to summarize key contributions, I can provide more links if required their are several failed country's that have not been fixed so poverty continues their has been no attempt to find the official regulations and laws for what constitutes a proper run country so we see real breakdowns in some regions The AU is just a talk shop so their is no economic measures that can be applied to help African countries so we are on our own
