  1. I am quite ok with Steam, at least they sell all games, but closed platform like Oriign is no go for me

They're all equal to me, it's an hassle that I don't want to put up with, because it will end up annoying you. I would not have minded them if they were just vendors, but since they actually control your games and patches I don't want anything to do with them. I'd rather stop gaming.

I do completely agree that Origin is worse for that reason, closed off platforms are even worse.

  2. Thank you very much :)

Well, internet medicine is kind of unreliable at best - I couldn't send you to a lab even if I had the authority, and with no way to conduct a physical examination, I have no way of knowing a lot of really important information. So you are welcome to pester me with PMs at any time, really, 'cause there's about 99% chance that the most solid advice I can give would boil down to "go see your doctor"

Aww, what a shame, would save oneself the troubles of walking to the doctors office afterall. Doctors are frickin' scary, man! They send me to the hospital every damn time I see them! :p

The condition of my finger has improved greatly, oh the wonders of healing.

Glad to hear it, from your relatively easygoing attitude towards it, I assume it was'nt your triggerfinger? ;D

  3. If I were you, I'd get to a doctor *now*.

In a not-totally-unrelated topic, I've earned myself a B on the physiology final exam today! (It's kind of a big thing, probably the most important subject in the pre-clinical module and a rather big number of people tend to fail despite their best efforts.)

    Congratulations!

Tell me, just about when is the time to start pestering you with PM's about different symptoms that befalls oneself? :D

  4. Back when I played soccer in high school, I used to hate the long distance running. It was sooooooo boring. Loved being on the field, even if we were running wind sprints between goals. Short and had a point and was engaging. But when we hit roadwork for long distance running my mind hit a barrier; it turned off and so did my ability to run consistantly.

Exactly, even if there is a physical gain in it, I don't feel engaged!

  5. ^most meddlesome middlemen, huh ?! the idea that customers pay more for higher quality service isn't new e.g. postal service charges customers more to deliver time sensitive packages overnight than normal two/three days delivery, same goes for the internet the idea that business pay extra for guaranteed connectivity, QoS (security, support etc) is common practice.. even you pay for better speed\data packages.

Anyway, as before I see no problem what so ever with the new law, in fact IMO its a necessary and welcome step to ensure QoS, after all we passed the internet "porn phase", no ones pays for high bandwidth to watch HQ porn  today the same infrastructure delivers internet\tv\phone\etc to our homes and to many business and we expect a certain QoS. ( At least it would be here, but since this is really a USA think all I can say from previous discussion is that the problem is really with your lack of competition in the infrastructure\internet provider market )

I'm sure that you will have a problem when your ISP - that also happens to have a stake in a cable TV company - extorts money from Netflix/Youtube or you to provide more than 5kB/s of traffic to them on your 100Mbit line.

  6. Maybe ya'll been tryin' some bunk-ass counterfeit Earl Grey tea.  Ya'll need to try some Bigelow Earl Greay team.  Maybe it's just proximity, since Bigelow teas are made right here in the overpriced state of Connecticut, though all the packets are individually sealed, which leads me to believe that Bigelow Earl Grey teas are just higher quality.  Regardless, I've tried other brands, and none of them came even close.  Bigelow Earl Grey teas have a nice sharp bite that hits you hard then fades away clean, leaving you with the nice smooth, yet pronounced, black tea taste.

Amazing what you can stumble over on the internet. :D

  7. You may be tired at first, but regular exercise gives you back positive energy and greatly improves you positive energy storage. The job will be less straining, your live will improve by a great deal. Yeah, I sound like a health commercial on repeat, but I can't say it too often: it really works.

I used to do alot of exercise and training when I played hockey, for obvious reasons, but even several months into it, I never got that "positive" energy or "love the pain" feeling others spoke of. I only felt tired, bored and like I had wasted time. I need work or production from effort to feel good about it. Normal training sessions on the ice felt awesome though. *Shrug* Guess I'm peculiar in that way. :)

  8. I don't want to criticize you but hear my well-intentioned advice; unless you were walking in the mountains all day long with a seriously heavy backpack or pushing a lawnmower the size of a harvester your tendons should NOT EVER hurt. I suggest doing some weighted leg exercises and cycling to improve your joint and tendon strength. If you have troubles with your joints and tendons at a relatively young age it will turn into a serious problem quick once you get older.

What I did: nothing is better than cycling up mountains on a hot summer day. Also cycling is a great health indicator, if you can do some really hardcore mountain cycling in really hot weather you're certainly not having any illnesses or health issues.

I appreciate the concern actually, thank you. :)

It's probably a combination of walking a total of 40+km besides mowing the 1000 square metres of lawn and not doing anything straining for a long time. I'm more concerned if it does continue though.

Woke up from two hours or so of sleep, noticed that the mercury has already climbed over 25C inside. Wish I had ice ready and place a bowl of icewater infront of my tablefan.

  9. Mowing the lawn, plus walking around way to much yesterday has resulted in the tendons in my shins doing their damndest to kill me. Can't blame them though, I'd have done so to if I felt that way!

  10. Sorry but that was my last two keys

Course, nothing to be sorry for :)

Can't decide if I'm going to wait for our GM to start running the PnP campaign or if I should go for the games first though. Decisions, decisions...

  11. Headache for unknown reasons. I'm properly hydrated, I haven't been in the sun and there is enough oxygen in the environment I'm currently in.  My head feels like its giving birth to a huge fat baby.  Being in cerebral labor sucks.

"It's just your brain trying to comprehend it's own stupidity." ;D

  12. Edit: actually Azdeus, I concede your point. After doing some research, there do seem to be more Christians who actually literally believe in that earth was created in six days than I thought. Shocking.

It is, the most shocking part is how it's growing in popularity in places like Great Britain. First creationist I really spoke to was a brittish friend of mine that homeschooled his kids to make sure they were taught "properly".

But I think Hurlshot's point in the overall context of what Christians believe is also valid. For example if you google "Christians who believe the earth was created in 6 days" you will find links and websites of what I would consider are more fundamentalist views on this topic. But if you go to his church and ask the people who attend the  church " do you think the earth is only 6000 years old and  man lived alongside dinosaurs" I can guarantee you they will say no we don't believe that.

But they still have a  spiritual believe in the importance and relevance of Christianity, they just don't  take everything in the bible literally. Most of the Christians I know also have this perspective

For the record I am an agnostic but I also agree with what Hurlshot is saying

You'd be shocked to find out how popular their views are...

The ones we are speaking of, many of them are borderline fundamentalist, but they are also very deft at ignoring things that does'nt suit them. If you were to ask people in the "bible belt" of USA, you would get an honest yes to your question. They suffer from an institutionalized ignorance of the subject, a problem wich can't/could'nt be corrected since all classes with "evilution" in them has to contain what they call "critizism of evolution".

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teach_the_Controversy

A quick and dirty link for you.

Well, it depends what Christians you ask. What made me change my mind was reading about Young Earth Creationism and its popularity in the U.S. I'll admit that I didn't know much about that subject, since you don't come across it much where I live. Here such ideas certainly exist at the fringe, at the sort of communities where parents refuse to inoculate their children because everything is the will of God.

Edit: for the record, I'm an atheist, if that has any bearing on anything.

For what it's worth, I'm sorry I got you to go read through those links, some of them honestly make me depressed and furious. ;(

For the record, I'm an antitheist.

  13.

Evolution is fact and theory.  Are you talking about Intelligent Design?  I agree it has no place in a Science classroom.  But as a Social Science teacher, it makes for a fascinating philosophical debate.

Yeah, the I.D./Creationist proponents got those stickers put into science textbooks a while back, a widely distributed book aswell - hence the scarequotes around fringe. They can't be that rare to get things such as that through.

  14. Technically though, there are still Christians out there who do take the "God created the earth in six days and rested the 7th" literally. They exist on the fringe, certainly, in the direction of the sort of Christianity where people hide their television because they don't want the neighbours to know they have one. But they still do exist.

Those "fringe" elements that managed to get "Evolution is just a theory" into textbooks?

  15. It's not exclusive to women, either, sadly...that personality type is found on all sorts of people.

Quite true, but it's much more noticeable in cases like this I think.

Been shooting my muzzlelaoder at the shooting range. Shot my .54 Lyman great Plains rifle 1854 replica at 100 meters and I hit better than most of they guys with their modern centerfire rifles. Got palm sized groups at 100 meters.

The 54 also has tons of power, shoots a 450 grains .54 projectile at a muzzle velocity of 455 meters a second with a very satisfying deep boom.

The only problem is that I always feel sick and tired a couple of hours after extensive shooting of a muzzleloader, I think its the saltpeter residue in the air affecting my body.

I'd love to have that nausea, honestly. Because it'd mean I shot a muzzleloader. And that's badass!

You should try to hammer in nails with it. ;)
