Completely off-topic but has your nickname anything to do with Savatage?
-
Big reviews will probably be lukewarm or outright negative though, not to mention that for some people a score under 85% is already a negative itself. Also, negative comments are surfacing pretty much everywhere, so I'm wondering how polished is the game exactly.. hope it's better than Bloodlines from that point of view.

Top 100 Videogame Villains - IGN
WorstUsernameEver replied to Tel Aviv's topic in Computer and Console
Now that I think about it, Sarevok had a pretty similar motivation (becoming a god), but felt much more threatening and well-motivated to me, not to mention the great build-up we had straight from the cinematic that opens the game. -

To be honest, I don't think the devs went that far with making Kreia a liar.. there are some bits (like when she's training you) where is pretty clear that she's being honest with you and I think what made her interesting as a character was that she was a teacher to your character not the 'LULZ SITH LORD!' bits in the end. Granted, the restoration pack makes the ending better, but I still think the execution could have used some work (feels strange to see the so manipulative Kreia simply beat you and go to Malachor V instead of tricking you into going there or something). -

Meh, I don't think Irenicus is THAT good as a villain. To be honest I've quite a lot of difficulties in finding a credible WRPG villain.. Kreia was a good character, but she fell flat as a villain in the end, Irenicus has a great build-up but I never felt he was interesting enough as a villain , The Master, considering the structure of Fallout, feels a bit tacked-on at the end, and while the Enclave has a better build-up they feel a bit flat and uninteresting as villains (they fit nicely in the setting though) and I could go on... -
Obsidian's another unannounced title?
WorstUsernameEver replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
I'm already imagining all the fun we'll get when inevitably this project turns out to NOT be Obsidian's unannounced project. -
Wow, that's an high score indeed, something to compare it to (from Canard PC reviews obviously) ?
-
I don't think it'll mean the death for OEI (though it will hurt their reputation as you say). But mark my words, 5 years from now we'll start seeing the occasional retrospective articles on Alpha Protocol as with Bloodlines. Let's hope they're still alive 5 years from now, then.
-
True, but it's a good marketing ploy. I remember people complaining about the absence of collector's edition bonus items on Bethesda's blog and forums, and even on The Vault.
-
I have the feeling that this could be the Vampire : Bloodlines of Obsidian and I'd be quite happy if it wasn't for the fact that.. well.. Bloodlines meant death for Troika. Well, I doubt Obsidian will die for Alpha Protocol, considering first sales seems to be decent and they have Fallout : New Vegas in the work, but it could seriously cripple Obsidian, and destroy their possibilities for working on new IPs for a long time if it was really that flawed and unsuccessful.
-
His feelings about the game are fine, it's not like a reviewer can't dislike a game, especially if he explains why, but going by the comments on this forum, it simply sounds like he's bad at it. Also, doing two reviews for two different sites sounds indeed strange, though I'm not an expert on this kind of things.
-
True, but at least he gave me a slim hope.
-
Wow. Obsidian manages to sneak a few Fallout references even in the pre-order bonuses? That's... both strange and cool at the same time. EDIT : I don't want to jump to conclusions, but judging by Jason Bergman's twitter it looks like they're recording voice overs in California. I hope I didn't misinterpret things. I really really really hope.

To be honest, seeing the reception Alpha Protocol is receiving compared to Fallout : New Vegas I'm wondering.. is it because New Vegas it's a sequel to Fallout 3 and Fallout 3 was awesome so Fallout New Vegas will be more awesome (for the mags, at least), is it because Bethesda is backing them up (they're drooling over Hunted too..) or is it simply because? I mean, I expected a mixed reaction, but I didn't expect this much negativity.. makes me wonder if Obsidian really made the right choices.
-
Unreliable or not these reviews WILL hurt the game and Obsidian pretty badly. And come on, with all the people that have played the game on the forum, isn't there anyone that can comment and say 'this is wrong' or 'I haven't encountered bugs so far'? You guys aren't doing a good job reassuring me.
-
I hope Fallout New Vegas doesn't use Fallout 3's voice actors. Except Kevin Michael Richardson (Sarevok, the dark brotherhood guy in Morrowind, the guy who wants you to blow up megaton in FO 3) He was goodness. Aehm.. KMR didn't work on Fallout 3.

I remember playing the first (or second?) Driven, and for some reason they billed it as a GTA-clone or something. Didn't look like that to me. Whatever, color me interested.

http://www.gladriel.com/reviewFull/content...rotocol-review/ Another review. To be honest, they complain about graphics, AI and hacking minigames, yet at the end they talk about glaring design flaws (wut? do they know what design means?). Also a lot of comparisons to Mass Effect, that I'd image has stealth going by that review. Score is 7.5.

How is the availability of tranquilizers compared to normal ammo?
-
It is possible. Granted, what I've seen were generally texture replacements and not much more, and the installing method wasn't nearly as smooth as other games' that are designed to be modded from the ground-up.
-
Considering it's the Unreal Engine we're talking about, I'd assume it'll be much harder to mod than other titles like Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights 2 or Fallout 3. Still, I've never watched the Mass Effect modding scene, so I don't know how extensive the modding can be, but it should be possible to at least do some texture replacement stuff. P.S. : Are you the same 4aces that did a couple of high-res textures for Fallout 3?
-
Definitely interesting. Personally, if I were a mod I'd open a thread for all this first impressions.. not that they're not nice to read, mind you, but we've had a couple of threads which basically amount to 'what I think of Alpha Protocol after X hours' and having all those opinion in one thread would probably make for a far easier read.

The usual game versions' mayhem
WorstUsernameEver replied to WorstUsernameEver's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I'm already seeing it on tomorrows' gamezines headlines : OBSIDIAN DEVELOPERS CONFIRMS XBOX360 VERSION OF ALPHA PROTOCOL IS BETTER. -
Yatzee is usually fun but rarely insightful. When is the last time any video game review was insightful? I found the Codex's Dragon Age review surprisingly insightful and fair. Granted, you were probably referring to mainstream reviews.
