Sat through 2012 last night.. usually I'm not big on disaster films.. but that was fairly decent. When everything starts going to crap.. it can look quite impressive, and its got some nice turns of acting going on..
-
Hm, strange, first time I played through I hit 50 and would have probably got higher if I hadn't had to finish the game to unlock past 50.
-
Caught Sherlock Holmes.. not a bad attempt. Downey Jr and Jude make a good Holmes and Watson. Guy Ritchie back to doing entertaining films. Hm, he did good films before he married.. he did crappy films during his marriage.. he's split from Madonna and now we have a decent movie.. do I sense a theory there...

I'm working my way through Assassin's Creed.. and I'm just being puzzled why so many people rave about it. If you at least got to have several methods on how to get close and kill the target it would be one thing.. but it's just so.. arcadey repetitive. So far I'm just punching through it to see what the "story" develops like rather then because of the actual game play...

If I pre-ordered through gamestop I'd then have to wait an extra two or so weeks for it to be shipped across the atlantic and then clear customs.. so Nah. I was going to pre-order via amazon as I usually do.. but I've decided to go with the CE (mostly because I want to flip through the "art of book" and such) and you can never get the CE's from amazon.. so I'm having to get it via Game.. so no extra goodness for pre-ordering for me..

Steam's there purely for the sales times.. when a few games that might catch your interest are being sold for less then the price of a cup of coffee.. Otherwise, you're better off doing a quick look on amazon and finding the classic games cheap.. and then having a physical item to go with your spent money

To me.. I'm a touch scared of the potential of any new D&D games.. to go with the license they'd need to be based around the new 4th Edition system.. and that's.. well. Bloody awful. To my eye, it's like they've made a pen and paper rpg using heavily simplified rules, adapted from the WoW game system... (if i was being purely cynical I'd say it's been done on purpose by WoTC in an effort to draw in the WoW gamers by making it "simple" and "easy" to get into.) So any computer game adapted from it will be a touch... off. At least to my mind..

If this wasn't a ME thread... I'm pretty sure I could make a snarky comment about all women being fickle.. but I still need my morning tea and aren't quite prepared enough to duck and cover..
-
You don't need to remake it. The original still kicks ass for what it is. That and when you hit the quit button, there's that plainitive voice reminiscent of Hal going "Please don't leave... the Drones need you.. they look up to you....."
-
Wasn't there some mention in one of the recent interviews that there's someone romancable who was in ME but wasn't romancable? Which is what a lot of people think Tali falls under.... Whether it was just a tease or a joke is another matter.. but it would fit the semi-unknown third..

You quoting Boo you.

I did see something where the actor who played Colonel Q said roughly that he was playing him as a "soldier with a good heart, who'd just been sent through too many bad wars and had his soul slowly destroyed." Which was part of the whole "I'm here to keep my guys alive and do the job. Frack everything/everyone else."

Man.. I'd forgotten just how damn addictive Alpha Centauri was. That "just another turn" that has you emerging from a stupor 6 hours down the line...

The Great Alpha Protocol release month pool!
Raithe replied to Pop's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Hmm... and I've just recieved the "update" from my amazon.uk pre-order that AP will be released 25th of June... whether they've got it right or not... -
Feeling like a stretch for an old classic over the weekend, trying to find out where I stashed my copy of Alpha Centauri to install...

Two-gun mojo is pure cinema... But it does look so good as shown many times in HK Action films..
-
Depending on what you're looking for.. how many traditional ales have you tried?
-
So.. avoiding the whole "which is rpg and which rpg is better" conversation before the almighty arch-mages get really into it... For the slightly random ME2 related aspect.. who's really being bothered about Bioware doing more Pre-Order bonus DLC items depending where you buy it from, and who's pondering on the Collector's Edition? Does anyone give a damn, is it just more gimmick, or just the "I was pre-ordering it anyway, so yay"?

Whenever the question of kill versus non-lethal takedowns crop up.. I keep getting flashbacks to NOLF..and the overheard conversations of the "evil minion thugs" talking about their family lives and what christmas presents they were getting for their kids...

Working in that Assassin's Creed.. Not really seeing why so many people were in love with it, but it's some competent. Although the really annoying point is the whole.. to quit to desktop you have to go through three quit menu's , log into the profile again, then another quit menu.. with multiple confirmations... Which is a bit tiresome

Ah the trouble with the BBC.. it does have a fair amount of political bias. It's just as governments come and go the bias can change. At the present time.. there are craploads of qwongocrats put in positions of executive control in the BBC due to old Tony Blairs policies.. This is a man who was very good at arranging for large segments of governance being put in the hands of non-elected officials in the background.. (Not that Conservatives are much of a great shake either but still, they never tried it when they were in power.)

Don't be dissin' me Garrus mate! The council is a funny bunch, you save their asses, they give you a position among them but apologizing? Nooooooooo. Gibbs Rule : "Never say you're sorry. It's a sign of weakness."
-
I'm not trying to sugges that the council aren't a little brain dead and aren't a little bigoted about the whole matter.. But just the flip side is, if you've got some decorated hero who raises his hand and says "I didn't do it." and some relative unknown who potentially has an axe to grind who says "he did it"... In absence of any real proof.. who are you going to believe more?
-
To be fair to the brain dead council members.. Look at it if you didn't know Saren was involved: Saren - has a legendary, heroic reputation for the last x many decades. Is the Spectre called when it's a "it must be done" situation. Bolshy humans turn up, first time they have a candidate try out for Spectre, Saren gives them a fail. A couple of years later... a second human is given a chance.. the Spectre overseeing it ends up dead, and those pesky humans are saying Saren did it.. with absolutely no proof beyond their "word". And so far they're kind of known as being a bit pushy... It would be kind of like some third-world country turning up to the USA and saying "hey, you know that dedicated soldier guy who's won the Medal of Honor more then once? He murdered someone. Oh. we don't have any proof. But we're telling you the truth guv'nor. Honest."
