  1. Heh, seriously, that abbreviation is the title. But it happens to stand for: "National Terrorism Strike Force - San Diego - Sports Utility Vehicle" Each episode is like a 15 minute crampacked pisstake of all the "thriller/procedurals" on tv, kind of mixing 24 with CSI, the Wire and various others. Then just being extremely silly with it.
  2. Warm sunny day. Just got back from helping mow the lawn over my grandmothers. She's definitely beginning to look a little frail.
  3. "I wish I could sleep. But my damn ADD kicks in and basically, one sheep, two sheep, cow, turtle, duck, Ol mcDonald had a farm....heeey Macarena!"
  4. Yup. Book 5 & 6 can take a turn for the slow because it's starts getting into that stage of laying more background plots/arcs and characters on the world stage rather then purely focused on the core group. Jordan died after completing book 11, Sanderson finished off the final 3 books, although Jordan had sketched out everything, including a serious mass of notes, sketches, assorted databases of all characters, goals, plots n plans. And Jordan's wife was the editor and recorded him talking through the final of the story. Oh, and Jordan also wrote the epilogue to the final book so Sanderson knew where he had to get to and how to get there.
  5. Heh. "After last weeks episode of Game of Thrones, maybe they should change its acronym from GoT to OMG!..." I managed to snag a couple of episodes of NTSF-SD-SUV. It's a little weird with some amusing bits. Although seeing Kate Mulgrew wearing an eye-patch and coming out with such lines as "I'm going out, getting drunk and getting my freak on!" or "the war will never be over as long as there are japanese people on american soil!" with Captain Janeway style hair flicks does make me chuckle.
  6. It's a Die Hard movie without a clear and engaging villian to have fun dialogue with. If Willis and the Villain can't be snarky at each other, or steal scenes with one liners.. It just won't work properly.
  7. A Feast of Crows was where I gave up on the series. I just found myself supremely uninterested in the survival of any of the characters.
  8. Now surprisingly, I didn't take this picture.. but dang I like it:
  9. On your point about translation. Is there maybe some non-lexical flow imparted by the shape of the Chinese script which you could only get from a skilled translator? Just a thought. It's one of the things I've wondered about. The structure of written chinese is one thing. But also to consider, a lot of those texts were originally produced before the written language was "codified" and "reformatted" as it were by the first Emperor. So how much that caused shifts in the original structure and language, before someone attempted to roll it into English.
  10. For a little geek story and humour.. via wil wheaton's blog.. To be soon followed by:
  11. Yeah, it's either drop a pot over it to cut off oxygen, or throw the damp towel across the top of it. I guess those primal reactions hit you first..
  12. Now that has me imagining Walls in a polyester superman suit swiftly being enveloped as a ball of fire as he runs along...
  13. Trying to get my sleep cycle back in check, which is always fun. Felt totally shattered crawling out of bed. Ah well, on with the day. Currently trying to sort out my mother's drug supplies for the next 7 days. And being interupted by the dogs repeatedly...
  14. Hm, So Eidos-Montreal have done a tweet and this https://vine.co/v/b3HdHDdj7zK.. So teasing over some future Deus Ex. Seems a wee bit late to be more dlc.. Whether it relates to the possible DE movie, or a follow-on "Prequel" game... Which, frankly with a subtitle of "The Fall" does make it sound more likely..
  15. I've said it before and I'll say it again, while grabbing a quick shower can be nice.. It will never beat the sheer, decadent luxury of sinking into a hot bathtub for an hour to lazily soak whilst reading a good book... Especially at the end of a day.
  16. Ran through a mission on XCOM EU, then got to shoot down the hidden overseer ship. Hm, that first Ethereal in a room with multiple heavy floaters, and a sectopod is a bit of a bastard. Need to sit down and get some decent game playing in. Haven't spent more then an odd half-hour here and there doing so lately.
  17. Wilson and Tom are pretty much loathesome on their own. Hm, for those who don't know the story yet I'll throw this behind a spoiler to be safe..
  18. It's always good to see biting sarcasm and 'hidden' bile come from the wit of a comedian... http://youtu.be/hxPRU5t_ajI
  19. Oh, and the BBC have announced that BBC News - Matt Smith is to leave Doctor Who at the end of the year...
  20. Hm, I have a few. I literally haven't uninstalled Alpha Protocol since it first came out. - Although I haven't had a run through in about half a year. Civ IV. Sid Meier's Alpha Cenaturi. VtM - Bloodlines. Deus Ex - That's one that gets reinstalled, played through, taken off, x months down the line, put back on, uninstalled, wash, rince, repeat ad infinitum.. Kotor I & II keep turning up on my machine for some reason.. ME series I do keep puttering with.. Tron 2.0. - Every now and then I just feel a need for that amusement. NOLF 2. Galactic Civilisations II. AvP2 - Although that tends to be when a couple of friends all get in the same mood together and that calls for an old fashioned return to student LAN parties.. I used to replay the Privateer and Wing Commander games in ridiculous amounts. But haven't played any of those in a few years now.
