Turned up for the Computing Forum that was today, which was meant to be a group of hte senior lecturers having a discussion with a bunch of students about what works on the Computing degrees, what doesn't work, what engages them, what goes wrong, etc.... Of course, for various reasons, I was the sole student there. So I got to spend an hour with the lecturers walking me through each of the units I do and talking about the good points and bad points of the course.

The early reviews for Tomb Raider aren't exactly saying great things... Looks like the general trend of game-to-movie adaptions is going strong.

And of course, if you write it the American way.. doesn't that mean he died on 3.14...

Watched the pilot episode of Deception. I mean sure, it's yet another crime procedural type of show, but it had a curious premise. A little jumped on the "Now You See Me" vibe. A guy who grew up with a magician for a father, a father who concealed he had twin sons so he could travel the world doing a "disapearing boy" trick, went into showbiz and become a world famous magician himself (still with no-one knowing he was actually twins). Only for a mysterious illusionist set up his brother to be revealed and take the fall for a murder he didn't commit. A year on, and the brother not under arrest insinuates himself with the FBI as a specialist consultant as part of the process in tracking down who framed his brother. And it has Vinnie Jones as the technical support guy for the Magician. So it was worth a watch just for those sidekick appearances.

Forgot about wearing a "Ring of Nixperience", which meant my anime boy band were gaining xp, but not tallying it up to gain levels in FFXV, so actually had about 490k XP. Took it off, slept the night at the high class resort, and gained 31 levels in one go.

That's them standard demographic questions at work for you. Although I apparently picked up a couple of bonus marks for including multiple options beyond "Male/Female" under the gender, and having "prefer not to say" under most of the rest. You go do an Applied Computing degree, and you end up having to pick up basic sociology questionnaire skills for your grades....

Okay, this one amused me somewhat: "When Republicans are asking for your votes in November, remember to tell them 'Now is not the time' and offer your thoughts and prayers."

Right, as some of you might have picked up, I've been buried in the return to university to finish off my interrupted degree, and am in the middle of conducting a research paper for my "final year". Since we're hitting an interesting point where we have a mix of people who have grown up with the Internet, and people who still remember life before the internet, I'm curious to see what patterns might emerge from looking at peoples awareness, attitudes, and general behaviours in regard to internet privacy and the question of owning your own data. So, as part of gathering in some primary source data, I'd like to invite members of this forum to take 5 minutes to quickly run through this survey for me that I whipped up on Google Forms: Survey
