Small things like a MOUSE makes me want to play the PC version instead.

Open GL 3 has finally been finalized! And it can do everything DirectX 10 can + more. There is NO REASON for Obsidian (and other game developers) to hold us hostage under Microsoft's monopoly! Source: http://www.osnews.com/story.php/18446/OpenGL-3-Announced/ Source: http://www.khronos.org/library/detail/sigg...f_presentation/ With a little luck, every game developer will embrace this and we'll all be able to switch to Ubuntu (or whatever Linux-package you prefer) instead of Windows. In my dreams. (Semi-related news: DirectX 10 do-able on Windows XP.)

Mass Effect hands-on impressions at E3
mkreku replied to Darth Drabek's topic in Computer and Console
The characters in Mass Effect look absolutely amazing! But yeah, the combat looks weak and the dialogue system could as easily be a failure as a complete success. We'll see. But it really is a rip-off of Star Wars/KotOR. Even the sounds are (almost) exactly the same. I'm beginning to think they recycled a few art designs.. -
Some people over at Eurogamer has downloaded the demo already. Some of them are saying that the DEMO itself is their GOTY! Sounds promising. PC-demo should come soon too. Release is only 11 days away though. Not too bad.

Don't forget to give us your first impressions when you've finally downloaded it.

Real Breaking News: Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer
mkreku replied to Sand's topic in Computer and Console
Nice! I thought that piece was lame. Hopefully it isn't final. Morgoth in "being dramatically negative" shocker. -
Congratulations for PAYING for the piece of crap that Live Gold is!

I've been playing the Tabula Rasa closed beta the last few days and I regret to inform you all that it sucks. Bigtime. The game is supposed to be a ground-breaking innovation in MMORPG that's "breaking the mould of MMORPG's". It isn't and it doesn't. First of all: the combat. You're a newly trained space marine, dragged into a full-scale war. You're dropped into the frontlines of a battle on some generic planet and you go through a very short and basic tutorial. When you're done, you're supposed to cross a small bridge and some aliens materialize in front of you. Since you have ranged weapons and ordinary FPS controls, and the combat plays out in real-time, you'll do what you always do: shoot and strafe to avoid their shots.. but it doesn't work. You can (probably) miss so strafing lessens your own chance of hitting, but you can never avoid any incoming fire. If you strafe to avoid a rocket, the rocket will inexplicably twist in mid-air and hit you anyhow. The game is said to be about player skills, but it really isn't. You can never strafe to avoid anything since the game decides if you've been hit or not. Same with aiming yourself: even if you hit dead on, the game might still decide that you've missed. Unbelievably bad system. Second: quests. If you enjoy doing really unmotivated fed-ex quests then Tabula Rasa is for you. Out of the first 20 quests I did, 10-15 were pure fed-ex. "Bring me 8 DNA samples", "Bring me 5 boar tusks", "Bring me 58 space pig penises" and so on. The rest of the quest were "Something is wrong in camp A, you'd better report there. It's serious". Then when you got to camp A after getting lost in the generic looking graphics of the gameworld, they'd be like "Oh, this is serious. You'd better report back immediately". No twist, no combat, no nothing. Horrible. Third: the equipment. Never in my life have I seen such uninspired equipment in a game! You start out with some no-name pistol and/or rifle. Not so bad. Then you notice your armour: generic armour piece v.1. "v.1?" you think and continue playing. Then, on the body of one of the space pigs which you've just shot in the head 15 times straight on (to which the game has responded "you hit five times!!"), you'll find generic armour piece v.2, which is ever so slightly better than the one you have with the exact same name, except v.2... Yes, they were actually so lazy that they didn't bother to come up with original names for their equipment and instead added version numbers on them! I think I got up to version 8 on my best piece of equipment before I uninstalled the beta.. still with the same name. I'm so disappointed. The setting isn't half bad and it's a breath of fresh air to fight aliens instead of orcs. But it's so generic, and when you've made a point of NOT being generic and actually call yourself "innovative", it's twice as bad. Richard Garriott, how you have fallen

You must all buy 10 copies of the new Kanye West album

I went to a concert with Kanye West once.. he was like "It wasn't my box of porn, honest!". -
Sweden puts teh smackdown on CCTV voyeurism
mkreku replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
Yup. The mining company, LKAB, is so rich they've decided to move half the town, one building at a time, to be able to drill the iron ore core that runs beneath the town. -
Is DX10 performance ever good?

I don't think Kiruna has cameras yet. In fact, I don't think they have electricity yet. The polar bears ate all the electricity. -
What the.. I vaguely remember feeling some chills running down my spine in late May.. IT WAS YOU GUYS! I need to read ALL the threads on this board it seems

I've added another game to my "looking forward to" list: Dead Island, Techland's newest project. It's supposed to be a FPS survival horror game. Not much else is known about it, but since I've enjoyed everything Techland has ever released (especially Xpand Rally was a really good game, but I also liked Chrome and Call of Juarez), I'm sure I'll enjoy this too. Empty gamepage: http://www.deadislandgame.com/

Found my first dragon! Unfortunately he killed me in one hit.. Overlooking Cape Dun in the middle of the night. Nice view. Cape Dun Lighthouse. The weird guys staring at the camera are orcs.. except the guy to the left who's just plain ugly.

i have heard bad reviews game and i played and i was not impressed Well.. yeah. I've read the bad reviews too. And I've followed the heated discussion on Gothic 3's official board closely. But since there are no more official patches coming (last was 1.12) and there have been four community patches already (fixing 124 known bugs), I decided it was time to give it a go. That and my girlfriend is in England for ten weeks.. Anyhow, the game runs very smoothly on my system (never goes below 40 fps), only stutters slightly every once in a while and I have yet to find a single bug (700+ still reported on the bug tracker!), I'm enjoying myself. I've only just started, but so far it feels like they've got that Gothic feeling going.. somewhat. We'll see.

Witnessing the beauty of SpeedTree. Or something. The water looks great in Gothic 3, but the hero has lost the ability to dive. Sigh. Dramatic vistas. The waterfall looks nice.. in motion.

I've finally started playing Gothic 3, only some nine months after I purchased it. I'm actually having a blast. It's much better than I anticipated.

Ok, NOW I'm interested in Left 4 Dead (around a year or so after everyone else..). I read this: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/left4dea...=gumballs;img;1 It sounds incredible! Great write-up! Now if only I could find three other friends who'd be interested in this..

I have a few gay friends. I didn't even know they were gay until they told me, so it really isn't a big deal. Maybe the fact that one of them was the president of a gay club in town would have given me a hint, but nooo. I might not be the sharpest tool in the shed.

I had almost the exact same experience with Fable. I got it just after I'd played Gothic 2 (one of my top five games of all time) and I was expecting another third person free-roaming RPG.. and I got those wood corridors and tiny villages. I didn't even play for an hours, I think. But just a few months ago I picked it up again and played through it all from beginning to end and I actually enjoyed the game a lot. Weird how perceptions change depending on what you've played prior to the game in question.. It's difficult being a reviewer.

I was so close to buying a Nvidia 8800GTX the other day.. http://techreport.com/onearticle.x/12993 I'm so glad I didn't. I'll just wait until after Crysis is released and hope for ATI to make a huge comeback with their next series of GPU's.

Yuusha brought pictures. You brought words. Guess which felt more likely to be true?

Why are you always so negative?

Woah, Rage is DEFINITELY added to my "looking forward to" list! We once had a thread on this board where we were to describe the game of your dreams and I described a game set in a post apocalyptic world where the gameplay was half RPG and half racing game (with upgradeable vehicles). This looks to be damn close! GO GO CARMACK!
