  1. Games that I would love to see and purchase if they made them work on XP: BioForge The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire These are just three examples of games I'd love to play again but which are really difficult to get to work on XP machines without 3DFX cards. They're not quite old enough to run well under DosBox and they are near impossible to run directly under XP..
  2. Go to the Bio-boards! It will probably be shown there.
  3. I like that it's a low magic setting. If I got to choose, I'd choose a no magic setting. The rarer, the better.
  4. Unfortunately, I think those decisions are up to SEGA and not obsidian.
  5. Wasteland is (unfortunately) virtually unplayable nowadays. Not only is it so small (fit on one 5.25" disc!) that all the text in the game is written in a printed hintbook (the game only references paragraphs that you have to find in the book yourself), the graphics and sounds are absolutely eye and ear damaging. They need to remake the game though. And make a sequel!
  6. The only thing wrong about Alpha Protocol's graphics was that they were too clean, which is what I've read most people complaining about. The art direction was a little too IKEA. And seriously, it doesn't have to be Crysis in terms of technology. It doesn't take longer to make graphics look good, if you have competent artists and a strong direction. I seriously don't think it's as much about polygon counts and advanced graphics engines anymore.
  7. I'm not angry, I am underwhelmed and disappointed. And it's not the graphics engine or the amount of polygons that's the problem in this instance (and it's impossible to tell anything about them from this teaser anyhow), it's the art direction. I honestly think it blows. It's like they've gotten the worst of two worlds since it's both horribly generic and aesthetically challenged.
  8. Are you serious? Did we watch the same trailer? Here comes the pic spam! Where did you see crisp graphics? To me it's all a blurry mess with really weird lightning and shadowing. The backgrounds are, for the most part, indistinguishable as they're so blurry and non-descript. Someone mentioned that they were going for large scale battles. That would explain a lot because the first thing I thought when I saw these character models was that they looked like they were ripped from Total War or something. Their models look bad when zoomed in because they have to be able to have hundreds of them on screen at once. I'm hoping this teaser trailer has nothing to do with the actual in-game graphics.
  9. Seriously, have you seen the new trailer? It looks like complete ****! Long time since I've seen hair and faces that bad. Four years in the making..?
  10. Pretty impressive video from Far Cry 2: http://www.eurogamer.net/tv_video.php?playlist_id=12019 It's all about killing people, but still.. it's nice to see them let you use your imagination!
  11. This is what could sell it to me. I know there's DosBox, but it would be awesome to have code that works "out of the box" on newer systems even when it comes to older games. I'd gladly pay for that luxury.
  12. No, the Gothic games are the same. They even have an animation for you when you drink potions. In the middle of the combat, your character calmly puts away his weapon, reaches for his backpack, picks out a potion, unplugs it, drinks it, puts back the empty bottle and then redraws his weapon. Meanwhile the orc you've been fighting has chopped off your head. Also, in the Gothic games there's no limit on the size of the inventory: if it's loose, pick it up! I think that's the best way of handling the inventory-Tetris-problem. Sure, it's absurd being able to carry so much, but that's a prize I am willing to pay to not have to constantly rearrange my inventory to fit that vital piece of eq. you desperately want and just found. That, combined with the auto-sorting (weapons, armor, potions & scrolls, and other) makes it very easy to handle. When designing a game and a game interface, you always have to balance absurdity, user friendliness and fun. In Space Siege it sounds like they've gone too far with the user friendliness.
  13. Got to love that he announces that over on the Bio-boards.. even though I am writing this post on a part of their own forum dedicated to one of those games.
  14. So.. the big countdown was to announce that they will be showing a trailer a week from now? That's the dumbest **** I've seen in a while.
  15. Yeah, I found that one, but I am too chicken to install it :D I'll just wait until it appears in the official system.
  16. How weird. I like the name "Dragon Age" a lot more when they added "Origins" behind it. Why is that?!
  17. I really should learn to keep my mouth shut. I am using a 4870 now and it doesn't even have a driver on the official ATI site (yet)! I am seeing boulders and bushes straight through the trees in Gothic 3 right now..
  18. Do you guys like the art direction in that trailer? I think it looks horrible! Everything is white, red or blue. Since when do we build an entire society utilizing only three colours? I don't know, it just looks bad to me. Off-puttingly bad. I think the gameplay looks a lot nicer than the art, that's for sure.
  19. This is what I've always been saying: it's better to motivate with a carrot than a whip. Let's hope this is the beginning of a trend.
  20. Just a slight necro on this topic.. because it turned out that the 48XX series is indeed living up to its potential. And look at what it's done to the market already! Nvidia trying to counter with the 9800GTX+ (and slightly failing), Nvidia having to slash their prices.. a lot, Nvidia releasing the 260 and 280 models to try and hold onto the performance crown. Can't wait for the 4870x2 to arrive! And for Nvidia to send the 280 through 55nm production lines! I wonder how long before we get to see the 1GB 4870? I read they scrapped it momentarily because of GDDR5 shortages, but that's bound to change sooner or later.
  21. I'm like Krezack, I can't help but feel positive about Alpha Protocol. From what I've read and gathered so far, the only things I don't like about the game are the over-the-top villains and the unlimited ammo decision (and that you can't pick up opponents weapons). Otherwise it's just what I want; a RPG that plays out in contemporary times, hopefully with a lot of freedom to move around and explore, realistic (at least based on real life) weapons, story and writing skill of Obsidian and FPS combat. If they could implement vehicles and make each town you got to visit as big as Vice City (from GTA: Vice City), I'd be in heaven. That may be asking for too much though. I'll have White Gold (Boiling Point 2) for those needs. By the way, why aren't the weapons real weapons? Is it because it's expensive to license the use of all the names? I don't mind that much, just as long as we don't have to see 2mm calibre weapons and such nonsense.
  22. So uh, yeah.. what was that about respeccing again?
  23. Got to love this part: So now having an inventory is too complex.. and having to find quest givers is a chore.. Oh, the humanity.
  24. I don't think the cat survived:(
