Bought an (expensive) guest bed from a Finnish company who has royally ****ed up everything and the guy I'm talking to is being a colossal pain in the ass of the arrogant kind. Happily years of internet has coached me how to deal with people of limited intelligence with delusions of grandeur. Still messed up my weekend guest plans. ****. Edit: It's funny how I recycle similar expressions within posts in English when I don't watch out. While I actually think in English instead of translating, it's an interesting insight into how writing in a foreign language limits your thought processes. (evidence removed from above)

Meanwhile in London: Beheading in broad daylight

Godwin's law? Also, prospective defence from a colleague: "An extremely fragile and misshapen childhood results in a volatile adulthood. Already from the crib my client was grossly cheated of his rights and devoid of privileges, kindness and caring. Not to mention they didn't have soap." I assume there's an original source for this, but I've had a pop culture fail. -
Co-signed. Been really sluggish the whole week, happily birch pollen levels are going down and I can soon get off the meds. Also, there's a version of the 419 scam that's attempting to target lawyers. Good English in the mails etc. Mildly interesting.

Obsidian currently working on next-gen console title

... I assumed that would be more a part of the "communication" aspect of the job and less of core gameplay, but, hey... -
I'd almost trade this full lethargy for full-on-but-useless right now. Nothing seems to help.

Well said my friend, you have summarized my post nicely And they say Lawyers tend to over-complicate things Just the bad ones.

Note to self: Don't ask Bruce for dating advice.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Politicians in Finland at least tend to be of average intellect and academic performance, at best (sure, few exceptions). It's fair to assume that the difference between a skilled and unskilled labourer is already too difficult for them, even before you start factoring in leftist ideologies (free movement, everybody should enjoy the same standard of living we do) or xenophobia and the adverse effect it has on the employability of immigrants.

You raise interesting points. I'd suggest that conscription works best when there is a threat of massive conflict, total war, if you will, but less so in a situation of constant low intensity/remote conflict.

Reads like Alpha Protocol 2! High hopes! Or Rock Band RPG! -
See, that's what I disagree with (having served in a conscript army, myself). It's what, if not outright prevents, certainly abridges the gap between civilian and military Enoch spoke of above. Of course in our case draftees - being everybody - don't wind up as infantry, but in nearly all conceivable military occupations. Personally, I had what in the US would be CA type training... And sure, our situation is different, in the sense that everybody who gents sent abroad is either a volunteer reservist or member of the active paid staff.

Turns out that it doesn't matter how big your welfare is, if you lack prospects/work, you will create mischief. Idleness is literally the root of all evil. That's why I wholeheartedly support tv sets in prison cells - the time the guys spend watching 70s show isn't spent on creating new grudges or sharpening shivs. It's also why I question comprehensive welfare systems.

Theory: You seemed hesitant due to said apprehension, which is why she cancelled. Apart from that: aww. Beautiful day outside, woke up of my own accord around six, so feeling a lot sharper than usual in the morning.

And because of that, we're having the best spring in decades (influx of dry continental air from Siberia). :D

UFED Physical Analyzer allows "authorities" to know your movements around the globe for the past month, as all phones with gps store your gps coordinates in their memory for quite a long time. They'll simply take your phone and know exactly where and what you've been doing. I'm just saying it's nothing new. You already have a surveillance in a toy. Very true. And obviously everything on any PC is completely open to experts. Still, a functional camera and mic that automatically send information you have no control over from your living room to god knows where is as Orwellian as it gets. And since the damn this isn't backwards compatible, I can't even do "Garrus, move up!" on it.

Perfect weather outside, landlord bought me a heavy-ish lunch... now fighting to stay awake in the office. Thankfully I bought a dyson airblade here, so I can blast my face.

Request for assistance - academic definition

I dunno, dialectic in the more classical sense seems a pretty good fit to me. -
So, was in Helsinki for the weekend. IIRC there's a negative correlation between the height of ladies' heels and the economy: The worse it's going the higher the heels. We're in deep ****.

So you called my Berlin Wall and raised with the Baader-Meinhof gang?

I dunno, I think it's an excellent representation of an ideology that thrived on being "the lesser evil".

I already have VLC autopause when my phone rings, that's smart enough for me.

The future? It's my present. I don't need a big TV bulking up my living space. Is there ever anything on it? For TV-series? Internet. Movies? Bluray/DVD on my PC. Why would I need a TV and console? Yes, those console-exclusive games suck (I look at you Heavy Rain or Red Dead Redemption), but they are seriously not worth over $1000 off additional tech one has to buy for them. Funny, I'm almost the opposite at home. Seriously wondering why I need a computer there when I have a tv, ps3 and some other assorted little boxes (and a big one in the shape of a Pioneer HT amp). Sure, I have an obliging employer and a workplace I could hit with a snowball from home during the winter, but still.

I skimmed the conference through in 10 minutes this morning, I kind of like how the COD game summarised the whole affair: "Now that we have next generation tech, we can implement things like LEANING and a DOG!" FFS... Mmh, I've found Microsoft's Illumiroom tech to be the first new cool thing since, well, forever, but it's not enough for me to buy their stalker camera and boxy ps3 design knockoff console...
