This reminds me of that x-files episode where they put amphetamines in fox mulder's apartment block's water supply. Do you guys all live in the same place?

Eh, it's that generally vague running a temperature, stabbing headaches, aching joints and upset stomach all combined.. Oh ok. I had visions of stuff more male-specific than that. At any rate, glad it's feeling better at least. Looks like we're not going up to SSF, which selfishly improves my mood considerably. No, that's the Gentleman's Cold. (aka clap)

Free "I'm with Stupid" shirts to be handed out to everybody but Morgoth this weekend.
-
why stupid? seems a harsh judgement to make on someone who was born unable to move their arms and legs. It's Morgoth, it's not even supposed to make any sense to anybody else. (Just ask him about game genres)

Either they've spent all these years polishing a turd to a blinding shine, or this game is actually going to be awesome.

It's still vapid, though. I've never thought games to be a particularly expensive form of entertainment, mostly in the contrary, actually, but I also understand that I'm pretty much alone with this sentiment. Oh, that's tongue in cheek. Well, I guess I might not be as alone as I thought. Had a good chuckle at the "more obscure, the better" and "fun" parts, wonder why?

That's the only good thing about the Dyson "fanless" fans. And that you can't mutilate yourself with them, but that might be a negative, too. Also near-sobbing about the idiocy of people not building AC around here because it's "not hot" (including a new hospital). Sure, it's not "hot", but when you build houses to retain all the heat, it can get pretty ****in' uncomfortable. I had flashbacks of my time from Greece last night until it started raining.

Let's hope my confusion of IW with HR won't turn out to be prophetic.

I like your sister more by the minute. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_Hughes The bigger question is, how long will the man stay in the dark room after he has lost it? (A: Depends on how much money he has!)

The guy was the lead designer of Deus Ex. And he also managed to turn a Xbox 1 game with a messy engine into something playable. He has more credibility than 90% of all other "me too" designers out there. An outside porting house apparently managed to make Deus Ex 1 work on the PS2, so... DX:HR was an abortion enginewise (IMO, compared to, say, the KOTORs), story progression wise (the opposite of meaningful choice) and gameplaywise.

That's what I keep saying!

I can imagine it now:*looks at DVD collection* *points* *gasps* Y-you're a n-n-n-n-NERD AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh *runs away* No, it was a bit more subtle, followed by "hey, I got engaged to my ex boyfriend!" a month or so later You might be onto something. Or maybe she was just resolutionist and shocked that I still own a dvd or two among all the blu-rays...

More dramatic that way I guess. Messing around with my new phone at work, it's a bit bigger than my old phone and just a tad bigger than my girls iPhone but not nearly as big as a coworkers Galaxy S. It's pretty light though and still easily fits into the watch pocket of my jeans so it's all good. Had a good weekend of nerding out with the future Mrs whatever my last name is. We built a fort in the living room, made some popcorn and had a Star Wars marathon (just the original trilogy). Good times. The last girl I dated seriously freaked out when she saw I had the star wars movies on dvd. And this from a self-professed geek. And it's not like I don't have over 400 movies, anyway. I swear, dating in Finland is like Russian roulette.

Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome you are. What it essentially boils down is that geekiness is - on the scale, and if you can crank up enough + from elsewhere, you don't have problems.
-
I could be suffering from time displacement, but IIRC the first 3 books (halfling's gem etc.) weren't that dire. The latter books were some of the worst tripe TSR/WotC released, and considering some of the Dragonlance prequels, that's saying something. That said, I learned English from those DL/FR books, so they'll always have a special place in my heart.
-
Sad how geek parents also doom their children.

Maria's gone too. Maybe they felt that this place was beyond saving? I've known this place was beyond saving for years. It's never stopped me before. I'll light it if you throw it.

I don't see why; IMO BW is not a bad developer its just a matter of them wasting their potential. Which I as I see it, is their ability to craft a world that's both believable and engaging but their execution of the story doesn't live up to it. Although this could be a simple matter of me being annoyed at BW for pandering to the COD crowd instead of my taste. But then again I would really like storytelling in the medium grow, not become an excuse for explosions and "press a button and awesome happens". So maybe that my bias towards them. I think "pandering to the COD crowd" and your opposition of the awesome button are symptomatic of your real bias/dislike and not the actual reason for them.

This is a feeling that I share; to a point. I don't see them falling from grace but I don't see them live up to what I perceive to be their full potential. They have this amazing ability to create deep, thorough backgrounds for their original IP games. With stories going back further more than what anyone in the audience would care to read. This was something that one could appreciate in their earlier games, but as technology advanced I've somehow lost track of it. Namely, everything post ME I'd like to point out that the latter part of your statements cancels out the first part, since I don't see you guys hitting the threads involving every single well-funded (though with DA2, even that might be called to question) developer not reaching "their full potential". Not that I'm hoping for equality in this, would make the signal/noise ratio even worse than it already is.

I guess. Where are the Coen Bros, Scorsese, Welles, Mann, Coppola, hell, even the Nolans of the game industry? Considering the profiling that Bioware seems to put themselves to (or any other big developer), you would expect them to try have some sort of elevated standards. In before "Bioware does not owe anything to anybody!" but please refrain from that since that was not the point. It all boils down the old "auteurism" thread we had, as we can see from your comparison. I couldn't care less what the names on the game say (as long as they don't do unlawful imprisonment and fraud). Some people have high (I'd say unrealistic) expectations from Bioware, yet often seem happy with products that are IMO clearly inferior. And some people are, of course, just happy to hate. Never understood both camps myself, Bio's games aren't as good as they could be, but are still, unfortunately, the best made in the current industry climate; as for the people who want to spend their money so that they can bitch about Bioware - you are lucky, I don't have enough time to indulge the things I like, never mind the ones I hate.
-
Sure, doesn't seem like a healthy way of spending your time, but if it stops you from going out and murdering random people, please go ahead.
-
Maybe it's just time to realise that you guys obviously are no longer in Bioware's target audience.
-
No comment apart from that. ****.

Probably a reference to the Saerileth mod 15-year old romanceable Paladin of Tyr, yeeeaaahhhh No, it was a reference to one of the DA2 threads in this forum.

I like a mojito or two every now and then, but normally it's virgin cuba libre* all the way. It's a good preparation for when you work 100 hours a week to actually get paid. I'm lucky that my entire student debt consists of what I have on my credit card at the moment. Life sure has sucked for the past 10 years, though... *for the drink analphabets, that's coke with a slice of lime.
