  1. I disagree it is unfair to not extol them for good deeds when that is literally what their job is, and you assume the best of the cop if you think that blocks to "friendship" is solely on the side of the public. Most of the cops I know really give off the vibe of the quote from Blade Runner where "if you're not cop, you're little people", if we're relying on anecdotes, and I have plenty of experience of my cop neighbour exhibiting small **** syndrome. As I stated though, them not being your friends doesn't mean they are evil or something, otherwise every person you've never met would be so. Volo's not far off the mark when he says you treat them like a gang member or a wild dog I'd say, just avoid them if possible, don't piss them off if you have to interact with them.
  2. Well a lot of the "friendly" things a cop will do is because they are paid to do so. The statement they are not your friend is like the statement about HR - they are there to protect the company, not you. Doesn't mean other party is demonised by saying so, just helps to keep the relationship clear in your head.
  3. Never understood why anyone would think some armed, shaven headed dude with Oakleys would ever be so.
  4. Hm, tough to say. Cops will definitely simmer down and be nice, I would think. Well unless they have black dudes with ARs, then they may employ their killology degrees. But I am being a tad facetious. Definitely is not a good idea, as you look at worst case possible.
  5. Scared and angry people ? Well the cops already have them so no issue there.
  6. After listening to customers complain about issues, I realize how true the statement "Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them.” is.
  7. Hoc musica placet Caecilium. (Wrong, but it's been 20 years) Ah wait, should be hoc musica Caecilium placet. I think.
  8. Man, metal sucks these days.
  9. Cops seem to be very polite and civil with armed guys at protests.
  10. Xe is outsourced to TMSC, I believe. Disappointing news, at least they apparently have a grasp on the issue so it's not a total disaster. Guess it does go to show how difficult the engineering is. https://www.anandtech.com/show/15926/intel-7nm-delayed-by-6-months-company-to-take-pragmatic-approach-in-using-3rd-party-fabs On the bright side, have a lot of entertaining uninformed opinions on this to read.
  11. American healthcare is so weird from the outside, some times.

  13. Or go with Lamenters. Then any faults with the design will be lore based.
  14. Can't wait to see the half-lie statistics they'll truck out to show its success in other places. Already did so in KC - https://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article244421027.html
  15. Vermin Supreme would get mine
  16. Americans are stupid enough to fall for it.
  17. The Al-Qaeda - Saddam connection was always pretty funny. Not sure how credible it was but was an ex-CIA agent claimed she was told to build up some link between Zarqawi and Saddam, and also the CIA was told to hold off bumping off Zarqawi for similar reasons. For some reason I thought Chalabi was Curveball, https://www.theguardian.com/world/2011/feb/15/defector-admits-wmd-lies-iraq-war
  18. Pft, not even a cool chapter.
  19. All that and they choose a song from GTAV, bah. Rockstar would pull a lot of money if they ever remastered SA.
  20. Ran into my local neckbeard prototype in my local store, again, glad I confirmed it existed and the first wasn't a hallucination - dude was in cargo shorts and fedora again but had a Manowar tshirt this time. Should have hung around to hear if he'd start bitching about women, but I got my cigs and got out of there.
  21. Looks like not even in the military can you escape the annual review scoring BS.
  22. Sort of funny the author is praising the cops for not abandoning a statue, as if that were vital. But no, I think it's just Trump playing up for optics (sort of funny to use the DHS, that entire agency's genesis was that) so look hard and be all about "law and order", as ironic as that is for him. And as I said, large chunks of society really enjoy uniformed grunts roughing people up. Doubt these federal agents are really going to do much of anything meaningful, maybe rough up some protesters as cops usually do - ignore the guys throwing bricks and go beat up some skinny dude with a sign. Are the police materially abandoned by city officials ? Lack of them chanting some equivalent of "blue lives matter" is irrelevant, cops' ego's being fragile aside. The city government hasn't been onside with cutting the cop budget, with the defunding fuss and over the years have steadily increased it. Which makes sense given the violence level in parts of the city - though suppose you can make the argument they are getting poor ROI on that
  23. Only counts if you load modern games that way!
  24. Hah. Yeah mainly I keep it to load up old games and I've a bunch of stuff archived on DVDs. Back when I had a bandwidth cap I needed it for larger games - got the physical version of GTAV, 5 discs, blah. Had to replace a bunch during my transition from XP -> 7 -> 8/10, as with my soundcard.
  25. I am sure I am the only one that still uses an optical drive
