  1. There's apparently a single Nazi joke in the game and the government rushed to prevent your malleable mind from being inspired to invade Poland and make France surrender because of it.
  2. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?11198-Steam-banned-my-account-without-any-explanation You don't really hear a lot about this, because a minority of users use VPN. I tend to buy my Steam keys from Kinguin, since they're cheaper, but I always pay attention to get ones for the EU. Kinguin did run a check and requested proof of residence, though.
  3. Note that using VPNs is in contradiction of the Steam Subscriber Agreement: So it's risky. I tend to travel to Poland relatively frequently to visit my family, so I usually bypass German bull**** censorship regulations by logging into Steam there. Can't ban me if I am physically in another country. Can't tell if going foreign is a viable option for you, though. Humanoid is correct that once bought, your access will not be abridged. I can happily shoot and disintegrate Nazis in Wolfenstein that way, even if the sad old creatures forcing censorship would have a heart attack at the notion.
  4. I'd argue that weapon specialization in Deus Ex was poorly done: You play as a UNATCO killing machine worth 50 billion dollars who can't even shoot straight. The wobble was atrocious. I'd also argue that Deus Ex suffered from the same issue. The game effectively penalized you for not knocking out and looting everything you could (not to mention you could easily get enough skill points and upgrades to get all the relevant skills and augs maxed out). DX:HR has one thing going for it that DX1 doesn't: Social boss fights. <3
  5. Thi4f wasn't made by the team that made DX:HR. Same studio, different teams. Thanks for the great summary. May I point out something? You're saying it's a very good game and then list severe flaws which mean it's not one. I'd say it's better to say that it's a fun game overall. Kind of like burgers are very tasty, but ain't very good cuisine.
  6. bbCode isn't hard to learn or use. I find it much faster to use that fiddling with WYSIWYG editing.
  7. Yes he was acquitted but he WAS impeached. Impeachment is simply the process of bringing charges against a Federal Official. That's it. It is just a bill of indictment. It is NOT the act of removing that official from office. That is done automatically if the subsequent trial (after a successful bill of impeachment is brought against the official) ends in a conviction. The trial is NOT part of the impeachment process. Investigator Kenneth Starr brought 11 charges against Bill Clinton. The House Judiciary Committee forwarded four charges to the House of Representatives. The House approved two of the four impeachment articles sent up by the Judiciary Committee, rejecting Article II (Perjury in the Paula Jones civil case) and Article IV (Abuse of Power by making perjurious statements to Congress in his answers to the 81 questions posed by the Judiciary Committee) .but passing Articles 1 (Perjury before Independent Counsel Ken Starr's grand jury) and Article III (Obstruction of Justice related to the Jones case).. When the House successfully approved articles I and III, Bill Clinton had been impeached (indicted). Clinton was subsequently tried in Senate trial resided by Chief Justice William Rehnquist; was acquitted and remained in office. Here's a link with the full text of the articles of impeachment passed by the house: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/articles122098.htm#full1 Here's a link with the reduced text of all four original articles considered by the house http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/impeachvote121198.htm Here's a NYTimes link that lays out the process: http://www.nytimes.com/learning/general/specials/impeachment/ And that's the reason I prefer continental law. Thanks for the correction, though as pointed out Bartimaeus, impeachment is generally synonymous with removal from office around these parts (though it may vary by state). In Poland the procedure is entirely different, as impeachment is decided by the State Tribunal, after a motion by the National Assembly (Sejm + Senate).
  8. Yeah, it's quite ridiculous how there can be no good contemporary politicans. Bitching and moaning everywhere. I consider Obama to be a good president, as while he could be better, he's certainly not bad. Many people forget that presidents/prime ministers aren't dictators and they operate under circumstances that limit their options. If they don't do something seemingly logical and "right," it might be worthwhile to think why they are doing so. It might be a question of perspective. Living abroad certainly helped me appreciate my own country's government and its policies. Its most recent accomplishments, namely Sikorski's handling of Ukraine together with French and German ministers makes me feel a bit of national pride. Plus, the nuclear power program is getting of the ground, so I'm a happy cat. By the way, Clinton was not impeached, at least not in a way that ousted him from office. He was acquitted two months later by the Senate.
  9. Your dream may still come true, young Gyges, if they have scantily clad wenches in Defiance Bay.
  10. And trigger an economic collapse in the process. Have you noticed how ironic it is? Everyone weaves doom scenarios centered around running out of resources, but this one centers around there being too many resources to go around, at least as far as Russia is concerned.
  11. I recall Norway and the United States as alternative sources of gas. Plus, this crisis may finally motivate the EU member states to get off their collective asses and invest in shale gas. Unless the green nutcases put the foot on the gas and start claiming it will be used to gas people.
  12. Pillars won't be complete without 'pillars', if you catch my drift.
  13. And ride around in vehicles with Russian military plates with numbers that just happen to correspond to the Black Sea Fleet and the Southern Military District in North Caucasus.
  14. That's actually quite brilliant. That said, I wonder if Eternity will allow for roleplaying characters that are slightly... Off. Not full out "wear-your-face-as-underwear-and-speak-Esperanto" crazy, but enough to have access to responses in a completely bizarre tone? One can only dream of playing E.A. PoE Malkavian-style.
  15. They wouldn't be paying for any single forum, more like several dozen at the same time. The lack of effort is characteristic.
  16. The closest thing to such a hybrid is the UH-60 Blackhawk, but the Hind is in a class of its own. However, it isn't really that effective as a transport, as far as I recall. Apart from being cramped and steering like a brick with full load, the hold is unarmored. It is useful as a supplemental fuel/ammo store, though. Also, Gorgon, you're better off asking your sis to stop turning people into stone than expect sources from oby. He/she/it is too busy inventing new crap to fling against the designated enemy of Russia, kind of like communist parties did once for Moscow. Given his/her/its insistence, it may be a paid shill.
  17. May be. Would Shryke be really interested in bedding Vladimira Pootyn?
  18. That has a lot to do with a general lack of research. Kind of like with people dismissing UPA as a collaborationist militia, ignoring the historical complexities of the region and the fact that UPA was pursuing a doctrine trying to carve out an independent Ukraine between the Nazis and the Soviets. It didn't work out too well.
  19. Forgot you have the Gigolo rep.
  20. He'd be forced to cooperate, then stand trial. Russia would have to invent another reason to justify its invasion of Crimea.
  21. They are indeed neat, though hardly supporting the notion of a neo-fascist Ukraine wanting to kill all the juice. Incidentally, fascists.
  22. Israeli neo-Nazis exist. It's not yet finalized. The strings attached by Putin and his oligarchs would likely be worse, propping up Yanukovych and his clique.
