  1. I also feel the need to back Wiser on the rail mecca arguement. Even if they completely leveled Union staion why wouldn't people just disembark on the stop before and walk or take public transportation. In case you can't tell what I am getting at is the scale of what you talk abotu is beyond any one terroist group, maybe if they all grouped together, but then if they were willing to do that why do we have so many seperate terroist organisations.
  2. No the problem is we see differently on how our country would be crippled. Just because they could really inconvience our people doesn't mean the infrastructure would be crippled. I underlined a portion of what you said so I could bring attention to it. What you meant to say are there are not many direct routes from Washington to Portland. There are many routes between Washington and Portland just none as direct as I-5. Now for the part I highlighted and put in bold, that is an out and out lie and I challenge you to show how they could do this to any state save Hawaii.
  3. Is it the only way to get cross country? Are there not exit ramps off the interstates that could be used to bypass the damage? Since it is unlikel they could damage more than a small portion of it don't you think construction crews could get a road laid fairly quickly enough to get it back on its feet. Huge problems does not necessarily mean those areas would be crippled as there is almost always more than one way into a city. Thats is if they could do any of those things in a conserted effort to hurt us. Not something terrorism is know for. Which is why 9-11 was such a shock because it was more of a military type attack than a terrorist attack. It would be highly unlikely to see all of those things happen at one time which would be the only way they could through the US in to utter chaos. There is Chemlocs wasy but as I said it would really depend on how fast the grid was brought back online.
  4. As could any number of Hackers if getting into heeps of trouble didn't bother them. The big problem with living in the computer age is it not. The question is how long would it take our government to get those things up and running again after the attack that is the question that needs to be answered. You need to remember there is no physical damage done to the infrastructure we would just lose control of it. If there was an extended period those grids were down lets say a month or more it would definately hurt the economy if they were back up and running in days what kind of effect would that have?
  5. Just out of curiosity how would you "cripple" those road ways? More interested in I-80 as that is one am familiar with? I put the question to you again how would the attacks on any of these "cripple" our infrastructure?
  6. That is something that goes beyond party lines. Wasn't the first World Trade Center attack during Clintons administration? Wouldn't that have made his policies just as inefectual and likely to have caused further attacks as much as what Bush is doing now. Hind sight would say yes.
  7. No but I am smart enough to know that the reason nothing was really said about what we did was because he was residing in Afganistan a fairly insignificant world player. Would the UN had been so compliant with us running in and beating up on other countries like Saudi Arabi, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, North Korea, or Chechnya? What you have to remeber is while the UN was built for wonderful reasons politics still play a huge roll in it. Each countries representetive is only worried about one thing and that is his countries best interests, as it should be. I just don't understand why people think we are bad for being worried about our best interests.
  8. I never meant completely move away from more like the move from sdram to ddr. While sdram was still supported on AMD boards AMD made it clear they had ddr in mind for the future. Now that that future is relised we see few boards with sdram slots. While board manufacturers have said they like both DDR2 and PCI-X they really haven't commited to anything. DDr 2 is wholly dependant on AMD as the memory controller is onboard I wish AMD would get off their but and just say they like it and plan to use it in the future. One good thing is AMD has finally standardised their socket with the 939 socket so all cpus will work in all boards.
  9. That is not exacty true I can not count the times I have seen older computers from all the big name manufacturers that have limited the amount of ram per slot. Sometimes as low as 64 MBs with only 2 slots that doesn't make a condusive environment for high amounts of ram. It is much better now but you know as well as I do computers and software are legacy animals, which is probably their biggest problem.
  10. Atually would Kerry have even went after Bin Ladin considering it might have been difficult to get UN approval. We did oust the Taliban after all, the ruling government of Afganistan for no other reason than they support terrorists and general bad demeanor. As far as destroying preserves maybe he wont but owning more than one house, a fleet of cars, a boat as big as some homes, and a private jet kind of disqualify him as an evironmentalist. <_<
  11. I am not real sure why you see this as odd. All you have to do is take into account the average amount of ram per pc. Now does that mean there aren't people who use more? No not at all but if you take an average it is usually a small percentage of people that need more than that. It was apearantly something Ms felt was a low priority.
  12. I would also agree with that last bit Monte. Well at least the part you ittalisized.
  13. The only way to make it free is down load and that would for the most part exclude anyone with out access to highspeed connection? Which is why they are technically charging for Redhat through a loop hole. Is this some what correct? Don't get so jumpy Sarj sometimes it takes a while for stuff to sink in which is why I deleted that post. Before this goes to far understand I like Linux for many of the reasons that were brought up. Like I said though they are exploiting a loop hole to charge for Linux. Also you are correct MS offers corporate versions that can be installed on more than one computer with the same key code, it all depends on the corporate license you buy on how many computers you can install it on. The problem is all these people who hate microsoft for being the jugernaught they are are doing nothing about it. Why because Linux is free and they wont get paid. Yet they condem microsoft for the same philosophy. SInce Linux is so great build a version evryone can use and continue to support it that would hurt MS more than the complainig and hacking that is going on now.
  14. Viable as in anyone can use. They are afraid if some one went out and built an OS based off linux it would fall to the same short comings as MS, more worried about money than what they are actually giving the consumer. Only partially true I believe while I can not charge for Linux I do believe I can charge for derivite of it such as Redhat or lindows. I am not the best person to ask this though it would be better for someone who is a linux user to tell us.
  15. Nah its just a standard in the industry. Linux users always pipe up on the fact their operating system is more stable or cutting edge because it is open source. Yet will not make it a viable alternative to windows in fear it will become another MS.
  16. I think it will hurt Kerry a little bit the way it is because even though their is no proof of colusion it is a strange coincidence isn't it.
  17. Now wouldn't that be one hell of a scandal, if it were true?
  18. All I am going to say is typical. No I was not I wanted you to defend your stance just as you want other people to when they say the NWN OC was bad. How hard is that to understand? Did I attack either of your coments, or flame you in anyway? No I asked for clarification that is all.
  19. That is exactly what I wanted from you. Give a reason not a one sentence answer that you think sums it up.
  20. Ok its a slow day and Ifeel like talking. Please Volourn expand on that.
  21. So what do you guys think of Dan Rather apologising after he relised his big story about Bush and the reserves might have been smoke and mirrors. This is not Pro or anti Bush this is more of a state of news media thing.
  22. Hmm you didn't quite read one of my posts. 64 bit needs to stadarsise some things. In AMD's case they need a standard socket, decide which bus they are going to use PCI or PCI Express, and if DDR 2is what they want. As I stated when AMD makes a move to these probably with in the next few months to a year the early adopters get screwed. I mean they have already made the move to socket 939 and said it was their standard now, and PCI express boards if I remember correctly are on the move as we speak. AMD needs to decide what they are going to do and do it. I am not bashing AMD I just want them to hurry up.
  23. Thanks Marc.
  24. Wouldn't happen to be either south or west Chicago would it.(As in Cabrini Green or Rockwell gardens would it?) Bah Chicago Metro and State Ville always have room for one more. Dang there I go again getting off topic I hope Monte doesn't see.
  25. Marc I have one question is that directly from MS? Just curious as I was going by memory and it was from MAximum PC's latest issue?
