With CCP biting the bullet on the Vampire MMO I feel Obsidian should try again for the World of Darkness license to make a Bloodlines 2 type CRPG. With CCP now in a evaluation stage of what to do next with the property this may be a great time to apprach the topic with them. I know from previous comments from Feargus they were just inches away from getting the lic from White Wolf before they were bought out by CCP. Approching CCP now while the iron is hot may be a golden oppurtunity for a very popular franchise that most gamers know even if they don't realize it. My 2 coppers.

What I like about it is the char sheet is VERY similar to the PnP version. Thus the back end mechanics I am sure are going to be pretty similar as well. I just hope they have not only cyberware but bioware in the game too. My PC's always prefered to pay extra for the organic mod solutions. None the less glad I funded it and looking forward to it!

On a related note, I bought the witcher 1 from steam recently. Played it about 30 mins and I simply couldn't get into it. I read all the hype, saw all the praise and I simply for the life of me can't understand why it is so highly regarded as a CRPG. Granted I was only playing for a half hour but most all games I play are able to capture me within that time period of playing. New Vegas, DA:O, XCom, Civ5, NWN2, Skyrim etc all 'got' me right out of the gate. Perhaps it's the fact I am forced into playing a specific character and can't create my own or the controls seem a little anti-intuitive. Either case was wondering if that happened to other CRPG players with this game and your advice.

Actually, us adults can handle a joke without flying off the handle.. Watch the tone. It wasn't a joke, it was a poorly masked snyde remark which I returned, just didn't mask it. Adults can tell the difference.

Actually its really smart. This new exp pack is all about catering to female gamers. They love building, dressing up, RPing parents/nuturing kids (if you doubt any of that see The Sims player stats). IMO any studio that tried to brings in girl gamers is ok im my book.

Or you could just get a whore and dress her up in bikini mail, for a fraction of the time and effort. Or I can import a clown NPC, call it Drowsy Emperor, and have him prance around in game spouting dialog which he thinks is clever, but few else do, becasue he is a attention whore? Either case without these mods faces and bodies look blocky, jagged due to being 'consolized'. These FX edits actually uses the power of video cards that have been made in the past few years to made NPCs look good. Sorry if you are too snobby to appreciate hi res FX. Some of us do however. That said back to the main point, I would also install the hi-res water and foliage mod, makes the water and trees look MUCH better and more realistic. Dude, 4 out of 8 mods you listed are about perfecting virtual girls, so sue me for making fun of your steamy geek passion. Applogizes if my suggestion of eye candy/better looking girls makes youi feel uncomforatable, embarrased. Don't worry once you grow up and get past puberty you realize it's not a bad thing or somthing to feel ashamed about. Us adults like eye candy and can handle it without silly remarks.

Apachii Hair (more and more custom NPCS/followers are using it by default and may crash if not installed) Caliente Female body mod (CBEE) Caliente's Vanilla Clothing for CBBE Better Elven Armor (better recoloring) Steel Dwarven Armor (ditto elf armor) Bella's Better Females Realistic Female Face Skin HD If you are looking for eye candy followers: Girls of Skyrim (plus the patch) Also download the free hi res textures DLC from steam That covers all the basics most everyone uses, a few other suggestions: hi res road signs (easier to read road signs) player home markers (puts player homes on the fast travel map once discovered) cowardly horses (saves you a ton of cash have to re-purchase a horse that got itself killed, ie does not defend you runs away) hope that helps!

The Secret World Beta Key Give-A-Way
TheHarlequin replied to TheHarlequin's topic in Computer and Console
I have give-a-ways from other games when I return from PAX East. And I made some new friends of TSW devs/staff who were kind enough to give me a lot of beta keys to give out. Hence why this has to do with TSW on a WoD site Plus there is some cross over appeal. -

PAX East Vampire 20th Ed PnP Game players needed
TheHarlequin replied to TheHarlequin's topic in Pen-and-Paper Gaming
Yes came out last year. Google v:tm 20th ed and you will see images, info. The ed I got was the black leather, silver gilded pages version only to those who attended the grand masquarade in NOLA last sept. There is a mass produced V20 that is not as nice currently for sale however on drive though rpg. V20 is a cleanup and tweaks to the 3rd edition rules, clans, etc plus all bloodlines and disp from suppluments. It is over 600 pages in size. -
Welcome to the bandwagon. I have been saying this on this forum for YEARS. Obsidian should look into lic the SR property and making a kickass CRPG. But now the founder of SR made the plunge, so too little to late at this point. Considering the finicial position of Obsidian and how poor it currently looks you'd think they would jump on one of the best selling and well known RPG franchises after D&D and V:tM.

Neverwinter Nights 2 first timer, anything I should know?
TheHarlequin replied to WDeranged's topic in Computer and Console
There is a couple ways actually. The easiest is a console command. google it. I never played MotB and had to deal with the meter due to said command. -
Book itself is done for the most part, holding off printing until the spring when the new tourist season starts up. It was too late last year in the season to print it by the time I finished it.

This was demo'ed for us at PAX East last year. I thought the game looked good, voice acting was top notch (the parts we heard) and the crafting system was very DA1-esque. And the combat seemed very dynamic and engaging. If you want to see the video I got head over to my blog on my site, I got a whole page of notes, info and video on this game taken last year.

It does not. Why my interest in waning but I want to be excited.

I am playing GTA 4 Ballad of Gay Tony expansion. I am doing the mission where I need to steal the attack copter and I totally suck at piloting it. Any one give me some pointers? Mainly navigating it effectively I can't seem to get the hang. And I am using the PC version. Thanks for any help!

Harl's top 10 CRPG list of all time
TheHarlequin replied to TheHarlequin's topic in Computer and Console
o.O I am simply pointing out what the feedback as a whole of the game in question was. Pointing out metacritic or the like results are now a bad thing? ahh thats right you just want to go back and forth it isn't about using facts to you. You just like trying to get a rise out of people, My bad > the fact you think you know what i think is hilarious. errrr... simply quoting you. I didn't assume or make anything up. *chuckle* > For starters, I've said repeatedly, that the NWN2 OC is just as good if not better than the NWN1 OC. But, that's irrelevant to what you claim your top 10 list is about. Put on the breaks. You have consistently said TO ME, in THIS FORUM the opposite I do not know how many times. That NWN1 was superior to NWN2 writing (and most other ways)wise. Do I need to dig up the quotes and re-post them? If you had a change of heart glad to see you came around. But don't try to inply you have always held that stance. That is disingenuous at least if not outright lying at worst. > And, cosnidering how much trashing NWN2 got - espicially it's toolset, DM client, and module stuff 9all the stuff that makes NWN series prime to be comapred to pnp and something NWN has over every single other CRPG in comaprison to pnp - shows how ignorant aboutt he majority you think. Just look at how much of a joke NWN2's modding scene is ccomapred to NWN1's. Slam dunk no contest NWN1 wins. Actually it shows me how much of a idiot the majority of module makers were that came from NWN1. They complained because they wanted the dumbed down, a 8 yr old can make a module tools that came with NWN1. Even though in the NWN1 forums they complained they wanted more power to do this and that. Well they got said power. But you can't have your cake and eat it too. You can't have super dumbed down tools AND all the added functions they were screaming for. As they say be careful what you wish for.. And the 20% or so of the makers who stuck with it learned the tools made some amazing things with it. In fact I said this was going to happen when I ran nwn2news. I said in a op ed the majority of nwn1 module makers were not going to survive and port over to nwn2 as the tools will be above their head due to all the added functions (that ironically they requested). So it really wasn't a surprise when that is exactly what happened. > What does bugginess ahve to do with how close a agme captures the pnp FEEL? You buy a car. A awesome car that it epitomizes of what a car should be and even makes you breakfast in the morning. However you can't go more then a block from your house without it breaking down. Does it really matter what the bells and whistles or how awesome the car is if it can't even do it's most basic function consistently? Do you think said car is going to get on any top 10 lists beyond a 'failed potential' list? Exactly. -
Harl's top 10 CRPG list of all time
TheHarlequin replied to TheHarlequin's topic in Computer and Console
Could you quote me from ANYWHERE where I said I "hated" it? Or even said I think it's as low standing as you imply? I simply do not think it brought much to the table. Did it emulate a PnP flavor? Sure if you could a. get it to run without wiping your hdd and b. get past the broken quests even after the few patches it got. (last I knew it was abandoned support wise when many major issues still existed.) This isn't a "best CRPG with failed potential" list. > That's silly talk. Even if we take your point that NWN2 had 'better writing' than NWN1; nwn2 It did and few people aside, yourself included in that minority, felt that way too. Did it have issues? Yes. However few people ever stated the writing or story was such. The majority of feedback was always positive over nwn1 in this regard. > it certainly wasn't closer to 'like playing atable top D&D game'. That's subjective/matter of opinion. We will agree to disagree. > "As for Bloodlines, it had some of the best writing, dialog and plot if any CRPG." > L0L Talk about hyperbole and I love BL's writing, dialogue, and plot. You live in a hole if you feel this was the view of the majority of players and reviewers. You are entitled to your opinion and we all know you like to take the minority opinion for the sake of taking the minority opinion so you can stand on your 'look at me I am different' soapbox. *shrugs* > And, double L0LZ for IWD. Replace IWD or DA with Bard's Tale (in hindsight I should have done that). Fair trade and issue resolved. -
LOL I have done that to opponents. Whacked them and they feel off a cliff or bridge. But never to myself

Harl's top 10 CRPG list of all time
TheHarlequin replied to TheHarlequin's topic in Computer and Console
I felt NWN2 was a huge step forward, writing wise, over NWN1. Was it the lightning in the bottle BG was? No, then again Bioware couldn't even recapture that magic even though they tried their damnest. But it was a solid second after the BG series when it came to feeling like you were playing a table top D&D game IMO. As for Bloodlines, it had some of the best writing, dialog and plot if any CRPG. It was also a close to a translation of PnP to PC game as you could get. Saying bloodlines didn't close the gap between the two seems unfair on your part. As for IWD I feel it transcended it's goal of being a D&D H&S game to something that felt like I was playing a old school D&D PnP module due to the great writing, well designed dungeons and voice acting.
