  1. How is Aloth alive? He kept slipping into a pool of blood in my games *coughs*

Anyway, the fact I only really like Eder out of the returning companion is fine with me, since it means I'll play more with the new ones :)

That blue Orlan looks pretty damn neat.

I wonder how the transition between the games is going to work.

Mostly, I'm not sure I want to play the same classes I did in PoE, so wondering if you start a new character, if it's possible to decide what were your choice in the first game.

  2. Working on PoE2 isn't surprising news.

The fact it's going to go to crowdfunding is interesting though. Especially after Tyranny didn't. I don't mind though.

Going to hurt my pocket, since it's a title I'd probably want to go physical tier rewards, compared to my move to mostly owning digital nowadays :p

All I want it to be is in the same style and spirit of the first game. PoE is an amazing RPG ^^

  3. Other than all that is mentioned above, I loved using tactics here.

I drew their main tanking force into my tanks/summon, while my damage dealers (barbarian for example) were waiting in stealth in a flanking position. Then the damage dealers rushed into their flanks, taking down the priests that were left behind with no protection.

  4. So, been looking at what to take for my barbarian at lvl11.

I saw the 3.02 discussion about One Stand Alone + Eye of the Storm

Not sure if 3.03 changed anything, but with both, I still get the +20% damage from One Stand Alone, even with Eye of the Storm and no engagement, as long as two enemies are attacking me.

The Flanking bonus however, does get redundant, unless you encounter enemies where Eye of the Storm doesn't work.

  5. Old discussion, but I've been thinking about it lately.

First, I think Persistence is an amazing bow, that can be reached way too early in the game.

CloudPiercer and Lenas Er are bows that force you into specific paths, which for me is a knock against them. As one that roleplays a character, I don't want to solve a quest in a specific way because of an item.

I agree hunting bows are usually better than war bows too.

This leaves me with the main comparison of Persistence vs. Stormcaller.

    1. I assume that both bows can be enchanted/leveled to Superb. That leaves us comparing the other traits they have.

    2. At high level, by the time you get Stormcaller, Persistence' Reliability trait should be neglectable for a ranger, as was mentioned above. Wounding is a nice bonus though.

    3. For Stormcaller, I find most traits to be 'nice to have', but not really a big deal. Such as Bulwark, Bolt, Storm. However, one cannot ignore the fact it will chooses between Pierce and Shock damage. Two damage types on a weapon, especially ranged which usually is only Pierce, is very valuable to have. This is made even better due to the -6 DR.

So between Wounding and the ability to produce Shock damage, I'd go with the Shock.

Still, when your ranger finally gives up Persistence for Stormcaller, consider other uses for it. For example, I find Persistence to be really good on a cipher, who could also use the Reliability trait of it. Start with big Blunderbuss shot, then switch to Persistence for speed.

  6. Great job done on the various patches, but please could the next patch address both the defense stacking bug as well as the damage stacking bug (with Confident Aim, mostly). Being a sometimes save-scummer and a POTD soloist (yeah I know kinda sad), it's making strategic play very difficult when a lot of fights now depend on unlucky rolls by the opposition.

    They said they will: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/86041-when-is-the-next-patch-coming-out/?p=1807902

I do wonder if it will fix a save where the mobs already got the stacked up bonuses.
