Affliction and Plague force power bugs
Markus Ramikin replied to WRFan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Thanks for this info. Looking forward to a Guardian playthrough with Plague after fixing this in my Kotor 1 installation . Hm, quick test on a Hulak Wraid (Tatooine desert) shows that after the Plague wears off in 4 rounds (it most certainly is not permanent), the Wraid's defense actually increases, from 25 (10 base + 15 natural) to 26 (10 base +1 dex mod + 15 natural). Wonder what's up with that... Still, re-applying every 5 rounds I was able to beat the Wraid with my level 15 Guardian character... with my fists. In Kotor 1, where there is no Unarmed Specialist feat. I am so going to enjoy this fixed Plague. -
Of course you realize that's most likely unintended and an exploit?

TSLRP - Nar Shadaa complete but Ebon Hawk is empty

I motion that everyone who confuses RP and RCM should be refused help, held against a wall and shot. With paintballs. Hundreds of them. -
Just to be clear on Charisma
Markus Ramikin replied to MasterHealer's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I really don't think Charisma gives you Force Points. Only Wisdom does. Charisma does add to your Force Powers DC just like Wisdom does, increasing the chance of success. And also it makes powers of opposed alignment to yours less costly than they otherwise would be. Overall I find Wisdom more useful to increase. Besides the Force, Charisma mostly helps Persuade, but since skill points (to put into Persuasion) are much more abundant than attribute points, using Charisma for that is a waste, you can get your persuade high enough to meet most checks in the game in time with just skill points (especially if you get 14 int, which I think just about all characters should). Wisdom also counts to a lot of dialogue checks, it determines if a given option will be available or not, so I like it. Not to the same extent as in Planescape:Torment but it's still somewhat useful for that. -
missing material from Kotor II

It's up again. And the main thread linking to it is still on the first page here. -
Levelling Bug
Markus Ramikin replied to GunslingerPartRedux's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I've had this too. It's probably due to all the switching of who the "main character" is during that Nar Shaddaa plot: Exile, Mira, Atton all fulfill that role at some points and I guess it confuses the game. I wouldn't worry, though. The game scales the enemies to your level as they spawn. So being higher or lower level doesn't make the game much easier or harder. Especially once you're past level 18, where tier 3 in most of the interesting Force Powers becomes available, your level becomes pretty much irrelevant. Force Storm clears a room in 2-3 casts whether you're at level 20 or 30. -
re:The Yeti of 66 Perhaps you were expecting some surprise, a secret that had eluded you, something that would change your perspective of events, shatter you to your core? Of course it's still the same game. Apart from the very awesome HK factory (which IMO is considerably better in 1.5 than in 1.4, not that it was bad in 1.4) and a few other major points, most of the changes are indeed minor - but significant, the way a single, small, missing gear is significant to the working of a machine. Adding it doesn't radically change the function or purpose of the machine, it just makes it work. Like how when you enter Malachor, Kreia says that when the Exile enters, "he will be faced with a choice". This made zero sense in the original game, with cut content restored it makes sense. Like when Sion inexplicably turns from threatening to meek upon Kreia's arrival. The cut content restoration does not expand the scene hugely, it's just a few more words and one event, but it didn't make sense before, it does now. I do think some of the content was cut for a reason and restoring it does not necessarily improve the game - in some cases, makes it worse, like the Atris music during the first meeting (thank god that's gone again). And the big Kreia monologue on Dantooine is maybe too long now? But the mod's still very much worth it. Damn it, seeing Goto die is reason enough to get the mod. I so hated that annoying thing.

KoTOR 2 frame buffer effects glitch
Markus Ramikin replied to d4vs's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I turn that option off anyway. Burst of speed doesn't even look good, it was meant to be cool I'm sure but it is just annoying. And seems like itll damage your eyesight if exposed to for long, to me. But, that's my take on it. -
No great revelation. No great secret.
Markus Ramikin replied to Markus Ramikin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You're right, I got confused because I have a restored version of that scene where the first quote comes from... but it exists even in the cut version. Hassat: That may be true, but why is that so important to Kreia? Why does the Exile remain so significant to her after this "revelation"? -

It's at the end of the meeting with the Council on Dantooine, after Kreia drained the Jedi Masters and the Exile is lying on the ground, Kreia speechifies quite a bit there. Quite an awesome scene. -

Actually the first quote is from cut content, but the second one is from a very central conversation is the game and I really don't think that was meant to be cut... -

Sion: Why did you return? Kreia: Because now I understand why the Exile did what she did. Kreia: And that is what I sought to understand. How one could turn away from such power, give up the Force... and still live. But I see what happened now. It is because you were... afraid. (quotes were from memory) What I'm wondering is... 1. How exactly did Kreia mean that, that the Exile did that out of fear? Everything else seems to point out she considered it a sign of strength, that the Exile was able to give up the Force where others were unable to do so. How does the meeting with the Council suddenly convince her that the Exile acted out of fear? 2. Why is this being played upon as a big thing, as if it told Kreia something important she needed to know so she could go ahead with her plans? -
The most idiotic EU invention?
Markus Ramikin replied to Markus Ramikin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Little did I know what I was doing when starting this thread. Yeah, wow is the proper word. Who the hell let these people write Star Wars? It's really good for EU that my adventure with it started with Timothy Zahn's books. I'd have probably never bothered to read 1/10th of what I have read if I had started with that kind of bs. -
Atton's Infinite XP/Influence & PC
Markus Ramikin replied to Tayeron's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
You sure that's in the PC version? I didn't have that option. Not that I'm complaining, never needed that kind of bugs. EDIT: I mean, I did do the "pazaak in the head" conversation, I didn't have the opportunity to exploit it multiple times though. -
prestige class (again...)
Markus Ramikin replied to darth noris's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
As far as I remember, you can't get a prestige class if you're too neutral. Yes, and my point was that the game needs to notice when you cross the 25/75 mark, if you move past it with the editor that doesn't work. That's not exactly true. The only thing Visas-related that is necessary is the movie that introduces her and Nihilus, that happens when you gain a 25/75 alignment. But you don't actually need to come back to your ship and pick her up. She doesn't need to be in your party. For instance my first planet tends to be Dantooine. I get the lightside alignment (if that's what I'm aiming at) already on Citatel Station, then go to Dantooine once I'm done with Telos, and there I get level 15, after the big battle or a little before that. And that's when I talk to Kreia and get the prestige class. I only then come back to the ship and discover Visas there. I suspect the common misconception that you need Visas in your party to get a prestige class may come from people's not getting level 15 on their first planet. If that happens, it is unavoidable that they'll end up returning to the ship and meeting Visas before they can get a prestige class. -
Has it occured to you that a good portion of those bugs were in the original game? For instance the multitude of text issues, typoes, mismatched text to voice... And then when you add material which was never polished off (or it would have been included in the original game), of course it's going to be full of holes, big and small. Honestly, if those 1000ish issues are a problem in your eyes, then just what exactly do you expect from a mod of this scope? As to the virus issue... at this point you're just engaging in FUD. I have no idea why, but that's what it looks like.

prestige class (again...)
Markus Ramikin replied to darth noris's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ah, that's probably because the game keeps recalculating the NPC's alignment based on your alignment and the influence you have with each given NPC. So the actual NPC's alignment is not going to stay the way you artificially edit it. -
prestige class (again...)
Markus Ramikin replied to darth noris's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Weird, I never needed to talk to Visas about her master... in fact I never needed to have met Visas for this, by the time I met her I'd be a lightsaber-wielding Jedi Master of Doom. *blink* The game does mess certain things up if you change your alignment in KSE instead of letting it notice a threshold has been reached while playing it. -
Force Wave is nice, but the thing is Kreia herself is immune to the stun (probably wearing that mind protecting belt like Malak was), and if I remember right it's also saved against by Fortitute so kind of hard to pull off. That particular skill is actually more useful at level 2: Force Whirlwind. That's a "stun" effect that lasts longer and can't be saved against. Also, once whirling, the target's Reflex drops which means it's easy to just keep someone in the air until they die, Kreia can be brought down like that. Pity you can't choose to use previous versions of the same Force power, like computer-controlled characters can, so one could use Wave on masses of enemies and Whirlwind on bosses. Kreia's sabers are susceptible to Horror, they have low Will. I know, it doesn't make any sort of sense. I didn't make this game. Oh and Force Crush still allows some use of Force by the target, and if enemies in K2 weren't even dumber than the ones in K1, maybe Kreia would use Immunity once in a while. (Why did that go away? I loved how bosses in K1 started every fight with Immunity.)

Actually nvm, my thinking is too Consular-centric . Though of course as a nonconsular you shouldn't be trying to defeat Kreia with Force Powers...

coughArrenKaecough Now, I certainly never said that... Now that was exactly what I was thinking of. That list of pics from the game packs a far greater punch than anything you could do in words, by writing it out as a theory. Hey, you're not implying you're Scorchy, are you?
