  1. I was just looking for the patch. Do you happen to have a link to get the download? Others are having similar problems.
  2. My girlfriend who is also into this game came over last night, and she brought me the "Storm of Zheir". What a vixen. I set up my characters, left the ship, and fought through three of the creature waves on the island. You know what happened when the following wave hit? The game crashed. Hahaha... I have one of the top of the line computers to date, and everything was working fine when I had Neverwinter II and MOB installed. Hahaha... Right when the last enemy wave of creatures attacked, the game crashed down to the desktop. I repeated the same steps over, and again the game crashed. Rewind time back to when I bought MOB, and that game broke the core game's campaigns. I can't win with this series. Two expansion packs installed right out of the box, and they both have issues that stop game play. I had to patch the game to fix MOB's issues, and now I will have to wait for a patch to fix SOZ's issues.
  3. I have 100+ pc games in my library, and only those from Obsidian require a patch to play. Every single pc game that I have bought since the 1980s works straight out of the box without a patch. What you are saying is bull. People should be able to get a functioning game from the store, and it should be able to work right after its installed. Period. I can see a patch for small tweaks and fixes, but to need one right after its purchase is bull. Period. People like you let companies walk all over them. I call that rolling over. Maybe the BBB needs to take a close look at Obsidian's comsumer policies.
  4. J. E. Sawyer, I know this may be late, but thank you for sharing this with us. Your post was very insightful.
  5. As you noted in a post earlier in this thread, there is a first-day patch available already. Simply install, run the autopatcher, and you should be good to go. The SOZ disc has the patch history in its install, so if you install SOZ, then your MOB installation should be brought up to date with the most recent major patch, even if you don't run the first-day patch for SOZ. But it's always advisable to patch when possible, obviously, especially if you want to play multiplayer. Here is the conundrum. I don't have that particular computer attatched to the internet, so downloading the patch through the updater is not possible. Any suggestions?
  6. I have an interesting question. Most of the games I buy don't need patches, but in order for me to use Neverwinter II: MOB I need one. I can't play the game straight out of the box without patching it. Will this happen to this expansion as well? How will it work when I have all three installed, and it is required for me to patch the game so the original campegin will work with MOB? Will the new expansion come with the fixes, or would I still need to patch it?
  7. I thought this game would mirror the originals. Its good that I came in here to get more information. F.Y.I. - I work for a movie company, but I'm not seen on the big screen. Nice guess.
  8. And how is that Obsidian's fault and not yours? If you go back to how things played out here, the comment that was originally stated came off smug. Obsidian may have a flaw in how information is flowed to the public, and they can control that on the other side of the marketing schema. Overwhelming fans with information makes them shutdown. Mr. Rorie shouldn't have made the assumption that his campeign actually worked affectively. I'm not going to remember every detail or read every article. I have a life. He made a bad assumption. Its over now.
  9. Are you pissed or something? Not every fan of Obsidian's reads all the articles. I want an apology. How about a chill pill? It's not like they've made a secret of what the game was about. Actually, it feels like we've been hit over the head with a sledgehammer about it (as in just about every single preview, interview, prerelease review and forums). What happened to me was that all the information turned into white noise. Since there was so much information being thrown at me, I stopped paying attention to all of the details, interviews, and articles. Maybe there is a flaw in overwhelming the fanbase with so much information. People stop paying attention.
  10. Edit - I didn't see your above post. Just leave out 'in my opinion'. Its used in reference to make a smug attack. Apology is accepted. You guys shouldn't expect all of the fans to read or memorize every detail. Thanks for the apology.
  11. I don't remember. Can anyone else confirm this? We've consistently used Icewind Dale as a comparison for the game, along with Fallout and Darklands and a few other inspirations, although we've never said it would be devoid of dialogue (there's still a decent amount of VO in the game, just not for every single conversation option from every party member). The focus here is on Full Party Creation with fewer companions to bring along for the ride (although you can still find over 10 of those as you play). Dialogue is intended to propel your adventure, and the game is well-written, but SOZ is really about adventuring and seeking out fortune and glory instead of talking to an NPC for ten solid minutes. We've been pretty up front about that, in my opinion. You can find some player impressions on the official forums, in threads like this and this, or at GameSpot, and I hear there are a bunch over at RPG Codex. Relevant quote with respect to the comments above: As with any RPG, SOZ is not going to be all things to all players, but we're pretty excited about the way it turned out and it looks like most of the people who have posted impressions have been pretty positive about it. Thanks for the links. I will read through them. "We've been pretty up front about that, in my opinion." Are you pissed or something? Not every fan of Obsidian's reads all the articles. I want an apology.
  12. Good deal. Maybe I will get it this week. I'm hoping to get some insight from other players. Neverwinter II's original campeigns and first expansion were very entertaining, so I'm hoping for a repeate in new experiences and such.
  13. I don't remember. Can anyone else confirm this?
  14. I have already read some gammer reviews, and it doesn't look like anyone is raving. It may be a little too early. Most people said the expansion is interesting, but they feel a void in companion dialogue and interaction. I hope someone gives a more indepth examination. There is already a patch for the game. They don't learn. Some people are angry at the random monster attacks. Some people are angry at the lack of companion depth. Some have reported that they are angry with the game not being ready, and it needs a patch on first run. I don't know what is true or not. I hope someone can give us a good review at some point.
  15. I consider $29.99 the cost of a full game. Since I only buy pc games, I usually see $29.99 as a good base price. Expansion packs should be around $19.99 for starter, and then they should drop over time to $9.99. Full version games should start at $29.99, and then they should drop over time to $19.99. Obsidian and Atari should have considered the issues that some players had from installing NWN2's first expansion. I won't change from that thinking. They will be lucky to get $19.99 from me.
  16. It the price of a full game, so I'm going to hold off until it hits $19.99. After the last conundrum I had with the first expansion, I'm going to wait and see what other players have to say. $29.99 is not a good deal after the technical issues I had with the original expansion pack. I'm glade to see it released, but I'm saddened by the price it has arrived with. I'm looking forward to gammer reviews.
  17. You know what? I do not even care anymore. "Team-Gizka" does not matter anymore. Huh... I hit a mild stone in thought. Who really cares. While people are in here treating this thing like the second coming, I'm going out to the real world where things matter the most. "Team-Gizka" is a collective of game players who have absolutely no bearing on my life. I got trapped in their web of obsessiveness, and now its time to open a new book. Huh... They are a bunch of whinny fans who disliked the current version of "The Sith Lords", so they have taken this whole thing into a new realm of obsessiveness. Huh... Good luck dealing with those issues. I can not believe I got caught up in their obsession. Go figure. They need years of mental help. I heard Obsidian's "Neverwinter Nights 2"'s expansion is almost ready for release. Go Obsidian!
  18. This doesn't drive any type of nail into anything. I wasn't talking about the mod's legality through Lucas Arts or Obsidian's eyes. You seem to have misunderstood where I was coming from, but I'm not going to go back over all those posts. I have seen several comments on this site and their forums to believe they and their fans are big headed. That is not going to change in my opinion. I see a fineline between being a simple modder and a ego stroking modder. I'm not necessarily saying the whole project should end, but I'm saying that Team-Gizka's big headed attitude will not win anyone over. My other questions were legit in another way. Should modder's hold themselves responsible for going too far? Where does obsessiveness end and realism begin? How far is any game developer going to allow modder's (such in scale as Team-Gizka) to ride on the back's of their work? I don't think modding groups this massive will exist in the future. BioWare's revelation about turning the KotOR franchise into a MMO will bring an end to this type of hijacking. The Restoration Project is way too big in scale and notability for my taste, and I do not see myself and others I know applying to Obsidian if its allowed in the future. Its a double-edged sword. Protect the developers and artists, or people will just walk away. Small scale modding is fine, but this is just way too big.
  19. What you are basically saying is, "Oh my god! Obsidian keeps selling broken games, and I keep buying them knowing they are broken. Save us Team-Gizka! Save us!" If you personally believe that Obsidian makes broken games (and you keep buying them), you have no one else except for yourself to blame. That would also mean that "Team-Gizka" exists as a form of punishment impossed by the community onto Obsidian. I would close this thread down rather quickly, for it would be considered a "Sith Lords" bashing thread. I have no idea what you just said. I'm not blaming them of a criminal act, but more of acting in a illresponsible manner. They allow themselves to become big headed, and to hijack another person's hardwork. Sorry Mr. Moderator. I didn't see your post while replying. I had the advanced reply screen up. I will keep things cooled down on my behalf.
  20. This has nothing to do with pride. It has to do with someone hijacking from someone else's name and work. It becomes a question of principle. What type of limitations should modders be held responsible for, and to what extent are they allowed to profit from being noticed. We have a modyfing group that has; a. opened threads on multiple game forum boards, b. opened a website towards pushing their efforts, c. created video clips to advertise their work, d. created a logo that will sit next to Obsidians' and Lucas Art's logos, e. altered extensive files way beyond 10% of the game, and f. partaken in gamesite interviews. They should have said, "Stop! Slow down people." They did not stop themselves, nor did they practice any type of restraint. They became big headed and allowed things to become large scale. They are not being responsible. People think "The Sith Lords" and the first things that comes to mind is "Team-Gizka". That is hijacking. Its no longer a Obsidian and Lucas Arts game. "The Sith Lords" is a Obsidian, Lucas Arts, and Team-Gizka game. They are getting famous off of someone else. Another set of questions :: How much of the game are modders allowed to change without it getting out of hand? What is Obsidian doing to protect the integrity of their developers and artists? How do they prevent large scale third parties from hijacking their titles? What are they doing public to secure the products that belong to their clients, so that another group cannot get famous off of their client's work?
  21. So, you're oky with hijacking someone's hardwork to gain notability? I don't hate Team-Gizka for being modders, but I do have a problem with them hijacking someone's property. Obsidian and Lucas Arts have granted fans with the rights to modify game elements, but did they give us a right to become famous for it? You focused only on their website, but you are only narrowing on a small piece. Example :: You create a website of your own, and someone else comes around and take's your images (or work). They say, "These look unfinished, so we are going to fix them." They end up opening a website, several forum threads, take some interviews, and then open a forum of their own. They even create a logo that will now be placed on your images, and they make video clips of the work they are doing. All the hard work you put into those pictures is being hijack by another person. Suddenly, when people say, "Darth Windu's pictures", the first thing that comes to mind is, "That guy who is finishing them". Your name has become hijacked by another individual, and they are getting famous for your hardwork. Yes, you may let people do modifications, but do you really want them to become famous for your work? People will be talking about how Darth Windu didn't finish his images, and how great the second party is for finishing them. Does that seem right to you? If you can answer 'yes' to the above, there is something seriously wrong. Small modifications are pretty respectable, but Team-Gizka's level of modifications and notibility is wrong. Obsidian is a great hardworking company, and they should be asking themselves, "Do we really want people to hijack our client's product, so they can become famous for something that doesn't belong to them? Are we in a position to allow this type of hijacking to continue, and to allow them the freedom to get famous off of our client's product?" Right at this very moment, this thread is sending a message. People may not like it, but it is sending a clear message. You go to school for game designing, you get a degree in game designing, you work for our company, so that fans can hijack your work to get famous off of it. That bites! Why would I want to work for a company who would allow outsiders to gain prestege off of my education and work. I put long hours and money into gaining an education, to look for a job, to work on a game, so that someone like Team-Gizka can get famous off of my work. That blows. Why in the world would I want to work for a company that allows Team-Gizka's level of modifications and notibility? Obsidian is becoming established under their new name, but their first game as one company has become hijacked by Team-Gizka. That stinks. Before anyone races to defend them, I want you to thinks about your replay for a minute. Reread this post carefully. How would you feel if it happened to you?
  22. I love the ysalamiri addition to Star Wars, and I also loved Bane's Thought Bomb. I don't like anything involved with The New Jedi Order series. NJO was a tough story for me to get into.
  23. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 1 Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 I just started to play both games, and the first is hard as hell. I'm playing the game at medium, and I'm having trouble getting passed the fourth level. What a tough game.
  24. So, what about that website? What about the forums? What about the gamesite interviews? What about the various threads in multiple game forums? Nope, Team-Gizka is not big headed. Calling someone big-headed has nothing to do with forcing people into anything. It has to do with big egos. Team-Gizka, "We are the saviors of The Sith Lords". Team-Gizka, "We're here for yeah. We will save you!" Messiah complex? "The Sith Lords" is just fine the way it is, and no one should hijack a game title to get famous.
  25. How about the next time you post, you don't do so out of ignorance? TG NEVER big-noted themselves, never forced people to find out about the cut content, never forced people to get excited about the mod. They are doing what they are doing because they want to - nothing more, nothing less. This is a giant project that no-one else has even attempted, let alone getting as far as TG has. Frankly if you want to have a go at people for doing what they like for the simple reason that YOU have some issue with others being more popular than you, then go right ahead. I on the other hand have a great deal of respect for TG for taking on the project and delivering (at least soon) a product that will provide for a complete TSL experience, an experience that OE wanted to give us but were prevented from doing so by LA. Cry me a river. Team-Gizka are not that special. Obsidian wanted fans to enjoy "The Sith Lords" as it was released. People began complaining about the game, and then Obsidian allowed people to modify the missing content. Pfft.
