Precisely what happened with RE4 PC version. I remember reading it was outsourced to some unknown chinese firm and the end result didn't support mouse controls or bloom effects.

Vanilla Oblivion feels like it hasn't progressed any farther than Alpha development stage, I'm actually surprised a build watermark isn't present on screen. But mods truly are its saving grace.
