  1. Some of us just play slow.
  2. Same with any intelligence, doesn't mean you don't collect intelligence. US has been successful using coercive interrogations, what you would term torture. Also I remember some Russians were kidnapped in Lebanon. The KGB sent the kidnapper's balls to his family. No Russians were kidnapped again.
  3. Berlusconi is the only man left in Europe.
  4. I thought the writing itself was pretty good quality, but the overall design was terrible and stale. Not sure it was just the writers responsible for the design, or it was a horse designed by a committee.
  5. There are tons of unnecessary voice acting, long, boring conversations with every Tom, ****, and Harry, party members whining about their childhoods, party banter, etc. Take a few of the most interesting entries from the Codex, some of the boring voice acting, part of the unending dungeons and combat, and make a few really interesting quests about the setting, instead of just having to read about it.
  6. As much as I rate your college level experience of torture, I have to say you have no idea what you are talking about. I mentioned the torture thing to a friend of mine who worked with the ANC in South Africa and he said that yes, people break under torture, but breaking and providing useful timely information are completely different things. Did you even read the link? Interrogation is a process, not a magic bullet. You check and cross check everything, just as with any other source of info. Intelligence work is by nature unreliable, witness all the CIA blunders. Doesn't mean it's never useful.
  7. I think it was slowed down some, but not completely put on hold. For instance, the writers were always there it seems. But yeah, what the hell were they doing for six years (actually there's almost infinite amount of rumours and party banter you can prompt, so that must be where all the efforts went).
  8. No, a good RPG will mix it up with non-combat gameplay and some variety. DAO only gets worse btw.
  9. There is no worse written story than Star Wars, yet both KOTOR's were great.
  10. At least it's not being made by EA Hopefully it'll be a fairly off-beat game instead of a generic cash-in.
  11. Of course torture works, if it didn't no one would use it. http://pajamasmedia.com/richardfernandez/2...-moral-torture/
  12. Or in the main storyline.
  13. Next time I suggest you invite him for tea and crumpets, old chap.
  14. I think it forces you to go retail, and deal with a third party instead of direct.
  15. Something about them not liking to pay in dollars.
  16. That's not really a publisher, that's digital distribution and it's not exclusive, unlike a publisher. Don't know what their plans are wrt to that, but would make a lot of sense, especially if they could do a promotion at some point.
  17. I don't think publishers would be willing to finance a small indie studio. So for them, the publisher mostly would provide retail and may be some advertisement.
  18. You can in Texas
  19. I think one of the problems was that if you go retail, you have to price downloads the same as retail, which would increase the download price since the cost of retail is a lot more. Another issue is retail is doing fewer and fewer PC games, so the benefits are much smaller than they used to be. There're probably others, but I don't know.
  20. Actually they've had lots of interest from publishers, but the strings attached make it not worthwhile. They might still get a publisher for Eastern Europe, since the distribution model there is different.
  21. I wonder how they fly on airplanes?
  22. You what? Why would anyone donate to a video game company? You show support by buying their game, hell buy it twice if your obsessed, but donate? What? They're asking for donations to help them advertise the game, so that it has a better chance to be successful and thus enable them to make more games. Of course if you're happy with the mainstream crap, there's no reason to be concerned about it.
  23. You mean two cinematic-storyteller franchises, but one has longer dungeons.
  24. An interesting interview about the Lovecraftian game Iron Tower is also working on: http://www.criticalgamer.co.uk/2010/02/08/...udio-interview/
