  1. Nothing wrong with bringing a little balance, education has been skewed to the left for like forever. If someone goes too far in pushing creationism, etc, they tend to lose elections, even in conservative districts. I suspect Dunbar may be in trouble in the next election over Jefferson.
  2. "fact check" about the healthcare bill: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100323/ap_on_...GVhbHRoY2FyZWZh
  3. I think I'm the only one here that will actually be taxed under this program to support all you bastards.
  4. Pretty much everything used as proof of global warming has now been discredited, the warmists really don't have a leg left to stand on.
  5. How will I participate in the upcoming socialist revolution in the United States if I'm in Cuba? Think before you post. The problem with a socialist revolution in the US is that everyone is heavily armed, and the right wingers would kick your scrawny commie asses anyway.
  6. Why the hell aren't you in Cuba yet?
  7. I wonder if a due process argument can be made here. You're being fined without being convicted of anything, thus your due process rights are violated. Tenth Amendment is dead because of the abuse of the Commerce Clause, but due process is very much alive and is ever being expanded.
  8. We should sit on the rest of you.
  9. I don't know where you're getting the idea that this legislation would involve the government in purchasing medical care. It relaxes the standards for people to qualify for Medicaid somewhat, and sets up exchanges that people can use to pool risk and negotiate with private insurers to cover all of them, but doesn't actually set up new programs for federal purchasing of medical care and services. The exchanges will be overseen by the government, and government is "purchasing" in a way as they are subsidizing premiums. IMO, to achieve cost control there will have to be rationing, either through this bill or in future bill. As far as spending, we're so far underwater already this is like adding a tea cup to a pool. From the link I posted earlier.
  10. So the penalty for not having medical is also an income tax, it's not like they throw you in prison. Really not so different from having to pay a lot more tax if you don't have a mortgage. The Feds can do whatever they want, it's settled law. I think it's unlikely a costitutional challenge will succeed.
  11. Here's a summary of what's in the bill: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/A-look-at-th...set=&ccode= How is that different from requiring everyone to participate in Social Security? Federalism has been dead since FDR.
  12. Bad Company 2 SP. Pretty fun game so far.
  13. You have to say "Everyone's out for themselves" after his sister quest ends. Which is particularly logical since you yourself are running around risking you own life trying to save everyone's ass.
  14. That is why Bioware is the King of RPG's.
  15. Khomeini said "We don't care about Iran, let Iran burn so long as Islam wins".
  16. First review out for Metro 2033: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/artic...CVG-General-RSS Sounds good if true.
  17. I brought up the dictionary definition because you seemed to be assuming the word nihilism can only apply to the philosophy, so I demonstrated it has other meanings. Good thing I didn't say 'utilitarian'.
  18. Just add "characterized by". So someone who's nihilistic would have destructive tendencies to himself and others, or in the case of my post, would have the view of the human life and morals as being worthy of destruction. Notice also I didn't use the exact dictionary definition, but a general sense of what the word means in normal usage. The point being I was not referring to the name of the philosophy, the tenets of which I'm not particularly familiar with.
  19. He is, indeed, the only man left in Europe. Yeah, did you check out his gallery of women in that article?
  20. what you said was: "Usually I consider something dark if it has a cynical or nihilistic view of the human condition." definition 3 actually works less in such a case. you bring up definition of nihilism (n.). now make into and adjective modifying "view"... more specific, "view of the human condition." a noun describing a destructive impulse not work so well as an adjective modifying a view of human the human condition. well, no biggie. your mistake results in a little enlightenment for you and others. Nietzsche would be pleased. HA! Good Fun! So you're complaining I gave the definition for a noun when I originally used an adjective? ****ing lawyers.
  21. I mostly meant definition 3, since I also said cynical. Don't care much for philosophy anyway.
