Recent Isareli military action in Gaza
Morgoth replied to Killian Kalthorne's topic in Way Off-Topic
"Far from improving its international image, Israel is now viewed by much of the world as a blood thirsty state." No, certainly not. Israel is pretty much the only stable pro-Western democracy that the Middle-Eastern has. Of course it does reap a lot hate and jealousliness from it's surrounding neighbours for that, but saying it's delibaretly blood-thirsty is silly. War is never pretty, and difficult circumstances make warfare sometimes "illegal" (i.e. using phosphor weapons). But in the end they have the right to exist, and also the will to co-exist, if there wouldn't always be morons blowing busses and cafes up. -
Here are my official complaints about the demo: -Glowing enemies in SloMo mode. I mean WTF? First, it looks worse than in FEAR, second why do they glow yellow? They better provide a patch where I can turn that off. -Grain filter. It's one of the betters (It's really only very fine), but still I miss an option where I can turn it off completely. -Don't like the zoom. I want that from FEAR back(where it doesn't always look through the scope). Crawling slowly through the levels in the old mode is more fun than running straight through. -Too easy. Waaaaaay to easy. I "tested" the AI, and it's actually really good, even more sophisticated than in FEAR, but man, they shoot like crap. They never hit me, that's why the battles are so easy and quickly over. I hope this was only a demo thing, and I get some real fights in the full version. Combat, after all, is the pudding that makes FEAR. -slim letter boxes despite using a WS. Nothing that really bothers me, it's just unusual that they don't support real 16:10. -No Quicksaving. Bleh. Again, this is a console thing. But even console versions of Orange Box and Bioshock support quicksaving. -Strange hitch-ups. Is this performance related, or are these just savepoints? Anyway, it's annoying. Performance otherwise is great. -Did I meantion the fights are too easy? Otherwise, it's really great. Don't miss the leaning. Never used that in FEAR either. Leaning is gay. So, I think it's still a blast to play. Who else is picking it up at day one?

Yeah, the Mech part was fun, albeit a bit short. Shogo 2 would be welcome, too. Anyway, I thought the demo was great. Just play it on Hard and don't use SlowMo, otherwise it's too easy.

I think there's not really that much to expect from a FPS in the first place. I suppose Colonial Marines will be a tasty "snack", but the RPG will be a delicious meal. And I agree about the release: Probably Q1 2010 to avoid the busy Hollydays business.

Cool. Looking forward to that advetisment push, whenever that will be.

FEAR 2 demo.
-
It looks great, it sounds great, it runs great, it plays great. It's too easy though, otherwise I got what I'd expect from a demo. No more, no less. I'm picking that one up at release.
-
Apparently the FEAR2 demo has already been released, here and here. Gonna download it once I get home.

New site is up: http://www.whatisfear.com/ And 1 day to go for the demo.

I just learned that "I Am Alive" gets released this March. That's pretty soon, considering that we basically still know nothing about it. A trailer from E3 2008, some screenshots, nothing else. I'll keep an eye on that.

If a couple homosexuals really have that strong feeling to join a life-long partnership, then yeah, I guess marriage should be legitimatized.

Tabla Rosa is free until end of February
Morgoth replied to Maria Caliban's topic in Computer and Console
Tabula Rasa....hmm. Is it that game where it says "Richard Garriots Tabula Rasa" albeit he wasn't involved in development at all? -

I stopped playing after Chapter 3, because there was just no point for me to spend more time on it. How lucky I only tried a copy from a friend.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW DAWN OF WAR 2 FOOTAGE
Morgoth replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I'm wondering how the single player campaign turns out. If it is some soulless Dark Crusade patch-fest, then I'm passing. -
Donald Sutherland is also an Awesome dude if you ask me.
-
Yeah, then let's just make NOLF 3 then. Monolith?

Hmmm, I know a number of atheists and many of them give to charities and volunteer their time for good causes. They just do so with groups that don't have anything to do with religion. Yeah. I do give some bums a coin or two sometimes as well. But not in the name of god. But because....I'm a good man.
-
Sorry man - but the thought of that made me laugh out loud.. Lol. It's really hilarious on it's own. Some stuff is very good translated, other stuff is B-movie corniness pure. I especially liked when Benezia died, she literally said "Ughh".
-
It's not all about scary stuff. And I think the mech sections aren't meant to be scary, they're meant to blow stuff up. Anyway, I remain sceptical myself. I'm gonna wait for the demo, but I'm afraid it probably will be so short that I'm left no smarter than before.

Planescape's 10 year anniversary...
Morgoth replied to Sargallath Abraxium's topic in Computer and Console
The problem with most action RPGs isn't the setting, but the horrible gameplay. Just look at Too Human for example, the setting had promise, but the gameplay destroyed it. I'm holding out for Diablo 3. Huh? I always thought the top-down clicky-clicky stuff is horrible gameplay. There's nothing else I can do. I do agree however that TH is some dumbed down bat-****. It's the execution that matters, in the end. So what did you mean by action RPG then? For me it's Diablo 1/2 and Titan Quest style games. Do you mean Oblivion/Fallout 3 style stuff? The top-down clicky-clicky stuff was fun because of all the cool powers and items you had. It is also really fun when you play it co-op. Nah, Diablo is a genre on it's own. I'd call that "Hack & Slash RPG". Action RPG is pretty much everything that let me aim stuff on my own (Bloodlines, Fallout 3, Mass Effect). Then there's that beat'em up RPG Jade Empire. And then there're the "only" RPGs like Kotor, BG, IWD, Fallout etc. Yeah I know, this probably is all silly anyway. -

I personally don't believe in god, but I don't feel the urge to advertise that either. And hey, at least the church spends bums a warm soup, Atheists don't. My religion btw is Beer, Schnitzel and woman. *snort*
