No it isn't. When something is mine, and I decide to get rid of it, I wanna be able be to get rid of it. That's a minefield, I'm not getting into it. Nah, I'm not trying to get a flamewar started about what's right and what not. I just want to know how often a retail copy can be activated over Steam (i presume only once?). With Mass Effect, you could activated it 3 or 5 (?) times, thus still not preventing some second hand dealing. So in that case, Steamworks should be super-proof, right?

So, more and more retail games like Saint's Row 2 and soon DoW2 require you to install Steam and use a key that needs to be registered on your Steam account in order to play your game. This is great because you don't have to need your DVD in your drive, and once registered you can also download the client just in case your dog eats the disk. And as opposed to Mass Effect, you don't have any installation limits or need the disc inserted every 10 days or so. HOWEVER, this also means that I can't sell my copy anymore because the buyer wouldn't be able to use the copy/key anymore, right? (unlike Mass Effect) So this basically eliminates the second-hand market, or can a Steamwork key be activated over several accounts? Just asking because then it doesn't really make any difference to buy DoW2 on Steam vs. getting the retail copy.

Dead Space was dead boring.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW DAWN OF WAR 2 FOOTAGE
Morgoth replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
The AI is weird. The Tyrranid lord just circles through all victory points, always killing mine while I kill his. But once my Mekkaboy starts building turrets there, they avoid it like the plague despite having enough firepower to wipe it out. Then they desperately try to destroy my HQ, which obviously is a stupid idea, so that leaves me the whole time free to capture the remaining targets over the whole map. So it's not seldom that I manage do defeat my foe despite still having 500 points on my account. Funny enough, when I play the Tyrriads against Space Marines, I get easily pwned if I'm too sloppy. Does anyone know how long the singleplayer campaign will be? -
Soulstorm DoW2 beta

Boy, I already got the demo a month ago. And I'm not really sold on what I've seen. The African scenario just sucks... but Sheva has nice...curves.

The AI is FEAR2 is superb, it's just that they're not showing that in being very offensive. That's why it's baby-easy. Console gamers would otherwise get owned. But there's still hope the full version is more challenging.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW DAWN OF WAR 2 FOOTAGE
Morgoth replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
I like the basic mechanic behind DOW2 more than the predecessor. It's faster, more stressy, more tactical, and that's good. Though I agree the AI can be easily beat at normal, I haven't played with hard yet. And I always got owned when playing with the Tyriads, that's why I prefer to stick with my boyz. I'm probably picking this one up at release, as I think Halo Wars will suck anyway. -

I could just beta key your face! -
Civil War. Oh the irony.... Because the whole point about the EU was to be a peace project in the first place... And I agree with Meshugger 100% about his former post. Trying to melt European countries together to a soulless multi-kulti pudding with no individual identity anymore that is run by industrialists and lobbies will just weaken Europe, and will only cause additional braindrain into Canada, USA and Australia.

BREAKING NEWS: NEW DAWN OF WAR 2 FOOTAGE

I just straightforward bought Soulstorm for a laughable 3,75 -
I recently continued to play a bit Eternal Darkness (now with the 18th century guy), and boy, this game really messes around with me. When saving, suddenly it tells me "all savegames being deleted now", and I thought WTF???? Until I remember "oh, this is a feature" *facepalm*

BREAKING NEWS: NEW DAWN OF WAR 2 FOOTAGE
Morgoth replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
So, anybody already got into the Beta and wants to share some impressions? Is it true that there's no base building, micromanagement and you can only have a dozen peeps around you? Oh, and... orks Orgs -
Two reasons I observed why the demo was so easy is 1) the bad guys seem to be half-blind. When I crawl up and out of that bus, the bad guys don't seem to see me, until I approach nearer. In Fear1, they immediately started shooting, even from very far away. 2) They can't aim. They shoot, but not very fiercely, and they don't seem to hit you very often. I presume it's the result of focus testing, when they just observed Johnny Miller how he got always pwnd, hence they adjusted the AI.

Yeah, I read this this morning. Horrible. Just imagine, you have a nice chat with someone, and a second later, out of nowhere, your chat partner gets her head cut off. SICK!

Click Goddamn really, how ****ed up does someone has to be to start aimlessly stab at infants??? It's really getting at me. My sister just brought a child a few months ago to world and man, what a cute little sweet thing. Thinking of psychic **** that just start stabbing cute little sweet things really pisses me off. That's the sort of thing why I think death penalty should be legitimated again. This world is sick.

Well, that's what you get for being a STALKER fan!

Mostly I'm just reacting to your assertion that removing options from a game makes it better in some way. You may not like leaning, but other people might? No? You think? Maybe? I said I don't care about leaning, and don't understand people that can get angry about the lack of. Get over it, leaning may be important in Thief, but it's useless in a fast-paced FPS. Well, I disagree that removing features is ever a good thing, but whatever. Obviously this one doesn't bother you, so you don't care. Fine then. We will call it a day. FEAR 2 has been developed for consoles from ground up. Usually, you don't have leaning for console games mostly because of the lack of buttons. So why do you think they should bother building leaning in extra for the PC? Development doesn't work that way.
-
Right. That must be because I said coding was easy. Of wait, I didn't, did I? What I said was that if I pay money for a product that product should work. If it doesn't, which does happen sometimes, I should be able to get my money back and buy a different product. Yeah, so? You behave like PC games these days destroy your computer upon installation. Those times are over, in fact the standards have become a lot better. Remember the 90's with their crappy and buggy games? PoR for starters? Seriously, I haven't tracked down a single modern games that I think isn't worth the money due to bugs. Quality (content, story) is a different matter.

CrashGirl thinks coding for games is as easy as eating pancake. You should be glad you even get PC games these days.

Wow, do you have your period again or what?
-
"No, running is gay. Why put it in a game at all?" Uh, because I'd get a bit inpatient if I had to crawl the whole time through the levels? "Quicksave? Why do you care? You just said it was too easy? Actually you said it was "waaaaaay to easy" to be precise." I don't like auto savepoints, because saving is a freedom I should have. "ALso, out of curiosity, why did you quicksave in Bioshock? You couldn't die." No, but it's fast way to save you game that you later want to continue, stupid.

Piracy was there before DRM emerged. I think the point why so many people pirate these days is 1) Different release dates. If you want a game badly, but have to wait severel more months or a year until it gets released in your country (i.e. Russia), then you pirate it 2) It's easy. Get the torrent, click start, wait. Wow, that was easy. 3) Most games not worth the full prize anyway. That's why I restrict myself only to the best titles. Buying them, finsihing them, selling them immediately back. Exceptions are Blizzard, Bioware and other games where I usually keep the copy for more playthroughs. Other titles that look interesting, but are most probably average have to wait 6-12 months until they can be bought cheaply off ebay.
