Mirror's Edge
Yes. The gameplay is unique, and I personally find it fun. Story is decent enough so far. Nice graphics. What exactly was so unique about the gameplay. It was just a stripped down FPS. It was all about getting chased by helicopters and mercenaries, that's it. Run run run jump reload. meh. Portal was also just a stripped down FPS. Portal actually required the played to think and let him play with his own pace, unlike ME, which was most of the time on rails.

DRM?
First, valve will never go under. They're just too succesful. Secondly, Blizzard only released no-cd patches some 5 years after release. You can't expect Sega to release AP without any copy protection means.

Mirror's Edge
1 million units is not at all solid when you're expecting to sell 3 million. EA would've done their books expecting 3 million, which essentially means the game was a loss. Feargus could explain it better. In fact, I believe he did here. Publishers always dream of buckets of money. They always expect too much, because they're selfish and greedy. I'm sure 1 million sold units still made a nice profit for them. Heck, stupid Activision thinks they're gonna sell 11 million units of Modern Warfare 2 in 2 months. They should keep their feeds on the rug those idiots.

Mirror's Edge
Yes it did. You had to activate it online, you had to type in a serial key, you had to have a Securom check periodically or the game would crash, and if you installed it on more than 5 machines it'd call you a pirate. Funny, I remeber I didn't even had to have the disc inserted afterwards, or activate it online, or anything. Maybe I'm wrong, or perhaps they added that only in the Australian version. Like I care now.

Mirror's Edge
ME sold a solid 1 million units, and it didn't utilize any DRM. Overall, boring game. Running, jumping, running...meh.

DRM?
Hmm, it's going to be the PC version for me, no matter what DRM will be used. But I presume it will be Steam, since Sega also used that on Empire as well.

Splinter Cell Conviction vs Alpha Protocol
+1

Age of Decadence
Considering the limitations of the engine and considering that this is the first project of an indie developer, I think it looks very solid. Making 3D art that looks great takes years of practice to develop.

Gameplay Video findings
Aren't you confusing Swedes and Germans? No, the German beauty-ideal is also blonde. Not sure if it still is, as what is "ideal" always changes.

We need a Star Trek RPG
I think Krezzy meant CRPG...

Splinter Cell Conviction vs Alpha Protocol
"both being stealth shooters from a 3rd person perspective, both being released in fall 09", and i'd class the difference in end results from independent game developers and huge game factories as being a judgement call, PoP and AC were two of the most popular and well received games in recent years, and while i didn't enjoy either of them i respect what they did in terms of gameplay and story, i'd go so far as to say that both were experimental, something you wouldn't have seen from one of the giant publishers/developers 5 years ago Just so you don't get me wrong. PoP and AC are incredible achievements, especially in the art department. But ultimately when it comes to gameplay and story, Obsidian will clearly win.

FO: NV
First time I hear of Fenstermaker. Apart from the funny name ("Windowsmaker"), what does he contribute to FO:V?

Who actually does own the Babylon 5 license currently? And the Space Above and Beyond license btw?
-
Splinter Cell Conviction vs Alpha Protocol
All Ubisoft Montreal titles were mediocre at best, including the latest PoP and AC. So why would magically the new Splinter Cell be a competitor for AP? Seriously, Independent game development always produces better results than huge game factories.

NWN3 will be actually a MMO
Sounds atrocious indeed. Let's just hope Obsidian sticks with either 3/3.5E, or make their own thing.

NWN2 problem
Laptop + serious gaming = almost always bad.

Feargus Urquhart interview at GameBanshee
The question is, will it be more traditional a'la Dragon Age (bad), or will it push the genre forward?

E3 developer walkthrough video
This game can't possibly be "break". It's all pure WIN what we have already seen. And with Avellone at the helm, I know for sure that story and characters will be top-notch.

Gameplay Video findings
I wouldn't know where to begin with how Obsidian will pull of a female German mercenary. That's a first one. Surely not stereotypical, except the hair color.

NWN3 will be actually a MMO
Sorry for the somewhat OT intrusion, but what the heck is so bad about 4E? I've no knowledge about it, so please clarify.

Wii games advice
Not yet, but I think I'm gonna hunt that down on ebay.

Where's our Episode 3, Valve?
I wonder why Valve just haven't "bought" the yet and make a commercial release with it. Or at least release it stand-alone and charge for it. It would only make sense for such an ambitious mod.
-
Where's our Episode 3, Valve?
When does Black Mesa come out btw? That should give me a temporarily HL fix until Ep3 comes out.
-
Where's our Episode 3, Valve?
Yeah it has been confirmed by Valve that HL won't end after Ep3.
