With the exception of a few low quantity items, Black Friday et. al. sales are pretty much a known joke in retail at this point.

Given that it's been over six months now, I guess it's a little optimistic to expect that to change.

Have they still not patched Nier on PC yet? Pretty crappy if they haven't.

​ The ​Wolfe Tones were one of my dad's favorite bands, and he introduced me to them when I was a kid. There was a particular song he had me listen to, the Four Seasons, about the turning of the seasons and time running out and being forgotten. I liked the song, but didn't really have much appreciation for the band itself. I gave them another chance recently, and discovered some more songs I like by them, and I had planned to send him the song near his birthday earlier this year but decided against it for a couple of reasons. Still feel crappy that I never sent it to him before he killed himself. Don't think it would've changed anything, but it still is just a crappy thing.

And now TIME magazine is being acquired by some Koch-associated company that will make all of this rather irrelevant. Gosh, I love modern media conglomerates.

About the same for me. If you're gonna make a combat system that's much more weighty, harder, and time-consuming in every battle than in the game it's inspired by, please don't also have a remotely similar amount of trash mobs throughout the game that the BG games had, which already had way too many trash encounters as it is. The thing was, they all took like two seconds to deal with apiece because of the D&D leveling system (where being just like 2 levels higher makes you overwhelmingly more powerful in the low to mid-levels). So designing a system where every encounter is a serious tactical consideration and you have to play it seriously and at length or get crushed...you probably should reduce the amount of combat in it. Just can't stomach it.

good golly gee whiz mccarthy is a terrible, terrible gameday coach. his total lack of football situational awareness cost us that game, nothing more. off with his head and all that. you might be an amazing coach at everything else every other day of the week, but your idiotic decision-making during actual games has cost us wins.

Dak seems like a very different QB when defenses don't play the RB anymore, especially when the OL is beat up like it is. Have to learn and get better - RBs have a short half-life in this league, and his star RB won't be around for forever.

Yeah, right after Rodgers went down, I made the Chiefs my pragmatic choice to cheer for as the Raiders looked out of it, too...and then they immediately lost the next four games. Uh, whoops?

Don't think I've played through a game that was released this year. So for games that I played for the first time this year, I think it'd be a toss up between Life Is Strange and MOTHER 2/Earthbound, with the advantage probably going to Life Is Strange for its novelty (e: also, I think I'd have to give a nod to Broken Age as well for being a truly excellent point and click adventure game). There are games that I eventually plan to play that came from this year that might get a proper "best of 2017" from me, though, and they are: Super Mario Odyssey, Cuphead, Hollow Knight, Sonic Mania, and Life Is Strange: Before the Storm. (e): Actually, I did play through a few indie games on Steam that were released this year, now that I think about it. OLDTV was probably the best of the lot (and it's free, funnily enough), but I would hesitate to give it any best game awards.

Erm, that's because it's not a real list, . Half-Life 3 doesn't exist and probably won't ever, and Daikatana, Sonic '06, Superman 64, Alien: Colonial Marines, and the two CD-I Zelda games are considered among some of the worst/most disappointing games of all time.

I don't think "silent protagonist" means "protagonist who isn't voiced" - it means "protagonist who has no dialogue". As such, the POE protagonist is not a silent protagonist. And yeah, protagonist voices have a tendency to suck, especially the stupid and grating early-to-mid-20s male voices that all sound the same.
