  1. Thanks a bunch! I will check them out when I return home Thursday, as I forgot my MotB DVD at home.
  2. Hmm, I have noticed that everybody except me thus far has chosen a fighter. I was the only one to chose a capital ship, which leaves me wondering, whether I misunderstood the question. Perhaps you were looking for fighters only?
  3. Exluding the unique stuff, such as the Death Star and the Starforge, it would have to be the Star Destroyer or its larger cousing the Super Star Destroyer. These are just classic.
  4. This might be of some interest: http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG Paizo, the former publishers of the Dungeon and Dragon magazines, have decided to stay with a modified version of 3.5E D&D. The first build of the alpha rules can be downloaded for free on the website. They are calling it the Pathfinder RPG, but I would call it 3.51E or 3.75E... There is an open beta playtest of the rules and since they are at an early stage, those interested can have an influence on how they will turn out to be.
  5. Where can you see the submissions made thus far?
  6. 10 more days left to submit material for the contest!
  7. Jedi_Legend, although your efforts are doubtlessly well-meant, I doubt LucasArts will consider them. They have their own people wanting to make a living.
  8. If 4E is what's bothering you about D&D, wouldn't it be simplest to just stay with 3.5E?
  9. I agree that it's a great idea.
  10. I am wondering: Does an RPG set in the contemporary world present any particular challenges for the developers that differ from those posed by fantasy or science fiction RPGs? I am guessing the emphasis on verisimilitude has to be greater, since player's are intimately familiar with the setting, but I would love to hear statements from somebody more qualified on the matter.
  11. Haha, this is a bad joke!
  12. I hope their 2.5 teams idea works and they are able to work on NWN2 XP2.
  13. I have no doubt that 4E will be a commercial success regardless of what a few of us "hardcore D&D folk" think of the game, but I disagree that it is difficult to bring new people into the game with 3.5 edition. I keep on bringing new people to the game regularly. Just last week, I recruited 2 new players (completely new to D&D) to my campaign and this kind of thing happens periodically. Of course, they don't generate any sales for WotC, since I already own a PHB and other stuff that I let them use, but who knows, perhaps in time they may become customers too.
  14. Without seeing the full system, it's hard to say one way or another. I do feel that combat moved much more quickly, regardless of "net complexity" vs. 3.5. Fair enough... I don't actually mind complexity (within reason), but decreasing complexity seems to be one of the major goals of 4E, so I was wondering how they were doing on that front.
  15. Thanks - I automatically went to the Home computer section and missed the fact that it could be in the business section. I am rather impressed by the prices - the value for money seems to be pretty good.
  16. This is a very interesting remark - is it a hint at a turn based 4E CRPG from OE? I like both turn-based games and the quasi-turn-based, quasi-real-time system developed for Infinity Engine games that is in use today.
  17. The bandwagon effect can actually be very powerful and for a good reason: If most groups switch to 4E and you move away from your current group to a new area, you may be forced to switch to 4E regardless of whether you like it or not if you want to play at all.
  18. Interesting - do you feel the new complexity is greater or lower than the complexity lost in the simplification drive?
  19. Ok, if you were to get a notebook I would look at either the Vostros from Dell or one of the two notebooks from Alienware - although the XPS systems might be another option. I've had no problems with either of those brands in the past. I don't know what a Vostros is, but I checked out the Dell website and some of the deals for notebooks were pretty good. I am impressed with how far technology has advanced over the past 2+ years and how much cheaper it has gotten.
  20. We cannot know for certain, of course, but it was my impression that Pandemic does not really specialize in CRPGs.
  21. Any more takers willing to post?
  22. I think the old contest was not successful for several reasons: 1) Prizes: The prizes were things that the enthusiasts likely to participate in contests already have - indeed they have to have them in order to participate in the first place. 2) Examination Period: The contest was done during the crunch period for many students (myself included). 3) Open results: Although I liked seeing what people came up with immediately, it was discouraging to participation, since the set of hidden situations was limited and the first participants more or less covered it. On the other hand, it was a good idea to have a contest, where everybody can participate in, not just the modders.
  23. I would say that OE deserves a better position.
