  1. What are the advantages to AK vs Thaumaturge? Or visa versa? Lastly, because Sage is still appealing, what happens if we combine Sage with Tuotilo’s Palm? Is this a good idea, or am I being dumb here?
  2. I’ve done a solo PotD run with a Sage (the Mirrorback sage build in Boerer’s list). It was pretty fun. I will flag that against big bosses, it was noticeably squishier than my armor-stacking Holy Slayer run. (And it wasn’t on upscaled PotD, just “normal” PotD.) So definitely not as durable as a devoted/goldpact build. A ton of fun against mobs though. You know how I like tanky... Sage seems like it'd be fun. I probably wouldn't upscale with it either I'm thinking Arcane Knight or Thaumaturge are my top choices, the edge going toward the AK, those paladin passives are amazeballs. Yeah, Arcane Knight would definitely be tankier. Noticeably lower blasting damage (since both Mig and Int multiplicatively boost damage w the right spells, and a Helwalker can get near the 35 stat max for both). But definitely more durable! And yeah, I completely agree: the Paladin passives are amazing... I'm torn about the Sage, I guess its a trade off. Some defense for huge power boost...

  4. Currently level 17, I should finish up this week. Devoted/Paladin has been a breeze, i can be completely surrounded and remain at full health. I haven't used healing potions since around level 12. Its very rare that I have to use LOH or my athletic heals. All in all, shes a machine Nice to hear! What weapon(s) did you use? Gear? Stats? Also, how did you handle Fampyr Cave, Splintered Reef, and Nemnok cave(s)? https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/105898-class-build-bloodsail-the-pirate-paladin/ I'm using WoEP currently. But will be testing Sanguine Great Sword later today or tomorrow. My last save is just outside the Fampyr cave. I went in at level 15 and was able to divide some of the argos, but in the end was overwhelmed (they were just to high a level). I'm resting with Wael's wind for immunity to mind afflictions so I don't expect much trouble to be honest. The Devoted build is SO tanky, all be it a bit slow to kill, but thats on me and my weapon choice (no regrets BTW). Splintered Reef, and Nemnok will be next around level 19/20

  6. "Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more..." Recently, some of you will remember I posted about a PoTD melee class, for a solo run. Over several pages of discussion we concluded Goldpact/Streetfighter or Devoted both as being very viable candidates. I can report back that The Devoted option, works beautifully. And, now that I've done that, I'm ready to pull a caster class run, with plenty of AoE damage, and the extreme survivability that I've become accustomed to with my Goldpact/Devoted character. I feel like the following builds are probably going to work best: 1. Arcane Knight (Paladin/Wizard) - Seems tanky, and filled with that delicious wizzy DPS 2. Sage (Monk/Wizard) - Helwalker for that HUGE boost to might and intelligence (i think) 3. Thaumaturge (Priest/Wizard) - We've all seen u/ Hulk'O'Saurus most recent amazing build Does anyone have any first hand experience with the above builds? Are there other more suitable builds (ie. Sorceror or Geomancer)? What are our most important stats? Personally I'd like to stay away from Arcana/Alchmey dependant builds. I'd love to pick up Slight of Hand/Mechanics instead, for the sure fun of it. Anyways if someone could kick off and give me some input maybe that would be awesome
  7. See here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/105898-class-build-bloodsail-the-pirate-paladin/?do=findComment&comment=2101717 Either will work, depending on if you want to be more DPS or more of a tank. The Devoted option, I’m currently playing through as is amazing. Nothing, and I mean nothing your level and 3 white skulls above compares to the power you will have.
  8. Hello Everyone, I just wanted to give an update on my current play through. I'm using BUILD #2 - Crusader - Goldpact Knights/Devoted IF you are looking for a build that can handle an entire ship battle on her own. This is the class for you. I was just attacked by Red Beard at level 13. I'm still using the basic crew, 100% solo. It was bascially me VS 20 agro's. They hand NO chance against this build. I"m running two-handed just for your reference.
  9. What about skills though? First decide what you want to play. I enjoyed play testing the builds I wanted to try. Then refine it down.
  10. I’m also interested. Since we just guild the Streetfighter/Goldpact and the Devoted /Goldpact I feel like we may want to explore Ghost Hart /Goldpact? The new claw ability is certainly enticing I’m not sure how ranger stats work or what’s most important in terms of DPS/Defense for them but I’ll give a kick at starting stats. STR - High CON - Base DEX - High PER - MAX INT - High/Base RES - High/Base Let’s do this thing Ideally I’d be building for solo play mind you.
  11. How would you build these, how much micro is involved? Well Ranger/Paladin now can rise it defense/accuracy against 1 enemy type, this mean that you can start each fight with 120+ defenses even without any gear, with shield and cape, you can rise defenses to 150+ and stop all enemies crits + Ranger get you +50 passive accuracy - which usually mean 50%+ crit rate + Ranger get you summon which can set flanked status + Ranger get you ability to clear all beneficial effects You don't need any micro, you don't need no-rest rust, you need only prepare yourself for boss battle that all Paladin/Ascendant - Work same, but without +30 acc bonus, you can do no-rest run, just dominate everything and disintegrate bosses How does one choose enemy type? Is it something that you choose at the start of the game or is it something you choose at the start of the battle?
  12. Two builds right here for the list if you have time: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/105898-class-build-bloodsail-the-pirate-paladin/
  13. Yeah, I am never Bloodied, as I panic heal instantly at 75 percent (or has the scripts heal). So I guess for my safe style it's not for me. I can understand that. Just gotta get used to it. For more survivability use Bloody Links armor (it's tough call between it and devil of caroc armor tho), and later Unbending Shield ability (which does not overheal but keeps you alive). With high Resolve and Refreshing Defense you can fight bloodied no problem. I never used a shield. I don't think Bloody Links' defensive boosts when Bloodied is sufficient enough for me feel safe. Yeah, I am never Bloodied, as I panic heal instantly at 75 percent (or has the scripts heal). So I guess for my safe style it's not for me. Use I am considering that for Drizzt or Aragorn-type of melee character, but the pet just gets in my way I’d love to see this type of build. Melee characters are my jam.
  14. Better to dump resolve and put it in INT, because you want your hobbled / blinded last long. What does the -8 INT ring do? Bliss: Resistance to Perception, Intelligence, and Resolve afflictions
  15. And you helped design this one too it was a long process but I think we got there in the end
  16. Good thing we designed for solo play That being said I think if they can be RP do it. Immersion into a game like this makes it more fun
  17. Hello everyone, I debated, putting this into two separate posts, but figured the concept was born together so perhaps they can stay together. u/ Boeroer can decide Over the last several days a bunch of us have been working (in another thread) on a solo melee character build designed around PoTD. After much discussion and some testing, we came up with two ideas that seem suitable for a play-through. Currently these builds are untested by me (beyond level 5), so I cannot say for certain whether they will work for an endgame solo play-through. What I did do is test each build up to the Digsite on the first island and completed the Drake fight. I believe this fight to be extremely hard solo, and both these builds can do it without splitting the enemies (positioning is key mind you). If you'd like to read more on our thread please have a look here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/105698-what-is-the-go-to-potd-melee-solo-build-now/ Build Name: Bloodsail – The Pirate Paladin Subclass(es): Holy Slayer - Goldpact Knights/Streetfighter (BUILD #1) Build revolves around getting flanked an/or bloodied and utilizing Streetfighter bonuses to dish out great DPS while using Goldpacts Gilded Enmity to lessen damage, and paladin passives/heals to stay decently tanky. Designed to be either two-handed or two-weapon (you decide). Good for anyone that doesn't mind living on the cusp of death, while taking swaths of enemies at once. Little to NO kiting or mob splitting needed, good positioning is a must.Subclass(es): Crusader - Goldpact Knights/Devoted (BUILD #2) Build revolves standing your ground, Devoted and Goldpact passives/heals make this build very tanky. DPS is good, but you are limited to one weapon so choose wisely. Designed to be either two-handed or two-weapon (you decide). Good for anyone values staying at max health the entire battle (or as much as possible) while doing a decent amount of damage. Little to NO kiting or mob splitting needed, good positioning is a must.Author: diamondsforever (whimper / Raven Darkholme / baldurs_gate_2 AND more (if you think you should be here let me know I'll add you in )) Game version: 3.0.0.0018 Difficulty: PoTD Solo: Untested Companion: No! 18. If there are no objections I would like to post a new thread under class builds. Unless someone else has any suggestions they think fit with the builds that should be changed ASAP?
  19. Yeah, I am never Bloodied, as I panic heal instantly at 75 percent (or has the scripts heal). So I guess for my safe style it's not for me. Try the Devoted build, think that one may be your style. Lots of constant healing at all times
  20. I've updated a few of the abilities in this build. I removed Eternal Devotion and replaced it with Escape at level 8, and removed inspired Beacon and replaced it with practiced heal. I could change out Eliminating Blow with something as well, as I'm not sure if the guile cost is too high for the effect? Where should we use our +1 permanent stat from Cauldrons brew? What is our most useful attribute? 21. On Potd that shadowdancer is very nice but you will need a support healer otherwise it will be a bit too squishy in some encounters. I would recommend a Priest/Chanter or Paladin/Priest as your healer support or Paladin Chanter. For solid solo you typically mix Paladin/x like Paladin/Trickster , Paladin Chanter or something like that to be tanky enough. Check the boards build list for build ideas. As I said for solo a Paladin multi with a strong dps class (Rogue, Monk, Barbarian) is a good way to go. We’ve actually built a Paladin/streetfighter and Paladin/Devoted here: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/105698-what-is-the-go-to-potd-melee-solo-build-now/page-10?do=findComment&comment=2100107 We are just finalizing the abilities and gear, though I think it’s pretty much done. All the final builds are under my name. There are just two.
